Fantastic service. The hostess even ran through the menu with us after seating us on the deck. There is not a happy hour on the deck, but the view and weather were perfect. It was quite a lively vibe outside with fun music and a busy crowd. Nate was a fabulous server. He told us about some of their best items on the menu, especially the wine, and even brought me a sample of a glass before I tried it. They offer Caymus by the glass which is always fun! It was midday so we ordered a few appetizers and drinks and they were all delicious and nicely plated. The tuna poke is amazing and they make their chips in house which were thick and crunchy and served with a nice smooth guacamole. First time having dinner here. Overall, a very pleasant experience. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Came on a Saturday night at 6:30 and had to wait a while to get a seat at the bar where we had a cocktail before our 7:15 table reservation. While we were waiting for a seat at the bar, one of the hostesses went to the bar and got us a couple cocktails which was a lovely touch. Our server was very knowledgeable and had some excellent dinner suggestions. We started with the "bread is life" and the baguette was served with some of the best chimichurri I've had. Followed by the clam chowder which was quite tasty but a bit skimpy on clams. I had the aged filet which was cooked to perfection. Hubby had the ribeye which was good but not great. Not as tender as expected. And the mushrooms were some of the best I've eaten. If you have children especially babies. Don't come here. No strollers allowed but car seats are? Strollers are in the way but car seats aren't. That makes no sense.Car seats are designed for the car. Not for restaurants. This place is not children friendly. I've seen so many moms holding their children here. I had to put my stroller outside of the restaurant. No one was watching it'. You will probably spend more money than you really want to- but some of the food will inspire the dance of joy. Service was great- went there to celebrate a job promotion and they did a great job at making the evening special. We started with a selection of fresh oysters. They were served beautifully and all delicious. We had some oyster virgins with us- and they loved the oysters! The "Bread is Life" starter paired well with the oysters. The steak tartare as a starter was one of the few misses- it has a bit of a pet food consistency. The miso marinated seabass was a delicious entree as were the ribeyes a couple of our diners had. The pan seared Atlantic salmon flavor paled in comparison to the seabass. The Brussels sprouts were also a standout! Super flavorful and burnt to perfection. Everyone at the table kept stealing bites from the one order. The vibe is relaxed and the music playing in the background was enjoyable classic rock. Our desserts included a 50 Shades of Chocolate cake, key lime pie, and a daily offering- strawberry cake. These were all meh. We had a couple "Brandy Alexander the Great" for dessert- and they were not really worth the $15 each. I think I'd skip dessert altogether and have an extra order of Brussels sprouts! 6Smith is a great special occasion restaurant. We never have the chance to eat out on holidays as I usually cook. This year it was just the two of us so we decided to try Easter Brunch. 6Smith does a very nice brunch. There was a prime rib station, entree buffet, salad buffet with oysters and shrimp and a dessert buffet. The food was great and hot. Still full 5 hours later. It's really hard to find steak that is of prime grade and locally sourced in my neck of the woods. A good measure of the quality is a restaurant's ability to prepare the perfect New York steak. 6Smith knocked it out of the park. Absolutely one of the best NY steaks I've ever had at a restaurant. Cooked to perfection with edge to edge medium rare doneness. Friends had Halibut, ribeye, and filet mignon. All were fantastic. Staff was amazing and the environment warm and comfortable. Miso gazed sea bass, to be desired within a couple of days. Kids salmon, super good, crispy skin. Lobster roll was ok, not amazing. Cons: it's overpriced in many ways. The calamari is good, but over $20 for 10 pieces? You guys could totally add a little more. I'm happy to pay $45 for that amazing sea bass, but fried food, come on. Restaurant ambiance is amazing. Our first time dining at 6 Smith to celebrate my birthday - and I was really impressed! We made reservations for 4pm on a Sunday, and we were pleased to find out that happy hour is all day on Sunday's. We started with Short Rib Chili nachos, which were ridiculously good. Our waiter was very personable and funny, making recommendations based on the menu, and even brought me a dish that was not featured on the normal menu (which was also fantastic). To quote my husband, the steak he ordered "melted in his mouth". The place is no doubt expensive - but that is not abnormal for the area. The bar was lively and they had great music. It is not your typical "steakhouse" vibe, but much more laid back. I only wish I had saved room for their homemade desserts... I think we will definitely be back! read more

Came for fat pants Friday where you have to have a seat in the bar area only to be able to get. They post the day before on Instagram what they will be serving or the host stand will let you know as well. There are no options for taking certain items off the meal and no sharing or doggy bag with purchasing this as it is a flat $15 dollars currently and sure to leave you full. I arrived at 12:30 and was lucky they still had this option as it can sell out. The food is overwhelming with the amount and the value for everything that they put inside of these options is always worth it to me as the flavors are always well balanced. I'm not sure why they do not let you take home as it seems like such a waste of product but otherwise no other complaints. The bar area can get noisy so having quiet conversations can be challenging but also entertaining as the bartenders are always so friendly. read more

Stopped by 6 smith for my first patio dining experience for the season. Had the water lily because it was light and refreshing,, just feels like you should be drinking it on the water! I didn't have my usual today instead I opted for the seasonal dish of the day on the special menu because the water did a good job describing it and it was all the things I liked. scallops which came with 3 and I added an extra for $8 on a saffron risotto with seasonal veggies and it was yummy!!!!!! The only reason I knocked one stat off was the service, the wait staff on the patio seemed very new. Our waiter kept forgetting simple things, like drink orders, or how many people were at the table. And other staff on the patio kept bringing us other people's orders. Almost like they were being trained in, just a heads up would have been nice. read more

Food was interesting...I would say it was definitely quality over quantity except for the raw oysters which were plentiful all night. The chilled seafood bar had giant shrimp, lobster, king crab, and small cups of a tasty poke. It was exquisite, but hit hard and quickly gone and never replenished. The passed apps were a tasty hot potato croquette and a cold burrata bruschetta, which came around twice and then were gone. The raw oysters were a hit; 3 varietals of small, sweet and incredibly fresh oysters. The wines kept flowing and we really needed a snack type bite to keep nibbling....maybe a charcuterie board or something. Dined in for a business lunch and 6Smith was the perfect place! Beautiful location with an awesome view of Lake Minnetonka. The inside gave a modern yet rustic vibe. Full bar with plenty of both table and booth seating. The highlight of our visit was the service. Top notch! We encountered quite a few servers due to our large party. They were all so nice very nice and informative. Even the servers for other tables smiled at us all as they walked by. Such a great vibe! Our entire party shared beef cheek nachos and wings for appetizers. Both delicious. The nachos were a tad spicy for me, however the wings were so damn good and perfectly cooked. Star of the lunch. Bread before bros!! We waited almost an HOUR to be seated for our reservation. The only thing they told us was the table before us was over their reservation time. Initially this was a huge turn off since the point of making a reservation is to be seated by a certain time. HOWEVER, once I persisted that it was unacceptable, they got us seated and brought us complimentary champagne. The food??? Speaks for itself and honestly makes up for the shotty service at the start. A very nice looking restaurant next to the largest lake in Minneapolis. Being a Californian, I was shocked to discover it offers not only parking space for boats but also valet parking as well. Staffs are well trained and friendly, and the sea bass I ordered was very delicious. One complaint I have is the tables were too close to each other inside. My two friends and I went to 6Smith on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. There is a large parking lot off to the side of the building that contains parking for 6Smith along with other businesses & another restaurant all within the same building. We chose to stop into 6Smith for Happy Hour because I enjoy their food selection & was looking forward to sitting outside near the water. We walked in around 3pm & we were immediately seated outside. The atmosphere was really fun and swanky and it was nice to sit outside to stay out of the raucous. We chose to order appetizers & some drinks. My sister got the pomegranate mocktail & it was delicious. We shared the following appetizers: chips & guac, meatballs, ahi tuna poke, & the shrimp. The shrimp was my favorite as the sauce and herbs on top were amazing and it is not a common dish for me. The chips & guac were really tasty and filling. If going for the appetizers I think the meatballs are also a must. They are so tasty and the perfect size for a starter. The staff at 6Smith were amazing. Our waiter was super attentive and was very helpful in helping us pick what drinks and dishes were best. For "restaurant week", we decided to give 6Smith a try. We had reservations and were seated promptly. Our server, Nathan, was very knowledgeable of the menu and made numerous recommendations for food and wine including highlighting the restaurant week 3 course menu for $45. I had a tequila old fashioned which was sweet but still had the tequila flavor followed up by a Diet Coke. The DC was a little low on carbonation and came with a paper straw which I immediately removed. I ordered the dry rub wings, braised short rib, and mini mocha mud pie off the restaurant week menu. The wings and mud pie were the highlight of the night. The wings were hot and crispy. They came with a small container of blue cheese sauce which required using a knife since it was so small. The mocha mud pie was not very mini and a great combination of chocolate and coffee. The short rib and mashed potatoes were average at best. My partner had the fillet which was a much better choice. Overall, the restaurant is very nice and although full, it was not overly loud making it easy to carry on a conversation. Our server was very helpful and friendly. Giving it three stars overall, however, because we have had a few bad experiences with the wait staff. Most recently I went in with a few girlfriends to do a quick happy hour at 2:30 p.m. and the waiter was oddly pushy about trying to get us to order a four course dinner, higher priced wines, etc. We ordered a second round of drinks and we're still snacking on her appetizers and he cleared the table of food without asking if we were finished. Because this was a large party we were served buffet style, which was amazing because we were able to sample many dishes. From Caesar salad to roasted Brussels, hangar steak and miso glazed sea bass, everything had such an amazing flavor. A great place to go in the summer for good vibes and an even better atmosphere. I unfortunately come here pretty often and always leave a satisfied customer. This post should highlight the hostess at the host stand. The reason why will be explained below. There have been several times where I came to this establishment as walk in to pretty full restaurant. The hostess was able to make decisions and get me seated right away in great seats. I want to highlight this because often times hostess can either turn you away or give you an outrageous wait time. However, that has never been the case at this restaurant. And for that reason, I want to praise you all for the great customer service you provide. It's restaurant week in Minneapolis! I decided to kick off the week at 6Smith in Wayzetta. It's an upbeat bar that is on Lake Minnetonka. They have a variety of seafood and steak as well as your classic handhelds. The service was bubbly and fast. We started our 3-course lunch with French Onion Soup and a Cob Salad. Amazing. Our second course consisted of their take on a Cubano and a top sirloin. The Cubano was bursting with flavor on perfect bread. The sirloin was a little overdone for medium-rare but tasted excellent. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate mousse, Oreo Cheese take, and espressos. I highly recommend the chocolate mousse. The chimichurri steak looked promising but my husband said had a weird taste. When asked what you wanted with steak because it was a la carte and if you chose off the sides menu, each was $12-15 each. I ordered my steak with "Oscar" add on for an extra cost. The bernaise sauce was cold and so was the crab. Plus the bernaise sauce was a minimal amount - not enough to cover top of steak. Three of us had a lovely lunch on the deck of 6Smith. Each of us different protein version of the Ancient Grains Salad--one with chicken, one with salmon and one with shrimp. It was a lovely fall Minnesota day on the deck and the food was very nice, the service attentive and the ambiance nearly perfect. It is a nice spot for a client lunch, time with friends but it is quite expensive. Salads with protein were $18.95 and when you add a protein are in the $28-31 range which is a lot, in my opinion, for a lunch salad. It was quite tasty, I have to admit. So I would give five stars for ambiance, 4 stars for food, 4 stars for service, 2.5 stars for value. Will be back. read more

This is definitely one of the pricier places I've been to in town. If the food had been good, the price wouldn't have bothered me too much, but sadly that wasn't the case. My mother and I both ordered the grilled cheese half sandwiches with tomato soups. This had to be the smallest half sandwich I've ever eaten. The bread was good, but there was barely any cheese (and it was overcooked). "A remarkable lack of flavor" my mother remarked. Unfortunately, this was an accurate assessment. The soup wasn't bad. The service was good. Zero complaints there. We were sat quickly and got our food without delay. I'll give 6Smith the benefit of the doubt (given we only tried one thing) and go with three stars for now, contingent on a better experience next time. read more
