Well I went back yesterday to get the same hairdo of distressed butterfly locs and instead of paying the same price of 410, I was charged a total of $512. I had to pay a $100 non-refundable deposit then 412.00 for the balance with the credit card service fee included. Just to receive a different hairstyle that I don't know what it is. I was told after I sat for 6 1/2 hours that Tee didn't have the glue to give me butterfly locs because the glue wouldn't open. Now she never mentioned in the beginning I couldn't get the hairstyle I was paying for without glue. If I am paying $500, which we established at the beginning why would you give me a different hairstyle instead of asking me to wait at the salon while she go get another bottle of glue. The old me would not have paid for this and it would have been a huge issue however she prayed before she did my hair just to be dishonest. Then when Tee found out I was dissatisfied she got loud and defensive and asked me if I wanted to wait for her to get glue to fix my hair. Who would do that after they sat for 6 1/2 hours on the same day when that is what you should have done initially. On top of that my coupon was not honored, which I had just received after I booked my online appointment, a week ago. I was told it just expired however you are the owner so you could have honored it. Since, I even allowed her to keep the hair I didn't use because I always brought my own hair. Everyone told me she was over charging me! I'm from Detroit, the Mega of hair so I knew her work and prices were not right but I thought I was helping a fellow Christian. Why those that seem the most spiritual are the most dishonest people? I will not be back because I previously overlooked some of her sloppy work which another time I was charged $700 and I never received the receipt for the other time of being charged around $615 or more, which are outlandish prices, for butterfly locs. Omni Braids is fantastic! I had my first appointment with them on Friday for box braids and they came out beautifully. The salon itself is clean and well kept. I observed as they prepared before and cleaned up after clients. It's very sanitary from the salon area to the bathroom. I was greeted by the ladies when I arrived and asked to sign in. They even had a sign out process to evaluate their work and the customers experience which really impressed me because that made me think feedback is respected and welcomed. I had no complaints. I got small, bra-length box braids and they are gorgeous! Abby was the main braider and Tina and Dani assisted. Tee, the owner, asked for a picture of how I wanted them and I showed her and told her my concerns for making sure my hair was appropriate for my job. She made some suggestions and I agreed. She told me the price (a little higher than I expected but totally worth it all things considered) and then made sure the braids were how I asked and ensured the ladies installed them to her standards (kinda like a teacher would monitor and provide feedback to your work). The ladies made sure to follow directions and the braids came out beautifully and evenly. They didn't pull too tight or make them too heavy for my hair. My edges are protected (Hallelujah)! Even with that I believe they will last a long time and it's the perfect style to have as I prepare to have my baby in a few weeks. My appointment was made the night before and I rushed to get my hair washed and conditioned before arriving but did not get to dry it. That wasn't a problem because they dried my had for me better than I would have done myself making sure to moisturize and use heat protectant for my hair's health. I appreciated that. Another think I'd like to note is how well they each treated me. At 8 months pregnant, they made sure I took breaks throughout the time there to stretch and move around. They offered a chair to put my feet up. And generally adjusted to my comfort needs. I was allowed to use their wifi and work while they braided. I was served a snack and juice and allowed to choose Netflix shows to watch throughout the day. They even helped me carry my heavy work bag to the car at the end and wished me well for my delivery. This is far better service than I expected and it was very much appreciated. Beautiful hair. Great service. Nice atmosphere. I will be back and will tell my friends about this place. Tee and Abby are great! I went in a little over a week before my appointment for a consultation, which was recommended when I called to get a price quote. They wanted to make sure they could see what they were working with before they just threw some random quote over the phone. There are many different factors that play a part in their pricing such as, texture, length, style to name a few. They charge a small consultation fee of $25 , which they apply to your overall cost if you get your hair done there, if you choose not to use them for their services, you just pay that for their time. Tee really worked with me and my budget, and she actually put more time into my dreads than she originally thought it would take. I previously had them twisted a couple months before but did not maintain them properly, so this created more work for her to have to do. I was there longer than either of us anticipated (we watched several movies, thanks to Abby, and had dinner together), however I'm very appreciative she took the extra time to make sure it was done properly and would not unravel with proper maintenance. This is a process with natural hair locking. I will definitely go back to her for future maintenance. read more

I decided to wait a week to give a realistic review. The two stars are more based on the good customer service rather than quality of the braids, which I give 1 star. If I could, I would give it 2.5 I called last week to make an appointment. I was told someone would call to follow up, and that never happened, but that was no biggie. I ended up calling to see if my appointment was still on since there was ice on the road, long story short - I ended up getting a call later on to say that I can come in 45 mins if I still want it done. I get there and I have to say, the shop was clean and comfortable but I am SHOCKED by the charge of $220 for my Senegalese twists. I want what I want, and if this is the price, based on the reviews, I am thinking that I will walk out ecstatic and my hair will look good for the next couple weeks. WRONG! While I was initially happy, its a week later and it looks like I have has my hair done for a month. I will not be returning to this salon. There are too many African braiding spots here to settle for so-so work at that price. read more

I have natural hair and was in desperate need of a wash and braids to wear underneath a wig as I didn't have the energy or desire to tame it all myself. After tons of searching I decided to call Omni Braids Weaves & Locks to see if they'd take me as a walk-in. The woman I spoke to on the phone who I later learned to be was Abby, informed me that they could take me ASAP for a wash and simple cornrows. Upon arrival I was greeted, discussed again the services that I desired, asked to sign in, then was taken away to wash by Abby. I cannot sing her praises enough. She washed my hair thoroughly and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. After my wash she sat me in her chair to blow my hair out in sections, then proceeded to give me 10 cornrows. I'm extremely happy with the end result, so much so that I've decided to rock my cornrows and not hide them underneath a wig because they're just that BOMB! I'm extremely tender-headed and at no point was I in any pain while Abby handled my head which is often an issue for me and why I don't get my hair braided more often. But after my experience, they're certainly going to be my go to when it comes to braids and protective styles. The level of professionalism and customer service provided was simply excellent. There are intake and outtake forms to fill out for basic information as well as feedback for them in regards to your experience and level of happiness with your hair. Even with really good care this style didn't hold up well for very long. With headwraps, scarfs, and headbands I was able to stretch it out to two months. While that doesn't seem terrible, $425.00 is tough to justify for two months. The silver lining is that paying this much for a style made me unwilling to spend so much money again...I got some braiding hair, got on YouTube and I haven't been back to Omni's or another braider since. read more

These ladies are skilled at many types of braids. Abby did my Marley Twists and I watch Tee swiftly do sew-in, refresh some locks, and was starting some lemonade braids. A few months back I got box braids medium length from Omni braids and the service was phenomenal. However I was disappointed that my style did not last. Typically when you go to a salon and are unsatisfied you chalk up the loss and move on. After posting my negative review the owner of Omni reaches out to me willing to re do my style at no charge, and apologized for the disappointment. My appt was scheduled for today 2/6 @3 and after a brief consult and review of pictures the stylist expressed that at Omni they have integrity and pride in their work and would have appreciated if I would have reached out to them and expressed my disappointment. And I agree with that. I am happy that a business in such a competitive industry was willing to re do my hair and talk it over with me. The place is clean and the staff are very nice. The first time I went she did a great job mimicking the style I wanted and it was very neat. The second time I went the same stylist completely missed the mark. I ended up with something totally different than what I showed her and it was not neat. Each time I felt I was overcharged for the styles I received. $100 for cornrows to the back and $100 for cornrows into a side bun. I will say they don't pull your hair too tight. I got Kinky twists along with a wash, deep condition, and a blow out. I've been natural for five years now and this is the best work anyone has ever done with my hair. A year before I had a bad experience. The kinky twists weren't tight. My dandruff was completely gone from the wash and after the deep condition, my hair was so nourished. I have eczema and I haven't needed a conditioning treatment in two weeks. No one has ever put so much care in my hair. read more

Extremely unprofessional people. The young girl at the front desk is rude, and has no concept of customer service. I requested the individual crotchet faux locs, and started to make an appointment, but wasn't sure if I could make the time slots available, so I didn't complete the reservation. The next day the business called me to urge me to pay the deposit. I explained I wasn't available until a certain time, and she assured me that I could come at a later time provided I pay the deposit. I obliged, initially believing that they cared about me as a customer to accommodate my needs. That turned out to be completely false, because she was only focused on getting my deposit. I inquired about pricing over the phone as well on the website, and the girl said it depends on how long you want it, not giving me a range. I get to the appointment on time and the girl looked at me blankly, like she didn't know why I was there. As I was filling out the info, she asked where my hair was. Now, I've gotten my hair braided several times in my life. In my experience, I've never been asked to bring my own hair to a shop. If you're charging shop prices, I expect the hair to be included. She said "There's a beauty supply store you can go to.", which infuriated me. Where was the communication? Nowhere on your website do you state I must bring my own hair, nor did you mention it over the phone. I would have had no issue bringing it, provided they let me know beforehand. I ubered there, so running to the store wasn't an option. I asked for box braids instead, since they had the hair available. We couldn't agree on a price, so at that point I just asked for my deposit back. The rude young lady said I can't get it back because it covers the appointment. I asked her what services were rendered and she couldn't come up with an answer. At this point my time and money had already been wasted by coming to the shop at all. She kept saying I can't get my money back, calling who I would assume was her boss, speaking ill of me, as if no one else can understand her language. She got another, much nicer young lady involved, who at least had the decency to apologize for the miscommunication of the business. I had to speak with three people, even putting on her personal cell phone to speak to a boss who finally decided she'd give me my money back, once they realized I wasn't going anywhere without my deposit. The three women kept stating they were the best braiders. That might be true, but work on the other aspects of running a business, and stop trying to steal from potential customers! I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE WASTE THEIR TIME AND MONEY AT THIS LOCATION! Prices are high, and customer service is not a priority. If you're looking for a better suggestion, go to Lima's Hair Braiding off Candler-McAfee. Much better place. read more
