Quick weave fell off my head after 12 hours
    Stacy A.

Update: Waited all day and did not receive a call to get this matter resolved. Since there is a no refund policy...I'll be disputing the charge with my bank...so unacceptable! I wanted to love this place but I'm so disappointed! I contacted 5-star Weaves yesterday about getting my hair done, a quick weave. I received a response quickly which was great and got the appointment an hour later. During my visit, the shop was clean and inviting and the staff was friendly. The reason I went with a quick weave is that I did a big chop 2 months ago and didn't have enough hair for a traditional sew-in. My hair was braided down on the top, and a glue protectant was used. A cap was used along with some black wraps. I was placed on the dryer for a few minutes to mold. I purchased hair directly from them and received a full closure quick weave bob style. Let me add, I've never done a quick weave before, outside of gluing tracks down myself years ago so I wasn't sure how long the style would last or the full process. I asked my stylist how long it would last, and she was vague, just stating I would know when it was time to wash it out. I left the shop around 5 pm and everything was fine with my hair when I got home. In the evening I started to feel the cap underneath get loose in the back of my head but assumed that was normal. Before going to bed I wrapped my head with a scarf and placed a bonnet on top, which I do with any style. When I woke up this morning and pull off the bonnet the cap holds the quick weave had popped off the top of my head and the braids were exposed. I was so surprised! I'm not a rough sleeper and I've never had issues with hairstyles lasting for weeks. I tried pulling it back down, but it wouldn't stay down, it's like my quick weave turned into a wig that had no clips. I immediately contacted the shop because at this point the whole quick weave came off. I took pictures and requested a callback and refund. I wasn't aware the shop closed on Monday so I finally received a reply a couple of hours later and was told they don't do refunds, but I could come in for it to be re-done. My frustration is that I paid for a service and not even 24 hours my weave fell out! This was my first time trying 5-star Weave, and I wanted to love it. I'm sure they do great sew-in service, in fact when I was there, I saw a few ladies getting sew-ins that looked beautiful, but I'm not happy with my service. Due to my schedule, I don't have time to get it re-done, and the purpose for getting my hair done is ruined and I have to find an emergency alternative, which means more money out of my pocket. I spent $285 ($135 of it on hair) and it's a complete waste. The owner or shop manager seemed apologetic, which is the reason I'm giving 2 stars, but there should be exceptions to the no-refund policy for situations like this...it's not a loose track or something that happened a week later....my whole quick weave fell off 12 hours later because it wasn't properly secured. I hope that it gets resolved, and I can update this review!

There's many reasons this salon deserves - while visiting from Australia I came across this salon information on Craigslist and decided to give them a try. Thanks to my stylist Ms. Day- you my dear went above and beyond with your magical hands from the braiding to the sew in. 5- you have gained a new client and I'll definitely share my thoughts experience with friends & family

Minimal leave out. Hair was purchased from True Glory, Deep Wavy-Indian

Professional, friendly staff. They have a side where you get your hair braided by a braider, whoever is doing the actual sew-in comes over for a brief consultation to figure out what you are getting, part location, how many bundles etc. They sell their own bundles as well. Then, once that is done, you go to your Stylist for the sew-in to be completed. I went here one time years ago and they did a great job, but I never went back until Feb 2021. I had no issues, my hair is still going strong, I chose the option to have a net added, they include 3 bundles(not the actual hair, that would need to be brought with or purchased there) with the sew-in and it's an upcharge to have a 4th sewn.

I've been getting my hair done here for the past 5 years. They've always been very professional and very consistent. I've had many different stylist there take care of me and they've all been friendly. They work fast , they don't braid too tight and they have extremely great prices.

I honestly don't know why this place has negative reviews. I have been getting my hair done here for 3 years now and EVERY time my hair comes out great. Porsha does my hair majority of the time. However, regardless of who does it it's always superb. I also saw comments about how it looks. I don't think it should be a problem about how the place looks as long as it's not dirty and disturbing. I honestly think this place does excellent hair. Yes some teenagers work there but they're only braiders so what's the big deal. If you're looking for a reasonably priced place to get your hair done this place is perfect. You guys are failing to mention the type of hair you purchased to install because maybe that's the problem.

I really don't know where to start…read more I am new to the Atlanta area. My appointment was for a strawberry blonde coloring and sew in extensions which I called about beforehand to ask if they would be able to do as I know both require specific expertise. I was told that they could absolutely do that. I asked if there was a number I could send pictures of the hair color as well as what my extensions looked like to and they said they wouldn't need that. My hair is very fine for context. Any (trained) stylist would be able to tell from touching it and probably even just looking at it. The stylist (Naj) stripped my extensions from either the box cutter or the craft store thread that she used on my hair. The thread was very thick and I could hear it grinding against either my hair or the extensions. At one point, she cut my extensions into pieces and cut the ends off of the pieces "so they wouldn't stick out". I have been getting sew ins for around two years from a variety of stylists and have NEVER had anyone cut them on the seam. I lost around $1500 worth of extensions from the visit. The extensions have since unraveled and the hair is falling out in chunks. When she was installing the extensions, she FOLDED them and due to the insane amount of hair she put in one spot, I could feel the extensions sliding out of my hair (again my hair is very fine) and I am fairly certain that is why they fell out. Layering is normal with extensions and I have had that done before but the folding damaged the extensions. There were no extensions anywhere near the top or front of my head. I have never seen extensions applied this way and it made styling my hair difficult to say the least. Again, I didn't know any of this was a problem until it was too late BC I AM NOT A HAIR STYLIST. She used white blonde beads and white thread on my brown roots. I was at the salon for 7-8 ish hours and left with my hair wet and not styled as I did not have time to stay for longer (it was dark outside). Around hour five of the appointment I still had my head in the sink and she had still not finished coloring my hair. She also left bleed marks in my hair and left the bleach in my hair for over an hour. I now have breakage all over my head and my length is uneven and inconsistent with the volume. I left the salon with brown hair that was essentially my natural hair color. She had bleached my entire head including my ends which is apparently very bad for my kind of hair. Again, I have no idea what is or is not good for my hair when it comes to dying... thats why I pay someone else to dye it. Two weeks out from extensions being "put in" and they were falling out. Like I'm talking halfway hanging from my head. When I went back to get them fixed they said they were booked and only had time to bobby pin them to my head. This obviously only lasted a few days and they eventually fell out completely. They are now in a plastic bag. This left me with two small wefts of extensions on either side of my head leaving me with the only option being to put my hair in a bun until I could find a new stylist. When the owner texted me to follow up about the horrific experience I had she informed me that Naj has been doing extensions for eight years.... right. She also tried to use the owners health issues as the excuse for Naj destroying my hair.... pretty disgusting. My new stylist spent an hour trying to get the extensions out of my head because the hair was knotted around the weft from the method she used to install them. It seemed to me that this might have been her first encounter with extensions. I recognize that it is difficult to find someone that does the same method of extension application as my original stylist. I called many salons who said that they were not able to do that method so when I called this one and was told that they did, I assumed that meant that they could do this method. It is infuriating to find that not to be the case and have eight hours of your time wasted. One star is too many because I am in the negative both with the cost of extensions and with the cost of having to attempt to repair my hair. DO NOT LET THEM TOUCH YOUR HAIR.

A family emergency came up and I wanted to weigh my options, so I called to ask about their rescheduling/cancellation policy-- to no avail. I then resorted to texting to ask them and I typed out a clear and concise message that indicated that I was inquiring only and didn't intend on changing my appointment at that given time. The message read: Hii! I wanted to know that if I wanted to reschedule, would there be any penalty/issues? I don't know if I need to yet, just weighing my options. Alexis, the owner, told me there was no penalty and that I can reschedule online if need be. After speaking to the airlines to change my flight to extend my stay (for the emergency, my grandfather passed), I decided to try to simply reschedule my appointment for a later date. After having issues booking online, I decided to call back because the same thing happened with booking my initial appointment. And Alexis manually went into their system to change it, and thought that perhaps she could assist me again. Instead, she texted me an incredibly RUDE and insensitive text, following another that said that she cancelled my appointment although I never asked for her to do so. There was no apology, no customer recovery, nothing. Attached you will see the text messages, please read them. And please do yourself a favor and DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE RESPECTED AND HAVE GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE, because you will not get it from them. I really wanted to support a Black owned business, but there are others in the city that deserve the money that you'd spend here. UPDATE: Per the business owner's response (Alexis), she has made it even more apparent that her overall inadequacy and inability to thoroughly read, be honest, and even manage her books properly is alarmingly unprofessional. In the response (below), she claims that they "went out of their way to accommodate me past business hours," which is a prime example of her fragrant dishonesty. I simply asked her for whatever time that was available for my booking. I never asked for a time. Alexis took it upon HERSELF to book me at 6pm and not 6:30pm, as she claims. Please see below for proof of my statements via Alexis and I's text message conversation. In addition, I did call at least 4 times to try to be considerate, so I wouldn't cancel my booking. As I mentioned in my initial review, I had just received news of my grandpa's passing and had to change my flight to attend the funeral. When I messaged her (see texts below), I apologized for the calls and notified her of my family emergency-- which she chooses to ignore-- and even settled to come in for the appointment still because I didn't want to throw off their schedule. With the passing of my grandpa, I simply wasn't thinking of if the business was closed or not, and just wanted to get in contact with someone who could possibly give me information on rescheduling, if I decided to. Also, since when is calling a business when they're "not open" an inconvenience? If their contact number was solely their business number, someone calling during the daytime closed or not, isn't bizarre-- logically. Simply put, this all stemmed from a very prideful, egotistical business owner that refuses to own up to her mistakes and apologize for cancelling my appointment, when I only contacted her to get information on their rescheduling/cancellation policy. I believe that she may have trouble properly reading. During our entire exchange via text message, I was so kind to her. Never gave a rude or snappy response. So I'm unsure why she deemed that I wasn't a "good fit for their business." I will also be contacting the Better Business Bureau on this matter.
