Who would have thought you could go to Kittitas, WA to get an authentic Philly cheesesteak sandwich? It takes me back to my childhood. The original: steak with grilled onions and provolone. Nothing else. I, alas, can no longer eat gluten but they took care of me with a cheesesteak on a bed of lettuce. It was delicious. I loved that it had mixed greens and it felt so much lighter and healthier to have it on lettuce instead of a roll. The cole slaw was delicious and packed a punch with horseradish and the housemade potato chips are worth every decadent calorie. Stopped here on the way back from The Gorge. The millennial-esc, gentrified cafe we intended to stop at was a 40 minute wait for food, so we strolled down the block to 509 Philly Stop. The guy that took our orders was very friendly. He was able to advise us on the best way to order a cheesesteak as a Philly native. Our food was ready within minutes and very delicious. First off, if you're going to have a Philly cheesesteak place you got to have the right bread. These guys have the right bread to taste just like Philly. They have a giant selection of hoagies and cheesesteaks. I opted for a traditional cheesesteak but I like provolone and I like onions and then they have peppers as well so I threw that in there which isn't very traditional but that's the way I like it. And then the pro move is you order a side of cheese fries that are smothered and cheese whiz and you pick up the fry and dunk it into the sauteed onions and peppers and eat that like a corn dog. Almost. Delicious! I'm totally coming back to this place and maybe getting a pizza steak or a hoagie or a hot sandwich. The locals seem to be in here. They have easy parking right out front. They got a bunch of tables inside and the guy cooking brings out your food. I love it! read more

We stopped at this place on our way back from the gorge since our usual stop (the diner by the gas station near the gorge) had sadly closed due to the owners passing. You could tell this was definitely a locals spot which was cute, but didn't seem to work in our favor. The people were friendly which is what our two stars are going towards. We ordered 4 sandwiches, 1 side of onion rings, and purchased 2 cookies that were in a basket on the front counter. We ended up waiting about 30 minutes, all while 5 or so people (who clearly knew the people working based on their interactions with them) came in, ordered, got their food and left while we were still sitting there waiting. We were exhausted and just wanted to eat and make it to our flight in Seattle on time, so this was pretty disappointing. I understand wanting to take care of your regulars and friends, but 30 minutes for 4 sandwiches and a side of rings is an insane amount of time either way. The food looked amazing, but sadly only one out of our 4 sandwiches was anything to write home about. The mushrooms on mine were old and and had the texture and taste of being out of a can, and every component of our sandwiches lacked seasoning. The two cookies we got were stale and dry. All in all this was an incredibly disappointing experience and we will continue to search for a nearby after gorge restaurant. This just ain't it. read more

Wow, these are great! And they are HUGE. They fly in their rolls from Philly twice a week and the roll was perfect. The service was super friendly and it was about 10 minutes to get our sandwiches and fries. The fries were also awesome. But you better be REALLY hungry because the sandwiches as so big. What a pleasant surprise.....was traveling across the state to take my son to college and saw this place on yelp. Was not expecting to find a great Philly place in the middle of the state. We both had Philly sandwich's and they were top notch. We would definitely go back. Spoke with the owner....he knows his stuff because he grew up in Philadelphia. He and his wife make a great team. This place is the best in Kittitas County. Today they had fresh baked chocolate chip cookies that they let us take right off the cooling rack.
