Tonight was finally the night, after the wife wanted to go out for an impromptu dinner, I decided, since we didn't have anything to do, let's go get some sweets and call it a night and came here. It has only been 3 weeks since they opened (found out from the young lady serving us tonight!) and came around 730 PM, and to my surprise it was pretty empty, and I was all good with that.
So if you know the place, this use to be a former restaurant, and this place is bigger than any Chinese dessert place I have ever been to in the Lower Mainland, so it's safe to say, if you are here at the right time, you can come as a group, that's if it is not busy. Also, you ask... is there parking, well Kingsway is free most times, so hopefully you will find a spot up front.
When you enter you realize there is seating on both the right and left sides upon coming in. We had a table and were given menus, and there was a lot of items on this menu, what was even more cool was that one side was English, and the other side was in Chinese. There is a minimum order of 1 item per person.... you have been warned!
From their signature dishes, to traditional to other desserts, the menu is well thought out, and even has some savory appetizers for you none sweet fans that are coming in! I had a B2 - Mango Sago Pomelo with Lychee Jelly, and W had a Taro Paste with soft milk mochi.
So the surprise was the size of these desserts, they were very fair for the price, and much larger than that other Chinese dessert place in Vancouver (ahem!). And if you wanted to ask... so how did it taste... I can say it was exactly what I wanted, especially with my B2 where the choice of mango they used was amazingly refreshing and had a nice sour zing... (no... this is real good, and makes this dish shine!). W's taro with soft milk mochi was very unique, and we even asked them to make it less sweet, and this really fit her taste.
I am looking forward to coming again and calling this my new go-to Chinese-Cantonese dessert place. Don't worry, they take debit, if you really need to know! read more
