This 7-11 is now one of the closest places to get lunch near the capitol. So, it's not perfect, but it works! Gas, a working air machine, sandwiches, drinks, snacks, phone charging cords, and a pretty good assortment of allergy medicine. The folks working there are efficient. I haven't dared to get the hotdogs, but people say they're edible. The only thing about this gas station - two cars will not fit at both pumps on one side, so plan to wait. read more

Yikes. Convenient, but lots of dicey people out front asking you for money. Not much else to say.

I stop in at this 7-11 for several reasons: #1: It's near Charlie's and The Doubletree; you never know when you'll need cigarettes, mixers, or condoms; #2: I can redeem my "7-11 only" Camel coupons, which sort of ties in with #1; #3: I desperately need to refuel Kar on the way home after a night out at Charlie's/The Doubletree; and #4: I never know what's going to happen. When I drove in from Houston and stopped to buy cigarettes with my Camel coupon on the way to Charlie's, I thought I'd go #1 since I was ready to burst from the road. The door was locked. Eventually, a woman in an obscenely tight prostitute dress emerged from the bathroom and gave me a dirty look. Moments later, a nasty guy with a gold grill appeared from behind the door, also giving me a dirty look. Oh, I'm sorry--did I interrupt a filthy, early evening public bathroom jamboree? Yes, forgive ME, you know...how rude of ME. I decided to wait to pee. Later my friend said it gave new meaning to the word "Slurpee". Ew. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with people? Anyways, the guy working that day was "Tom", something I only recall because some out of town fratty guys kept repeating it in that incredibly patronizing, faux-polite way that only dude-bros buzzed off Keystone can master. I'm gonna review a 7-11? Seriously? Yep. And here's why. They have the cheapest, fast, decent lunch downtown. Fresh turkey sandwiches on cracked wheat bread with cheese and some kind of yummy southwestern mayo for $2.99. Always ready to run in and grab out of the case and eat. But wait! There's more! Through the end of August, they're offering FREE bottles of Gatorade or Propel with every sandwich purchase. AND, as if that weren't enough, they have a free condiment bar so if you're feeling all crazy you can load up your sammich with a bunch of jalapenos and stuff. Yeah, baby. Plus, the employees here are very friendly and actually helpful. Convenience store employees - helpful! Yes indeedy, it's true. It's not unusual for there to be some rather sketchy looking characters hanging out in the parking lot (maybe even Shane G, judging from his review!), but if you're cool with that, you can snag yourself a sandwich for a song. read more

Yes, I am reviewing a gas station. How does that happen, you may ask? Is Erika seriously out of places to review that the only remaining locale worth talking about is really a 7 Eleven? Well, when you go to gas stations as often as I do to get your smoky treat and Diet Coke fix, hells bells yeah it's worth reviewing! This 7 Eleven location actually happens to be equidistant from home to work, so I always stop here in the mornings or on my lunch breaks to get my gas, Diet Coke Big Gulp and snacks. Sometimes all in one trip, because I'm crazy like that. The workers here are always so nice and chipper, even at 8:30am. Instead of having the usual Shaun of the Dead glazed eye, they are personable and once, I even got a Diet Coke for free! Very nice guys. Not sure why the cops sometimes man the counter like us patrons are all thieves on the verge, but it's kinda funny. One time a homeless woman was outside babbling to the pile of trash on the outside trashcan, but otherwise it is pretty vagabond and rapscallion free. My only quibble is that sometimes they need to better situate their Wet Floor signs - my Napoleon complex need to wear heels is often thwarted when I walk across said slick floor and nearly perform an impromptu and poorly executed Disney on Ice routine for all to see. Egads. Thumbs up, 7 Eleven. I raise my Big Gulp full of carbonated (yes, a consistently good soda fountain, guys!) Diet Coke to you. read more

Hell to the yes on this sevawn elevawn.... The staff has skills! Everyone here is so nice! Especially the cute Latino man that has the good hair.....(couldn't see his name tag, darn it)..... The best thing I have ever had from here: the Teas of Texas! These bottles of bursting sunshine will quench any tea lover's thirst! We started out with just the peach and it was so holy tea-mendous, I went back in and bought all 5 flavors. I had: Strawberry Tea....mmmmmm......hmmmmmm..... Honey Tea with Goodflow branded local honey (has a big yellow daisy on the side of the bottle.....MMMMMMHMMMMMMM A +++++! The peach, which you just cannot lose on that one.... The unsweetened which was delightful and the sugar cube kind......All so very special in their own way! These are all made locally and with Texas Spring Water and are like a dream to drink... I had not seen these anywhere else before, and man, am I sure glad they carry this type of iced tea perfection in a glass bottle! 7/11 forever! read more

In my experience, 7 Eleven has the cheapest gas. I don't know about the cigarette prices though... little pricey. But everything looks pricey compared to CVS (maybe i should review CVS, as if the process of reviewing 7 Eleven isn't stupid enough.) They always let me use the bathroom when I'm drunk and don't want to buy anything. read more

Living in Houston, I had missed 7 Eleven. I was thrilled on a road trip to find this one. I had yearned for it back in H-Town. Then I moved to Vegas and they have them here every 20 feet. This is the craziest 7-11 in downtown. First of all its just crazy that they have a 7-11 down town. The biggest complaint, and I am not sure why they do this is that you have to go inside to use debit card. I am not sure about credit, but it definitely put me behind schedule when I found this out. Also, I was waiting around for others to get in and out of their car to go inside and pay to get gas. There is nothing special about this place, but nothing crazy awesome either. read more

How many of you have tried to actually get gas at this place. 4 pumps, two of which are mere feet from a busy road, it is ridiculous. Trying to wait behind someone else is all but impossible. Normally I have to wait in a parking spot, but trying to navigate that small lot is trouble in its own way. not to mention must times i lose out to the ass who is willing to wait by sticking his end out into the street thus pissing more people off. why did they even tear up the parking lot for a few weeks anyway, doesn't seem different, still a small lot next to a busy street. What is that you say? Than stop getting gas here and go to another 7 Eleven? Don't tell me my business devil women. For those who insist on getting the tank as empty as possible, you take what you can get. Working right next to this one makes it convenient. You know I still love you though 7 Eleven. I'm going to have to echo coming by this location (and other 7-11s) for their cheap sandwiches -- well, relatively cheap. Their turkey, bacon, and havarti cheese on wheat is seriously amazing. And I hate buying sandwiches. But at $3.99, I think this is a *serious* steal. I was seriously craving this today for lunch, and only got out-voted for Koriente, which is Super Yum! So I hope that gives you an idea of what a great deal & how delicious I think their sandwich is. Their chicken salad is a solid 3.5 stars for me, but others in my office aren't so keen on it. But a sandwich + a cheap coffee (versus starbucks down the road) + a 7 minute roundtrip walk from my office? SOLD. read more

I actually live closer to another 7-11, but will walk farther to go to this one, because it is always clean and the staff is friendly. They are always well-stocked and I have never seen them run out of popular products. It is definitely the best downtown 7-11. The one on MLK, a bit closer to UT is awful in contrast and run by people who don't speak English. The one on Congress between 6th and 7th is downright awful - the staff is VERY rude and they always run out of key products. Make a point to go to THIS 7-11, if you are in the area. read more

I was having quite a rough day, but coming here made my day a lot better. For context, I was waiting at the mega bus for 5 hours total (3 hours outside in the summer heat because the station was closed and buses were only coming and going; 2 hours in the bus to later find that the bus could not leave the station). I had to wait another 2.5 hours to get a ride back. I do not live in Austin and wasn't sure where to go and wait. A lot of places were closed or did not have a place I could sit in and charge my phone (most likely due to COVID-19). My phone was dying and my battery bank was dead. I had been lugging around a pretty heavy suitcase all day. I was honestly a little sad. It was probably 6:30pm when I came in. Asked the clerk if he had a charging bank I could purchase, though we were not sure it was guaranteed to be charged at all. I didn't end up purchasing it but he offered me a place and a chair to sit down and charge it. He also gave me a slurpee! The clerk here was super kind and awesome!!! I hope he gets promoted or something nice. This is now my favourite 7-11 and will come here next time I'm in Austin. read more

This is the closest 7-11 to my office, and though it's located literally caddy-corner to a Starbucks, I always prefer to go here. First off, I think their coffee selection is tops (with all the different creamers/ flavorings you can put in, etc), but it's also much more reasonably priced. Also, this particular 7-11 is always fully stocked... on literally everything, and has a pretty killer selection (not even just for a convenience store). The turkey Swiss pita is literally one of my favorite lunches around. Anyway, I stopped in this morning to grab my usual medium coffee but on a whim decided to grab a protein bar also. I got to the counter to pay (my total was $3.19) & realized that I only had $3.00 cash in my pocket. I usually carry my entire purse with me but today was cold and I didn't feel like lugging it around downtown in my big coat, so I was a little bummed and out-of-luck. Then Dave & Miguel behind the counter did something I feel most others in today's world would not have done... they counted out $.19 of their own money for me to be able to get both the coffee & the protein bar. I was pretty amazed and definitely very grateful. It's not very often that people who work at a place like 7-11 get the credit they deserve, but I wanted to take the time to express my gratitude & appreciation for these two gentlemen and the store they make the effort to maintain.
