Good service and vibe. As a passerby, cannot recommend for the food alone. Ordered a cowboy burger and Oreo shake. Wife ordered chicken basket and root beer float. The wife's chicken basket was mediocre at best. Chicken strips and fries were something you could get out of the freezer section of your grocery store. Same with the burger, pre-frozen patty with little to no seasoning, 2 bacon pieces (maybe 1/4 of the length of a strip), 2 onion rings, and ketchup (even though the description says BBQ)... 2 stars solely for the service and patience of the person at the register. First off, we normally love Red Arrow and try to make it a staple when we pass through Cle Elum. Service has always been friendly and still is to this day. No issues there! Our issue was the quality of the hamburgers. All of our burger patties were cooked, but cooler and cold in middle. We got our food and immediately hit the road. We all noticed the issue with the food as we got onto I5... therefore turning around would have been a process. I imagine it's a cooking process of cooking the burgers, putting them in a pan by the grill and then rewarming the patties when needed. Unfortunately the burger patties did not warm up enough and it was pretty gross. Wasted $75 on food my family didn't eat. Bummer! However, everything else was good. read more

Sorry but this place isn't worth the hype. I hate leaving subpar reviews but it has to be done. My husband and I stopped by as we were passing through because not much is open past 8pm and sadly this place didn't hit the spot. The burger was not good. I don't think I've ever half eaten a burger, like a hamburger! You can't mess that up. The meat just did not taste good. The fries were ok. The best part was my Oreo shake but I didn't realize I got a mini size and it was $5. Last thing, this place is insanely overpriced. I am grateful that there is a "fast food" place in town that is affordable, and where the owners care about the character of their staff, and the quality of their food, more than making a buck or two extra! For you long time Cle Elum people, no it's not McCain's anymore, but it down have the same quality Emilia McCain required. Been in this area consistently for 5 years now and I'm just NOW getting to this place... and I woefully regret waiting so long. Made kind of a late night run for some food off the south ridge, and I've always wanted to try this place. We had our annual "guys" weekend full of riding, shooting, poker, and lil' bit o' whiskey and we wanted something to grub on.... And lemme tell ya.... The McGuire burger absolutely hit the spot! We got our food to go and take it back to some of the other fellas... and by the time I opened the wrapping, I was ready to bite into the juicy burgers laced between a French Roll. Throw in the fried mushrooms and onions, lathered in their signature BBQ and Burger sauce.... In the words from a pair of "Psych-edelics" Shawn and Gus... C'mon Son! Juicy burger, awesome crispy and perfectly salted fries, and a vanilla malt.... Just added the badassery to guys weekend in the woods! False advertisement! Got the famous giant McGuire burger. No grilled mushrooms or onions. It's basically 2 frozen patties and some lettuce and pickle on a sandwich bun. Not to mention the beef patties were cooked to death. It's like chewing rubber. Can't believe it's called "famous" when in reality it's not even as good as the most basic McDonald's burger. This will very much echo my earlier review. While this is a good burger, but not great and it's again because the burger itself is slightly over cooked and dry. A minute less on the grill would do it. Now, everything else about this place is fabulous. The kids behind the counter are fast and courteous. Orders taken quickly & accurately and it's only a couple minutes to get our food. Great diner ambiance and it's really clean. Prices are on the high side but that's the trend everywhere these days. If I could review this so called famous place without a star I would. We spent $60 on 3 people, the famous burger and pastrami sandwich 1 fry and 3 so called milk shakes. First it was so absolutely salty, the hard bread was so horrible pastrami meat was beyond salty as well as the fries. Love their kids burger and fries. This is our go to burger place in Cle Elum (and we live here). Great service, nice staff. In the summer they have picnic tables in a shady area that is dog friendly (our cat isn't too pleased with that). Don't think about the joint on 970, the Red Arrow is better. read more

Wow! Cle Elum is a cute little town and I had high hopes for a hodunk little delicious hole in the wall. What we got was...well, I have a term for underwhelming food items, I refer to it as 'hospital food'. You know the kind - over cooked, processed, plasticky, tasteless and sometimes even the freezer burned flavor. I was excited to find a quick place off I-90 over Snoqualmie pass, and that part, we found in Red Arrow. I had the arrow burger, my son had the chicken burger. The chick burger was two super thin chicken nuggets which were the type that taste like processed paper, potato and plastic smashed together. The burger tasted like freezer burned mystery meat - hospital food! The arrow sauce was watery and was not a good flavor in the least, it wanted to be fry sauce, but failing its attempt at replicating the deliciousness, double disappointment as it was also mostly flavorless, except for the smoky barbecue flavor, which is not my thing. At all. The fried mushrooms were good, nothing special, especially because the ranch was just the run of the mill processed packet ranch. Homemade ranch goes a long way! The crinkle fries were delicious and the root beer floats were good as well, if you're stopping for a shake or just some fries, this place will serve you well. The staff was super friendly, which was great, but sadly didn't make up for the food quality being so below par. I think this is the first time I've ever only eaten a quarter of a 1/4 pound burger - it was that yuck! I'm bummed I had not amazing cell phone service through the pass because I relied on the Google reviews which were much better than the Yelp reviews here. Always trust Yelp over Google, folks! While my former colleague and I were out in central Washington for meetings, we visited Red Arrow Drive-In for lunch. For a classic burger and fries (or tots), it was what you'd expect from an old school drive-in in a small town. Located in Cle Elum, it was easy to find from the main street that goes into town. There's not much to Red Arrow, as it's clear that the spot has been around for years. But that's the charm of it. Nothing fancy about this place, so don't expect to be knocked off your socks. What you see is what you get, and I like that about Red Arrow. I ordered the double cheese burger with tots and it came with housemade fry sauce. The burger was solid. Melted cheese between the patties and all the classic toppings you'd expect on this burger. I enjoyed it. I also liked the housemade fry sauce, which had relish in it. Burgers were large and cooked perfectly and the sides very generous. The restaurant is decorated with nostalgic posters, signs and a large area map from "back in the day". Overall appearance was clean and well cared for. Tables and the carpeted floor were clean. Music was from the '60's and played at a very pleasing volume. We often want to place an order coming into town from the north, but we don't get cell service until we hit the Hwy. 97 & 10 junction, which makes the purpose of this almost moot. This trip, I discovered the Red Arrow's online ordering service, which is very well designed. I found everything I wanted, and easily placed an order while traveling through Cashmere, estimating the time of my arrival. The order was ready for me right on time, and perfectly hot & delicious! I ordered the Giant McGuire & fries, which was WAY too much food for me! The iced tea was delicious, as well. The food quality & flavor here is top notch; very good.
