Took a picture after I started. But this tasted better than it looked.

This review shocks me. I would never expect that an airport steakhouse would get 4 stars but if I could give it 4.5 I would. Was taking a flight to Vegas and wanted to eat something substantial before the flight. Was sharing with the wife and we decided to share a hangar steak. WOW. The steak was phenomenal . Tender and perfectly cooked served with delicious crisp French fries. The old fashioned was also well made. Next time at JFK Terminal 5. Check it out.

    $75 ribeye

Standard airport fare, hostess wanted to seat me outside the restaurant rather than at a comfortable booth. The furniture had torn upholstery, service was slow, my water glass had a mystery sauce smeared on it. The good news is that my ribeye was a solid medium rare and tender. The waiter attempted some service recovery but back of house sent the wrong sauce out after the dirty glass. This place needs work for a $75 steak!

Hubby and I came here for breakfast since we arrived at the airport early. This restaurant is inside Terminal 5. It was not bad because we knew what to get: bagel and lox. Order this while you're still in NY. We had a waitress named Cash helping us with our order, although ordering via a scan code is easy. We also had two Sunnyside eggs. We liked it here better than getting food at the kiosk because we could sit comfortably here rather than eating at the gate while waiting for the plane. Nice experience.

Grilled Chicken BLT Club - thick bacon, lettuce, tomato, BBQ mayo sourdough bread

With a 90-minute delay I needed a place to eat and this was probably going to be my only meal for the day. The place looked nice, so I thought I would give it a try without looking anything up. Going to the desk and asking for a table came back with the reply that they would open at 11:00 AM. Well, since that was ten minutes from now we could wait. Oh, but I could get you a seat while you wait. Okay... why was that even a discussion point? Anyway... The menu seemed good, and I went for the Grilled Chicken BLT Club - thick bacon, lettuce, tomato, BBQ mayo sourdough bread with the Hummus and pita to start. The hummus was a little too loose but at least it still worked for me. The Grilled Chicken BLT however, was a bigger challenge. Overall, the taste was okay, but the chicken was a little overdone to the point where if there was a personal threat in the area I could probably have used it to defend myself. Otherwise, it does have nice open seating, and it is located right as you enter Terminal 5. I just wish it was as good as it looked.

Scammed on the TIP 18% for to-go order without showing to the customer or letting customer know before charging.

Terrible Service, Scammed the customer for TIP/Gratuity ~ First, we sat for dine-in n the server take awhile n we still haven't get serve n we r in a bit rush so we decide to just order to-go; so we left the table and walk to the front receptionist and told him we want order to go, and he told us just scan the QR code to order n I asked can't we just order my mouth? We really don't wanna do QR code order app, it is just annoying. N receptionist asked one waitress to come order for us, after she placed everything n told us the total ~ but it seems so much, we order total est $60 ish with tax but she told us $70 ish so we asked for receipts then we noticed she charged the TIP without letting us know ~ we were very unhappy about that, we r friendly with tip but not in this way. So we asked for manager for full refund n we let her know this is to go order, n she was like no ~ this is done in order. We were like NO, we r here outside standing waiting for togo oder, finally we did get our full refund but after going through at least 20-30 min wait back n forth keep asking for refund ~ not happy ! First day & First Time in New York ... bad experience!

    Really gross eggs benedict

The food is incredibly bad. I ordered eggs benedict and the sauce is mustard flavored. Also we asked for water and never got any.

At 5:30 AM, the options for a hot breakfast are limited at this terminal. 5ive Steak (pronounced "Five-Ive?" That can't be right) will do though. It's not cheap, but it's also not bad. I think the food can politely and honestly be described as a bit dry, but serviceable. Our server did a great job getting our food and the check to us quickly so we would not miss our flight. And, if you're the kind of person who enjoys eating an omelet and sipping coffee while watching panicked travelers sprint around an airport terminal, this expansive dining area has you covered.

Carl - the man you must meet.

Star of the show is Carl, bartender and the life of the party. Had a flight out and stopped by quickly for some food and drinks, while the food was subpar, he made the experience much more enjoyable. A captivating personality with countless jokes and outgoing personality, led to a comfortable evening before departure. Recommend stopping by the bar and listening to his welcoming attitude and jovial character. You won't be disappointed.

We were stuck in the airport with our flight delayed so we decided to grab a bite. We ordered the fried calamari and I had a burger and fries and my girlfriend had the Turkey burger. Unfortunately, the calamari and fries were way too salty for my taste and the burger was just ok. I really wasn't expecting much but it was ok, hence the 3 stars. The waitress was nice and quick.

I think this photo of their chicken club sandwich speaks for itself. This place is horrible. I would give this place a zero if I could. Bread tasted two weeks old and chicken was horrendous. Bacon was ok. So basically I paid $22.00 for some limp bacon and fries.

Normally, I don't expect much at an airport, and I hate the prices... But this place was definitely worth it! Burger I had was delicious, but the real star was the chopped salad. I would eat that every day, it was so tasty and fresh. Delicious apple vinaigrette, lots of tomatoes and feta cheese... There was an up charge to substitute salad instead of french fries, and it was totally worth it. Shout out to Kamini -- so sweet and helpful, she definitely added to my very pleasant experience here. Overall the service was friendly and fast, very nice open environment, loved it. I would go back next time I'm at JFK!

We went on a Saturday morning, which was busy but it was only a 10 minute wait for a roomy booth. We ordered a vegan egg, cheese and sausage sandwich and a vegan Philly cheesesteak. The Philly was delicious and the flavor was amazing. The breakfast sandwich was just okay. One thing I was surprised about was that nothing else came with our orders, unlike general diners. No greens, breakfast hash, fries, etc. So when ordering, keep that in mind. The strawberry banana smoothie was so good and the ginger shot was good value for the price. We were still a bit hungry so we grabbed a cookie from the front cashier and had it added to our bill. I would come back, pretty much because it's the only vegetarian/vegan diner that I know of.

Jamaica Ave is known to locals of Jamaica Queens as "The Ave" so I thought that naming this place "The Avenue Cafe" was a really nice touch. The Avenue Cafe is definitely a hidden gem. I believe the small number of reviews is primarily due to its location. Tucked away in a food court which could only be accessed through an alley on Jamaica Ave or a side street (160th St), this cafe was not easy to find. Although the food court it is located in is no-frills, The Avenue Cafe actually put effort in establishing an inviting aesthetic that made me feel no different than if I were walking in my usual cafes in the city and I really liked that. The staff were courteous and they make your order quick! Best of all, they take card and Apple Pay (I didn't have cash on me that day and I was aware that just about every stall in that food court is Cash-Only). Well, at least business was "Blooming" due to Mother's Day reservations…read more All jokes aside, I visited this restaurant yesterday for a Mother's Day brunch with a group of eight others. Our reservation had been confirmed the day before by both our host and the restaurant. When I arrived early, I was surprised to find the place jam-packed and clearly overcrowded. The front-of-house staff, along with the presumed owner, seemed overwhelmed and initially could not locate our 12:00 reservation. There were also guests with 11:30 and later reservations that were still waiting to be seated, along with several other groups scheduled around our time. After waiting nearly 50 minutes, talking with others who were also waiting, and watching two other tables be hastily set up and filled, we were finally seated. The table had been quickly wiped down and set with placemats, but it was missing silverware and several glasses. Most of this was resolved fairly quickly, though two people still never received glasses, with one person asking a few times for one. Our clearly overworked waitress brought us water and eventually took our order after a shorter additional wait. I ordered a $6 cappuccino, which was enjoyable, with a moderate amount of foam and a pleasantly bitter flavor without tasting over-roasted. However, another person's $4.50 iced coffee did not seem worth the price, as it appeared to be no more than a 12-ounce glass and was mostly filled with ice. Outside of coffee, the staff was understandably slow with water, with long waits, and we finally got a pitcher near the end of the meal. For my meal, I chose the $16 Poached Browns, which included two poached eggs, pulled pork, an English muffin, hollandaise sauce, and their Bloom hash. Many minutes later, and I mean many, the eggs were properly poached and were the highlight of the dish. The pulled pork, served without any additional sauce, was dry, and the small amount of hollandaise did little to help. The hash on the side lacked crispiness and vegetables, aside from what might have been a tiny piece of chopped yellow pepper. Overall, it was below average but passable. Two others ordered the Make Your Own Omelette for $19, which comes with a choice of three ingredients, the same hash, and bacon. They made two specific requests, both of which our waitress confirmed: first, that they did not want bacon, and second, that they could substitute fries for the hash--regular fries for one person and sweet potato fries for the other. Despite this, both plates arrived with bacon, as you can see in my first photo, where one of them transferred her bacon to my plate. The other person sent her plate back and ended up receiving her Mother's Day meal well after everyone else. The omelette also looked a bit more like a frittata, which I didn't mind. After waiting a while, including finally getting pitchers of water, we finally left after a long and annoying bunch. If this spot indeed had reservation issues, why on earth were they still allowing walk-ins? Why did they tell people it would take 15-20 minutes to seat when it would clearly take 30+? This entire experience was inept from beginning to end. The food this time is closer to a 2, but our experience as a whole was closer to a 1. I would never go back.
