The beignet hunt is officially OVER! I've been on a mission to find some good beignets for me and…read moremy daughter, and somehow PJ's Coffee was sitting right here, not too far from home. We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a New Orleans-style coffee shop tucked into the neighborhood. The inside has cozy couches and cute seating that give you the perfect excuse to sit, & relax. It wasn't too crowded during our visit, either, which was a nice bonus. THE BEIGNETS. LET'S TALK ABOUT THE BEIGNETS. We ordered six beignets and a spinach and feta stuffed croissant. The croissant gets a respectable 7/10 from me. It was good, but I may have done it a disservice by eating the beignets first. The competition was simply unfair! Those beignets were a whole different story. 10/10 from both me AND my daughter! Fresh, hot, delicious, and exactly what we came for. That warm, pillowy goodness with powdered sugar? Yeah, they understood the assignment. No notes. Just pass me another one! I came in looking for beignets, and we left with a new local spot to add to our rotation. I haven't tried any of the drinks yet, so that's officially on the agenda for my next visit. You can't expect me to conduct a full investigation in one trip, now can you? The verdict: The beignets alone have earned PJ's a return visit. My daughter approves, I approve, and the beignet hunt has officially turned into a repeat-customer situation. Until next time, PJ's! I'll be back for the beignets... and maybe I'll actually remember to order a coffee.

I love how comfy the seating looks. Very clean place. 3 beignets 11/10: This was possibly the first time I ever had a beignet and PJ's knocked it out of the park! The powdered sugar was truly the cherry on top as it melted in your mouth. Hot Peppermint mocha 11/10: warm and cozy vibes. The peppermint wasn't too overpowering. The drink overall smelled and tasted like a dream.

There were different types of tables/seating to choose from and everyone seemed to be smiling and in a good mood. They were playing a mix of R&B that included T-Pain, Snoh Allegra, Musiq Soulchild, and Bruno Mars to name a few. They had beautiful paintings of various influential figures in Black art and culture on the walls, and upcoming events shown on a screen behind the bar which I especially appreciated (They have karaoke on Thursdays!) There was also a band set up in the front, and I instantly made a mental note to return for the live music. - I ordered the iced "LCD" latte to drink and the Avocado Smash for a quick bite. I really enjoyed the LCD. I'd consider it to be more lavender forward but I love floral/herby flavored coffee drinks so I was absolutely okay with that. My avocado toast was pretty good and reasonably priced at $12 - There is an easy, laid back vibe so I don't recommend visiting when in a rush. Mix and Mingle is absolutely a place where you want to stay awhile, and I look forward to visiting again

The aesthetic of this place is super cute and definitely what caught my attention! I walked in and…read moretwo people were standing at the end of the bar. It took a little while before I was greeted, and I feel like they could have been a bit more welcoming and upbeat. I ordered a medium Americano. The cup was fairly large (probably around 12-16 oz), but when I asked how many shots of espresso were in it, I was told just one. Unfortunately, the coffee tasted very watered down. For a cup that size, I think two shots would have made a much better Americano. They did offer to add an extra shot, which I appreciated, but I think the espresso-to-water ratio could definitely be adjusted. With such a cute atmosphere, improving the coffee and making the service a little more energetic would really elevate the experience!

Cafe Dear Leon was top of my list for places to try when I first moved to Baltimore. It was all…read moreover my social media and many people recommended it to me. I was worried that it would be overpriced and overhyped, but that most definitely wasn't the case. I first went on a Friday morning right when the crab dipped bagel was ready. There were a few people in line already bc they only let 6 people in a time. I thought it would be a mad dash to get the pastries before they ran out, but I've been several times since and they've always had plenty in stock, even when the line is down the block on the weekends (think ~30-40 minute wait). Okay onto the food itself! The crab dipped bagel is the star of the show. Such a unique, Maryland coded option. There is plenty of crab and the combo of crab, cream cheese, and cheddar really hits. It is pretty decadent, so I'd recommend splitting it with someone so you can also try the other pastries! I've tried a variety of their pastries and they're all amazing. You really can't go wrong!

Upstairs doesn't have as much seating, but is a great environment to get work done. Plenty of people on laptops and wifi info on most tables. There are so many pastry options it's almost overwhelming. Went around noon on a Saturday and they were already sold out of a lot of items--we got the last cinnamon muffin, which was a great choice. Had carrot cake consistency and very flavorful. Wanted to get the manberry tea but they were out, and was not disappointed when I got the ube tarro card matcha instead. So many pastry options, definitely want to come back. Interesting that they have ice cream, doesn't seem like a popular option Only negative was that it took awhile to be acknowledged at the counter, to the point that a long line backed up, but understand if they were busy. Didn't seem more busy than a usual day though.
