Took a picture after I started. But this tasted better than it looked.

This review shocks me. I would never expect that an airport steakhouse would get 4 stars but if I could give it 4.5 I would. Was taking a flight to Vegas and wanted to eat something substantial before the flight. Was sharing with the wife and we decided to share a hangar steak. WOW. The steak was phenomenal . Tender and perfectly cooked served with delicious crisp French fries. The old fashioned was also well made. Next time at JFK Terminal 5. Check it out.

    $75 ribeye

Standard airport fare, hostess wanted to seat me outside the restaurant rather than at a comfortable booth. The furniture had torn upholstery, service was slow, my water glass had a mystery sauce smeared on it. The good news is that my ribeye was a solid medium rare and tender. The waiter attempted some service recovery but back of house sent the wrong sauce out after the dirty glass. This place needs work for a $75 steak!

Grilled Chicken BLT Club - thick bacon, lettuce, tomato, BBQ mayo sourdough bread

With a 90-minute delay I needed a place to eat and this was probably going to be my only meal for the day. The place looked nice, so I thought I would give it a try without looking anything up. Going to the desk and asking for a table came back with the reply that they would open at 11:00 AM. Well, since that was ten minutes from now we could wait. Oh, but I could get you a seat while you wait. Okay... why was that even a discussion point? Anyway... The menu seemed good, and I went for the Grilled Chicken BLT Club - thick bacon, lettuce, tomato, BBQ mayo sourdough bread with the Hummus and pita to start. The hummus was a little too loose but at least it still worked for me. The Grilled Chicken BLT however, was a bigger challenge. Overall, the taste was okay, but the chicken was a little overdone to the point where if there was a personal threat in the area I could probably have used it to defend myself. Otherwise, it does have nice open seating, and it is located right as you enter Terminal 5. I just wish it was as good as it looked.

Hubby and I came here for breakfast since we arrived at the airport early. This restaurant is inside Terminal 5. It was not bad because we knew what to get: bagel and lox. Order this while you're still in NY. We had a waitress named Cash helping us with our order, although ordering via a scan code is easy. We also had two Sunnyside eggs. We liked it here better than getting food at the kiosk because we could sit comfortably here rather than eating at the gate while waiting for the plane. Nice experience.

Scammed on the TIP 18% for to-go order without showing to the customer or letting customer know before charging.
    K. Kyle S.

Terrible Service, Scammed the customer for TIP/Gratuity ~ First, we sat for dine-in n the server take awhile n we still haven't get serve n we r in a bit rush so we decide to just order to-go; so we left the table and walk to the front receptionist and told him we want order to go, and he told us just scan the QR code to order n I asked can't we just order my mouth? We really don't wanna do QR code order app, it is just annoying. N receptionist asked one waitress to come order for us, after she placed everything n told us the total ~ but it seems so much, we order total est $60 ish with tax but she told us $70 ish so we asked for receipts then we noticed she charged the TIP without letting us know ~ we were very unhappy about that, we r friendly with tip but not in this way. So we asked for manager for full refund n we let her know this is to go order, n she was like no ~ this is done in order. We were like NO, we r here outside standing waiting for togo oder, finally we did get our full refund but after going through at least 20-30 min wait back n forth keep asking for refund ~ not happy ! First day & First Time in New York ... bad experience!

Build Your Own Omelet (ham, spinach, green peppers)

At 5:30 AM, the options for a hot breakfast are limited at this terminal. 5ive Steak (pronounced "Five-Ive?" That can't be right) will do though. It's not cheap, but it's also not bad. I think the food can politely and honestly be described as a bit dry, but serviceable. Our server did a great job getting our food and the check to us quickly so we would not miss our flight. And, if you're the kind of person who enjoys eating an omelet and sipping coffee while watching panicked travelers sprint around an airport terminal, this expansive dining area has you covered.

We were stuck in the airport with our flight delayed so we decided to grab a bite. We ordered the fried calamari and I had a burger and fries and my girlfriend had the Turkey burger. Unfortunately, the calamari and fries were way too salty for my taste and the burger was just ok. I really wasn't expecting much but it was ok, hence the 3 stars. The waitress was nice and quick.

    Really gross eggs benedict

The food is incredibly bad. I ordered eggs benedict and the sauce is mustard flavored. Also we asked for water and never got any.

I think this photo of their chicken club sandwich speaks for itself. This place is horrible. I would give this place a zero if I could. Bread tasted two weeks old and chicken was horrendous. Bacon was ok. So basically I paid $22.00 for some limp bacon and fries.

Carl - the man you must meet.
    Wesley A.

Star of the show is Carl, bartender and the life of the party. Had a flight out and stopped by quickly for some food and drinks, while the food was subpar, he made the experience much more enjoyable. A captivating personality with countless jokes and outgoing personality, led to a comfortable evening before departure. Recommend stopping by the bar and listening to his welcoming attitude and jovial character. You won't be disappointed.

Normally, I don't expect much at an airport, and I hate the prices... But this place was definitely worth it! Burger I had was delicious, but the real star was the chopped salad. I would eat that every day, it was so tasty and fresh. Delicious apple vinaigrette, lots of tomatoes and feta cheese... There was an up charge to substitute salad instead of french fries, and it was totally worth it. Shout out to Kamini -- so sweet and helpful, she definitely added to my very pleasant experience here. Overall the service was friendly and fast, very nice open environment, loved it. I would go back next time I'm at JFK!

    Chi A.

Not much to write about considering it's airport food. I got the impossible burger, and it came with fries. The burger was mediocre but I needed something quick before I got on my flight. The three stars is for the bartender/server because she was super polite and patient.

There was a small mix-up with our order and they accidentally brought out an extra pasta, but our server fixed it right away and took care of it without us even having to ask. The chocolate cake was just ok. I started with the good. The bread was cold. We started off with the French onion porta cello that was highly recommended it was just bleh. My onion chicken was so bland, no taste at all. The side of mashed potatoes it came with was very good as well as the brussel sprouts. My dad ordered the NY steak soecial. It was supposed to be slightly spicy and have special fries. He said the fries were plain and bland and the steak was decent, but wasn't worth it for $40. My mom said her veal was just ok. I really wanted to love this place. It shows that they really want their diners to feel at home and welcome. The place is clean and nicely done. Unfortunately steely, there's no heat in the bathrooms and we had to change my daughter and use the restroom in the freezing cold. I hope I get a chance to try something else here. The gorgeous, ancient building, Fillmores for close to 50 years now but home to a bar for many years prior to that, is perennially packed with a cross section of local regulars representing many eras of the neighborhoods varied history and populations, from old school working class joes in Union Jackets and hardhats to more recent immigrants from every corner of the world befitting it's location smack in the center of the worlds borough. They're all most definitely having a great time, soaking up the fantastic atmosphere and character and being served by seasoned pros with a level of old school care and camaraderie, and focus on loyalty to the regulars that is also sadly rapidly fading away (how many other places in this town still know the meaning of the words "buy back?") Where the place really sets itself apart from all the other local watering holes however charming they might be on their own right however, is the food. Its lives up to the original designation of a tavern as a place that places a priority on the cuisine, and indeed the offerings rise far far above the bar-food norm. This is the type of spot that not only serves one of the great, deeply satisfying under-the radar burgers, non nonsense but deeply meaty uniquely presented on a long hero-type roll, but also one of the best, and cheapest NY Strips in town and a killer prime rib special. Also has some of the most reliably crispy wings, even if the propriety house sauce is just a tad sweet for my tastes, and a rotating list of delicious house made soups (particularly a marvelous lobster bisque) that can be paired with said wings or most other options as part of the wonderful lunch specials. I've heard many other patrons praise the grilled chicken wrap but have never had the chance to give it a try as of yet. I'll have many more chances because I plan on continuing to visit the place often for years to come, and here's to hoping that this place remains a constant in the ever changing borough as it's miraculously been able to all these many many years.

I'd seen it on Yelp for quite a while, and the food in the photos looked really promising. Unfortunately, when we pulled up and saw the location, I had a feeling it wasn't going to live up to my expectations. I was hungry enough that I decided to give it a chance anyway. If you're coming strictly for the food, I'd probably skip it. But if you're looking for a casual spot to relax with a beer and grab a bite, it does the job. Although the meal wasn't what I had hoped for, I do think the kitchen made the best of the ingredients they had. My husband ordered the steak sandwich, and I was pleasantly surprised by how tender the meat was, even though it clearly wasn't an expensive cut. I ordered the French onion soup, which lacked depth of flavor, had very few onions, and the bread was really soggy. My Caesar salad, on the other hand, was dressed and tossed perfectly, but the dressing tasted like it came straight from a bottle. If they made their own dressing, or even used a higher-quality one, it could have been an excellent salad. Our server was friendly and attentive, though she didn't seem very familiar with food terminology. I asked whether the onion rings were made fresh or frozen, and she replied, "They always taste fresh when I've had them." That pretty much answered my question, I'm guessing they were frozen. Overall, it wasn't a satisfying meal for me. Then again, I came for the food. If your goal is simply to unwind with a drink and some casual bar food, you'll probably have a much better experience than I did.

Reservations are highly recommended. A lot of my mom friends rave about this place and I got to dine here twice with them, once for brunch and the other for dinner. The first time I came here was with my child for brunch. I got a mocktail and we ordered chicken and waffles along the unadvertised kids menu containing chicken fingers and fries. Portions for both dishes were generous and took home the leftovers. We also shared the Brussels sprouts and the infamois complimentary bread, which were really good. The second and most recent time we went was for dinner with the a huge group of moms. We shared the Caesar salad, Brussels sprouts, and general two's cauliflower, which was amazing. I had the red sangria and a taste of the Huckleberry lemonade, drinks were strong. For the entrees I ordered the salmon and once again portion was huge, took it home and the hubby ate the leftovers. Other moms ordered the frose, spicy paloma, le poulet and spicy Rigatoni. At the end we had key lime pie which tasted great but I was too full to finish it. I'll be coming to this spot more often because of great company and food!

This one is every ounce of what they market online. The food is amazing. The staff is amazing. Inside is amazing. There's even plenty of parking near the local train station. The marketing team did an outstanding job representing this restaurant. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.
