Worst customer service. They need to reevaluate who they hire. I won't be coming back.

Taste of Paris - Iced Coffee and Creme Brûlée Latte

The term "Paris Syndrome" describes a psychological state of severe shock experienced by tourists…read more(in particular, first time visitors to Paris) who suffer immense disappointment from unmet expectations. Taste of Paris is not actually that bad. But it is pretty weird. The vibe is less Parisian cafe than hostile architecture. For one thing, there's a hole in the ceiling. It is not small. It's basically an entire missing ceiling tile. Like, there may be some kind of repair project or remodel going on? For another thing, it's rather dark for a coffee shop. It's dimly lit with very little natural light. And the walls seem green screen ready. Jarringly sparse but would make a great Teams background. All that said, the coffee is decent. I ordered off menu. A flat white, no sugar, no syrup. And it was solid. Which, in sum, leaves me at three stars. Two or below if you're drinking in, but maybe four if you're grabbing to go.

Small shop, big payoff -- quick, clean, and the drinks come out looking like they belong in a photoshoot (the can-style iced coffees are a vibe). Gov's take: the Crème Brûlée Latte is the star. Smooth, dessert-like without being sugary, and it keeps that espresso backbone. The iced coffee/cold brew is strong, cold, and actually tastes like coffee (not melted ice and regret). Menu is easy to scan and they've got a solid lineup of flavors, plus grab-and-go energy that's perfect when you're passing through Hillside. Only knock: it's tight inside and parking can be annoying depending on the time. Rating: 4.5/5 -- I'm coming back, and I'm bringing a friend who "doesn't like coffee."

I have been driving by Vida Coffee Shop for the longest, yearning to stop in, not realizing Vida…read moreCoffee Shop is a treasure trove that is conveniently located in Franklin Square on Hempstead Turnpike at Monroe Ave on the North side of the street. So it finally happened!! I took the opportunity to stop in because I missed breakfast and wanted something small. Vida Coffee Shop advertises parking in the rear which is so relaxing because parking is hectic in this area. You can enter Vida Coffee Shop from the rear. That's a life saver for snowie days like today. Walking in I see, ambient lighting which sets a comfortable yet homely tone with a picturesque view of the Turnpike framed the dining area, clearly the result of thoughtful design. As I look around, I'm met with a chorus of enthusiastic greetings--'Hello,' 'Good morning,' 'Welcome.'" I instantly appreciated the hospitality and matched it in kind. The young lady that help me, Ms. Carina gave me the abridged version of the menu. I ordered a ham and cheddar cheese croissant, a sesame seed bagel w/ cream cheese and a 16 oz vanilla flavored coffee. While the food was being prepared I learned that Vida Coffee Shop is family owned and operated, 1 coffee shop, 1 year in business, and a Long Island Choice Award. Congratulations!! I've had ham and cheese croissants with Swiss cheese before but this was way different. The ham and cheese croissant had cheddar cheese, very delicious with a hint of cheddar, not drowning the ham flavor and flattened by a Panini press. The bagel was very fresh, and the coffee was nicely tempered. No scorching of the tongue! One piece of advice: with this extreme cold, dine in. Your food stays hot, and the weather won't steal the heat in seconds. Good-bye Star .... hello Vida Coffee Shop. I will return! I'm very happy too.... Inspire more, Yelp more!

I always like to try a different flavor iced latte when I go, saw the choco banana as a seasonal flavor on the wall and had to try that. Not only did it look good but it tasted very good as well. I noticed after the fact that they have a banana brownie which I'm sure would have paired up great with the iced latte. I'll have to stop in again soon to try them together!

The café was peaceful in the early morning, the staff was incredibly kind, and the whole space immediately felt warm and welcoming. You can truly tell this is a family-run business that takes pride in its Greek heritage and Mediterranean culture. I loved the thoughtful details throughout the café, especially the fresh, clean aesthetic and touches like the evil eye décor that gave the space so much personality and charm. Even after I left, I noticed an employee outside cleaning and brushing the front entrance that was already spotless, which says a lot about the care and pride they put into the business. I ordered the spinach feta pastry along with the seasonal Tres Leches iced coffee, and both were phenomenal. The counter guy mentioned the drink was seasonal, so I knew I had to try it -- and I'm so glad I did because it was rich, smooth, and perfectly sweet without being overwhelming. Since I paired it with a sweet drink, the savory spinach feta was the perfect balance. I also loved seeing the variety of options they offer, from croissants to sweet and savory Mediterranean-inspired items. Grami feels like one of those hidden gems you want your friends to know about immediately. I honestly just wish it had a little more Main Street foot traffic because this place deserves to be part of everyone's morning routine. I'll absolutely be back to try more seasonal specials, and honestly, waking up early just for this café might become a regular thing for me.

Apparently after 7 PM, Tous Les Jours offers 30% off, which immediately turned my casual stop into a full-on "let me try everything that catches my eye" moment. This Hyde Park location has such a soft, cozy neighborhood energy to it. It was pretty quiet when I went -- just me and one other person -- but honestly, that made it feel even more peaceful. Nestled right on Union Turnpike near a bunch of restaurants, it's the perfect little dessert stop after dinner, or honestly just a place to wander into when you need comfort in carb form. What I love about Tous Les Jours in general is how beautifully they blend French-style baking with East Asian flavors and textures. Everything feels lighter, fluffier, less overwhelmingly sweet than traditional American bakeries. Their cakes especially are heavenly -- airy, delicate, almost cloud-like. I had one for Mother's Day before and I'm still thinking about it. This visit, I decided to branch out from my usual favorites. Normally I go for something classic and simple, but this time I grabbed a croissant-croquette style pastry, a Portuguese egg tart, and the garlic cream cheese bread. The garlic cream cheese ended up being the standout for me -- savory, creamy, warm, comforting... basically the pastry equivalent of a hug. And the Portuguese egg tart? Buttery, silky, perfectly flaky. Absolutely no notes. My longtime favorite is still the pink cream bread that comes individually wrapped. If you know, you know. I also appreciate that they truly have something for every craving: sweet, savory, somewhere in-between, or even breads to take home for later. It's the kind of bakery where you walk in for "one thing" and leave balancing three boxes and zero regrets. The staff was super friendly, and they have a rewards program which makes repeat visits even more dangerous for my wallet. Now, one tiny thing: I was a little disappointed that my pastries were packed into a thin plastic takeout bag instead of a sturdier bakery box or paper bag. It felt a little grocery-store-produce-core for such beautiful pastries. But honestly, I get it -- businesses are trying to manage costs, and it didn't take away from the quality of the food itself. One thing I really hope to see in the future are more halal, kosher, or gluten-free options. This area has such a diverse community, and it would be amazing if even more people could enjoy these pastries comfortably. Overall, this spot gives me that same comforting bakery feeling I love in Flushing and Queens, just with its own quieter neighborhood charm. Soft cakes, flaky pastries, warm bread, gentle sweetness -- it's the kind of place that makes an ordinary evening feel a little more special. Definitely becoming one of my regular after-work comfort stops.
