a 7 - eleven sign on the roof of a 7 - eleven store
Me H.

My funny little story from this 7-Eleven. I went in to get some water; Dallas is freaking hot in June in case you didn't know. Anyways, I like Dasani so I grabbed three bottles and take them to the counter. The cashier looks at me and asks if it needed to be Dasani because *points to ones with a reddish label on it* that one is on sale right now. I tell him I'm a water snob and it needed to be Dasani but thanked him. He just laughed at me and wished me a happy rest of my day and to try and stay cool. I liked the fact he was nice enough to try and save a girl some money not everyone would be so nice. If you're ever in this part of town stop in and buy some water from the nice cashier.

Store sign.

So 7-Eleven is an Oak Cliff original. It's roots right here, starting in 1927 as an ice house. They added eggs, bread, and dairy. In 1936, they built Oak Cliff Dairy. Under various names and owners they established the first convenient store chain. Today, with over $90 billion in annual revenue, they are a success story. When store hours were extended from 7 am to 11 pm, their final namesake stuck. With Big Gulps, Slupee's, to go coffee and pasteries galore, we have all stopped in for a snack, gas, or beverage.

Ahhh... Slurpee!!!

They're also wonderful about accommodating dietary restrictions, which I really appreciated. The food was lovely, and each tea pairing complemented it perfectly. The service was thoughtful too. They checked in at just the right moments without ever feeling intrusive. Such a fun and special experience! I loved it so much that I bought their pink rose tea to take home, and my friend even grabbed one of their tea diffusers.

During our reservation we were the only table for tea. The staff were preparing for a private event later in the day. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Everyone we talked to was absolutely lovely. The restaurant itself was very cute and elegantly decorated. I have zero complaints about either of those things. The service and atmosphere were top notch. The problem was the food and the tea. For the tea, the loose tea was steeped in the tea strainers set over the cups and did not arrive brewed in the pot. Our server poured hot water over the tea at the table and set a timer, then when time was up we lifted the steeped tea leaves ourselves. I do not prefer this method of making tea, it means each cup needs to be individually steeped which is annoying and time consuming, and each cup is weaker than the one before it. You also do not get to select your tea - they offer two teas - one for each part of the experience and each had sweet fruity element that might not be to everyone's taste. As for the food, I was excited to try the chef driven offerings, but I was left very disappointed. To start we got a cup of autumn broth and what they called a scone. It was two very thin layers of somewhat biscuit like bread filled with apple butter and apple slices and was topped with torched cheddar. This was OK, but not what I would consider as a scone course, and it arrived first, not after the savory course. Next, we were served a kale and pumpkin puree salad with quinoa and feta with a granola on top. This was tasty, but an odd paring with the sweeter flavors of the tea they paired with it. From here, things took a left turn. I can't be sure, but many of the items we were served felt a bit stale or dry as if they were prepared the day before. One item - a foccacia with pumpkin hummus - was so dry I couldn't finish it. Other items - the pear and gruyere tart and a small pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting - were very tough and unpleasant to eat. There was no actual sandwiches, just the foccacia with hummus, a dry cornbread wedge with butter, and the pear and cheese tart on the tea stand. To finish, we were served a creme brulee that was overcooked and grainy. The flavor was delicious, but the split texture of the custard made it unpleasant to eat. Overall, I saw the chefs vision for the fall themed tea, but the execution was poorly done. Perhaps it was a bad day, considering they were preparing for the private event, but for the price paid I won't return.

I will preface that this is my 1st one star rating on any platform…read more I walked in to an inviting room with a bar, and comfortable seating. I ordered a HOT hazelnut latte. I sat down and played a game on my phone while the associate made my drink. She brought me an Iced Latte. No Problem. It happens. Let her know that I ordered a hot latte. She came back a few minutes later with a hot beverage. It tasted weird so when I opened up the lid, I saw that there was no foamed milk. No milk at all. I went to the bar it quietly let her know that that wasn't what I ordered and that I was just going to leave She gave a Long stern look. I asked her if there was something wrong because she was looking at me like I was crazy Her response was "I've already made you two drinks and if you're gonna go then get out of here." "A manager would have made you pay" I order coffee beverages all the time if it's not made correctly that's fine no big deal. But she berated me in a loud voice so everyone in the café/bar could hear. She made some kind of grunting noise as I left. The entire time I was being polite, nice and just wanted latte. I do not enjoy being treated so disrespectfully when I did absolutely nothing wrong within the situation.

His energy is off-putting and unstable. We pay with the InKind app every time and he doesn't seem to know how it works when we pay via the app, although he's done it with us specifically, at least 4-5 times. On top of that he lies and says it's his first time that someone is paying with InKind and I'm just like, how dude? You literally did it with me specifically multiple times On one occasion he ran out after us and accused us of not paying our tab and we explained that we paid through the app and that we would never dine & dash. This last time I paid with the app he made me stand up front while he called someone on the phone to have them explain to him how to do it and he was so frantic during the interaction. Like how is that the guest's problem? I HAVE ALSO ALWAYS TIPPED HIM 20%. I hate to have to call someone out but I'm tired of bad experiences at these restaurants lately and it makes me think I should've just stayed home.
