Just came in for some framing work and had a cup of tea with Danielle and could have stayed all day. Hope you will find some of mine there as well! If you need a little pick me up, stop in to Sun and Rain and you will be smiling with a bounce in your step by the time you leave.

I've supported Cravings for a long time, but after my recent experiences, I feel incredibly…read moredisappointed and disrespected as a customer. I tried one of the new $14 salads--no protein, just lettuce, a few veggies, and a so-called "homemade" Italian dressing. I genuinely enjoyed the dressing and asked for the recipe three times out of curiosity. On the third time, I was told she wouldn't share it--but would be willing to sell it to me. That response rubbed me the wrong way. In today's economy, that kind of cold and transactional reply from a small business I've supported feels off-putting and greedy. On top of that, I tried a "tiramisu cookie" that had no coffee flavor, no mascarpone, nothing that even remotely resembled tiramisu. It tasted like a plain sugar cookie, and honestly, it felt like false advertising. If you're going to market something as tiramisu, it should at least reflect the flavors of what you're promising. Between that and the secretive dressing situation, I can't help but question whether the dressing is even homemade--or if it's just bottled and marked up. These experiences have made me lose trust in the brand and what it claims to represent. I won't be returning.

If you're the kind of person who genuinely loves coffee -- not just "needs caffeine," but…read moreappreciates what it can be when someone actually gives a damn -- Upstate Coffee is the place. This isn't one of those generic "we have espresso and oat milk" spots where everything tastes like it came off a corporate checklist. This is coffee that feels intentional. Like someone is behind it, obsessing over every detail so your cup comes out right. What makes Upstate Coffee special isn't just that it tastes incredible (it does), it's the fact that the owner cares in a way that's rare now. You can tell immediately this isn't a business built around shortcuts or trends -- it's built around pride, discipline, and hospitality. The type of person who isn't satisfied unless the product is perfect, and who treats customers like people, not transactions. And I don't mean "customer service smile." I mean the kind of care where it's obvious the goal isn't to sell you coffee... it's to serve you something the owner would confidently hand to his closest friends and family and say: "This is the best version of this product I can make." That's the standard. The coffee itself is next-level. The flavors are clean, balanced, and consistent -- not burnt, not bitter, not overly acidic for no reason. It's roasted locally with precision, and you can feel that difference immediately. There's a clarity to the flavor profile that's hard to find unless you're dealing with someone who understands roasting like a craft, not a production line. One of the things I respect most is that this is being done in an organic-certified lab environment, and they take it seriously. That might sound like a "small detail" to some people, but it shows the bigger truth: Upstate Coffee treats the entire process with care -- sanitation, accuracy, consistency, quality control -- like it matters. Because it does. You're not getting a random batch that tastes "close enough." You're getting something deliberately produced with real standards behind it. It's also just a great vibe overall. You can feel that the place is rooted in the community. It doesn't feel like an imported concept -- it feels Upstate, in the best way. Honest, hardworking, quality-first. The owner isn't trying to be flashy. He's trying to be excellent. And those are the businesses worth supporting. Bottom line: Upstate Coffee is the kind of place that raises your standards for what coffee can be. It's crafted with precision, roasted locally, made in a legit organic-certified setting, and backed by an owner who clearly has rare integrity and heart. If you live anywhere nearby and you aren't going here yet, you're missing out. And if you're passing through -- put this on your list. Five stars, without hesitation.
