Let's begin with the application process. It's a whole questionnaire to ensure you are a fit for their salon. They explain the process of your initial haircut and the length of time it will take. They also explain their deposit requirement, cancellations, and fees (should you arrive late or not show up). Make sure you read ALL of it. You'll have to include pictures of your hair and what the style you'd like to achieve. Next step, they call and verify you're a good fit for their salon. Agree on a date you're available and send you a link. You must respond to the link within one hour to pay the deposit. Then you'll received a text message which led me to believe I was good to go. The day before the appointment you will need to wash and style your hair. This is common for curly salon appointments. It seems natural to assume the day of the appointment goes as planned because you've paid a deposit and know you will lose your deposit and be charged the full price of services should you not show up. Well no, I show up and provide them my name. The girls at the front are young and do a poor job of hiding emotions. I immediately know something is wrong. Long story short, my appointment was not officially scheduled because I didn't respond "yes" to a text message. I show them and explain the message doesn't say I have to respond yes. They decide to schedule me two weeks out. The owner Robin is nearby comes and speaks to me and agrees to move me towards the end of the day. Great, I move my schedule around and know it's going to be a busy day for me. I arrived later in the day and finally get my haircut by Emmy and the hair was styled by Robin. During the cut Emmy says she has one year experience. Luckily, I know my hair will grow back so I remain optimistic. The product they try on my hair appears to be working well on my hair. I leave content and with a bag full of purchased product. Later during dinner, my friends and husband (who usually doesn't notice anything) begin to comment on the long pieces of hanging hair. No biggie, curly hair does odd things and it appeared fixable. The following morning, my hair is super dry and feels brittle. I have to work so it goes up in a bun and stays there until I have the opportunity to wash it. I washed it and decided not to use the products I was sold because it's pretty obvious my hair didn't like the products. I reached out to Robin and sent pictures. She tells me to call the salon to schedule an edit and reminds me the product has to be returned before 15 days. My edit appointment is scheduled past the 15 days so I decide to keep the hair tied up until my appointment and to swing by to return the product. I arrived at the salon and Robin tried to convince me to keep the shampoo and conditioner. She said next time I can purchase the product they use to style my hair. I explained I will not do so because I want to make sure my hair likes the product prior to any purchase. I am told I will receive store credit. I leave and the text messages begin. Y'all can read the messages and form your own impressions. I returned for my hair edit and I was a little apprehensive because of the text messages and decide to bring a friend. Robin greeted us and got straight to work. She agreed the shape on the bottom needed to be shaped and makes a few edits on the front. I was in and out in 15 minutes. This was my experience at the salon. It seems others have an overall great experience. I think my hair was cut by someone who had less experience with very tight curls and well the results show the lack of experience. I am not sure why I was scheduled with Emmy since they saw my hair in photographs and saw it in person. There was no surprise regarding my thick curly locks. Overall, I was not very satisfied with the whole experience. Robin was very polite when I returned for the edit but the messages that were previously sent left me feeling like her politeness was not fully genuine. Either way I appreciate the professionalism the day of the edit. I wish the company well but am happy to be done.

Southern curl has quite literally changed my life. I'm so upset that I've only just discovered it. They are extremely professional, sweet and considerate. Not only were they master curly hair whispers, but they were also very kind, thoughtful, and accommodating. There was no waiting, no going back-and-forth from client to client. I was the sole client from beginning to end. I felt like a queen. I wish there were more of these type of salons around. I cannot recommend this place enough. jasmines, expertise and knowledge on curly hair is outstanding I walked out feeling and looking like a million bucks! It was worth every single penny that I spent. Jasmine had my hair looking like I've always dreamt it should look. The educational aspect of my session was top notch! I learned so much about my hair that I couldn't have learned from watching curly haired influencers. Not one of the many influencers that I follow throughout my life has taught me as much as I learned from Jasmine in one session. She is a treasure!

TLDR: I would give them 100 stars if I could. Worth every cent. You will not regret coming here. Book your appointment now. Details: This is going to be a bit long because they so deserve it. I was one of those people that thought the only way to look pretty was to have straight hair. I hated my curls and did everything I could to burn it straight. It wasn't until recently that my best friend with luscious curly hair inspired me to give mine a shot, but it was overwhelming to figure out and get right on my own. That's where I feel that this salon is a gift from heaven. I was so lucky to get matched with Robin as my stylist. You can really see her passion for wanting to help curly-haired people shine through. She has made it her mission to learn everything there is about curls to then pass on that knowledge to her customers (more on her below). The very minimal knowledge I had done prior to coming (the Pinterest "what curl-type do you have, 3A, 3B" etc) was immediately debunked. Before even washing or styling my hair, Robin sat with me to hear my story, to listen to my frustrations, and to analyze my hair type. Explaining how there is so much more to a person's curl than just its curly shape as Pinterest suggests. After finding my exact curl-type, something immediately clicked and she knew exactly what I would need. So many cool moments of me sharing "I use x product" followed with her insane knowledge of "that will work for "x" hair, but you don't have that thickness, so it's weighing you down. What you need is "x" instead". I felt so trusting of her and her knowledge was unparalleled. After the amazing cut, she then also spent time teaching me how to style it with the products she was recommending. She was sooo patient with me and we did it over and over until I got it right and felt confident that I could do it at home. I never felt rushed which was so special. And I never felt like she was just pushing random products on me to make money. She really cared about my hair and was only using products that would actually make an impact. I was scared that my "hair salon" curly hair was going to look so different after I did it on my own, but it's amazing that after my shower at home and my own styling with what she taught me, my curls look like I have just come out of the salon again. It is such proof that she knew exactly what she was doing, and gave me the perfect advice on what I needed for my unique hair type. On Robin: She is a one-in-a-million stylist -- she mentioned that they usually cut the hair first and then do the moisture treatment, but in looking at my hair, she said "you know what, let's first do the treatment, dry you, then cut, then dry again and then style -- I think that's what we need for your hair". It was going that extra mile for me that I was so amazed by. It was her ability to pivot to adjust to my needs with her intuitive knowledge of what will work for each person's curls. She didn't have to do that -- she could've totally just cut my hair, styled me once and leave it at that, but she wanted only the best and took that extra time with me to make sure it was perfect. Price: yes it's expensive, but I've learned the hard way that you just can't get quality for cheap -- and I'd much rather spend what I spent here with long-lasting knowledge of how to style my curls daily, with products that actually work, than to keep spending $125 at 6 different salons trying to get it right. You get the ENTIRE package here. It's an investment piece and one you won't regret. To me, it honestly felt like a steal considering everything they offer and give you during your appointment. Salon: I literally felt like I was at a 5-star hotel. They have a free snack bar stocked with all the little treats, cookies, chips, teas you can think of that you can grab at any point in your appointment. The hair-wash room has warm ambient lighting and smells so good, chairs are so comfy. I almost took a nap getting my hair washed. All the staff were so sweet and friendly and warm. Treatments: I know it's paying a little more, but the hydration treatments they have and offer are a MUST. My hair felt like glass with how smooth it was, and at first we were actually saying how much we'd have to cut off with how dry my hair was, but after doing the treatment, we realized we didn't have to cut much hair at all! All my hair needed was a moisture treatment. If you are serious about embracing your curls, you HAVE to come here. It will give you the foundation you need to build on, to feel so confident and beautiful and to never want to look back on straight hair ever again. I will never go anywhere else ever again.

Everyone was professional and super nice. However; Southern curl did not have the styling product to accommodate my 4C hair. I have a regular Stylist who keeps my curls poppin! I went in hoping for a different look. I should have kept my hair the way it was. 3 hours and $250 dollars later my hair looked much better when I arrived than when I left. The next day my hair was frizzy and crunchy. I have not seen it looked that bad in awhile. See pic attached.

Southern Curl brings Southern Charm and Hospitality and How! By far this was one of my best salon experience! I heard of this place from a coworker and decided to get my first curly haircut with them. I had to fill a form online with all my information and then was called fairly quickly to schedule an appointment. The appointment itself however was about 2 months out! Yes! That's how busy they are! The salon itself is gorgeous and the design aesthetics are just gorgeous. Upon arrival a staff showed me around the salon and it's varied spaces. My appointment was with Robin, the owner and she is simply wonderful! She took time to get to know me, hair routine and inquired extensively about my hair expectations. Through my whole cut and style process I was talked to and lessoned.. this is a first for me. By the end of it I was rocking some gorgeous curls! Robin provided all steps and products used on my hair in a folder to take with. I was also given an opportunity to buy the products and I didn't feel they were pressuring me to buy. The staff and Robin remained masked at all times!while the cut was a little more expensive that what I would like to pay but I felt it was worth it! Overall: I loved coming to Souther Curls and have already booked my next one before leaving my first!

Where to even begin? In short, this was a complete life changing experience and worth every single cent! Also, can I be best friends with my stylist? That was the most fun 3 hours I've had in a long time! I am that girl who always hated going to get my hair done; hours in a chair isn't my idea of a good time. For the last 4 years, I let my mom trim my hair in the backyard to avoid paying for something I hated doing. However, during the COVID pandemic I started to try embracing my curls (I had been wearing a ponytail for the last 2 years trying to manage it) and I kept reading about a curly girl cut. I did some research and found out people literally drive from all over the country to go to this salon that was 15 minutes from my house. I was ready to take the plunge. When I saw the price for the first time experience I was sort of in shock, however, I figured four years of saving money on my backyard hair cut would pay for it. I cannot put into words how much I would of paid for the experience and vast amount of learning I got from this 3 hour appointment. I wish I had done this from day one and saved on all the products I spent hours reading about online. And I am not the type of person that EVER thought products made that big of a difference. WRONG! So so so wrong. I was able to hold a mirror as my sweet (wish we could be best friends) stylist used different products in my hair to figure out what was best for me. Talk about personalized. I could visibly see the difference right away. That stringy mess ive been dealing with my entire life was creating beautiful curly clumps! She went on to teach me more about techniques for applying products, styling, and drying my hair type. Then I get an entire folder with detailed information so I can do all this at home! No more only having a good hair day if I go to a salon. It's like this place has all the curly girl secrets for all different types of curls and you get to have them all! I no longer have a halo of frizz and string curls and I want every curly girl to know they deserve this experience!

Highly recommend Jasmine! It was my very first curl cut, she was very informative, patient and kind throughout. She answered all of my questions and did an amazing job on the cut!

I am so happy with my hair! I'm so glad I finally came in to see y'all for a Curl Discovery consultation. I have spent years not being heard by other hair stylists when I asked for help with my hair. Diamond, you are an angel! I'm looking forward to coming back for my haircut.

My curls after just a cut, and style

Just moved to ATL and was looking for specialist to get my hair done. This salon is more than a salon for your hair, this is a school for you to learn how to take good care of your curls. I mean the knowledge they have is amazing. My stylist was Jasmine and she was great, sweet, patience, aware of my needs as a client. Everyone is nice and welcoming.

I came in for the very first time a couple of weeks ago and had an appointment with Christina. My appointment from start to finish was delightful. I like the aesthetics of the salon. It isn't pretentious but instead very welcoming. Its is also quite clean which is a plus. I appreciated the tour before we started the actual hair portion of the service. We started with a consultation to learn more about my hair struggles, my haircare routine and what I wanted to achieve from my visit. I showed her a cut I previously had that I liked but trusted her to work her magic. After cutting myvhair we went the wash room which I found to be quite relaxing and probably my favorite part of the process. I wish I had someone to wash my hair for me all the time! Christina took the time to explain which products she was using, how much of it, and what the purpose of the product was. After the wash, I could definitely tell the difference in my hair but after it was dry I was quite impressed. My hair was curling in a way I didn't know was possible. I loved it! I ended up purchasing all the products used and found the folder of my personalized haircare routine and tips super helpful. I look forward to coming back!

Going to Southern Curl is an all over wellness experience! So much thought was put into every detail of the space. It is warm and inviting filled with a positive vibe and embracing energy! The stylists are top notch. They know they're specialty so well. But beyond that, they are so customer service oriented. The space is so inviting. There are walls of positive affirmations, a great coffee corner, and the most comfortable wash chairs I've ever seen in a salon. All the stylists are so well trained. They explain what they are doing and help teach the customers how to replicate the style at home. Robin, the owner, is hands on. This is the best salon I've ever been to!

Kendra taught me sooo much during my 1st appointment! I can't believe the difference. The products are great as well my hair is definitely responding to the process & steps I now know how to do PROPERLY lol. We need more SouthernCurls shops in every state - total game changer!!

So great ambiance. I walked up and they had a sign with all the clients names on it saying welcome. Cute place, rustic theme. They take their time and explain what they are doing to your hair. Never felt rushed like I was just another buck in the jar. The hair wash is great- you lay back like you are on a massage table- no painful or uncomfortable washes. They offer you snacks and drinks to make your stay comfortable and I got out at a reasonable time frame. My curls? Look great. Brought in my products and they explained why not to use some. My curls left Looking alive and bouncy. Was so impressed.

Asked for highlights and showed the owner a few photos of the color I wanted which was more towards the ashy blonde/light brown side and perhaps w/ pink or purple highlights. I was drawn to this salon because of the amazing pictures, so I did innately trust the owner who seemed to be extremely personable and professional to color my hair at least decently. Went home under natural light to find my hair color two shades darker and basically black with some barely there highlights behind my head that were inside my hair. Went to another hair salon ten days later to color correct, and the stylist literally said: "i don't get it, there are literally strands of white that haven't been dyed just like randomly put into the back of ur head". Felt like my hair was dyed on a whim, and she didn't really put much thought into if I liked it or not. I remember texting her to get a color adjustment before I took matters into my own hands-- she texted back once that she'd be willing to and then I never heard from her again after multiple attempts to reach out. It's funny cuz I would've dropped any amount of money just to get my desired result, and would've been a faithful repeat customer. The photos show the effect I wanted and what it turned out to be. I can't think of any other reason why they'd do this since they all seemed so nice, except that she thought she could get away with it.

Be prepared to wait even though you have an appointment time and the prices are on the higher side…read more My only expectation for this appointment was to be on time and to leave on time (with everything done the same day). My personal experience: I recently relocated to Georgia and I was looking for places to go and figured I would try the HairLoft because I follow them on Instagram and they had an available appointment on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 4pm so I booked right away (keep in mind this was my day off from work) I booked with Dee short for DeAndrea because I didn't understand what Level 1 or 2 meant on the website and the website did not explain this so I picked randomly (this could easily be fixed with a short definition or years of experience put by the stylist name). My appointment time according to the confirmation from the salon was 4pm-5pm (VERY IMPORTANT) this was for a Silk Press +Hydration Treatment +Haircut. Cost $160.00 for a level 2 stylist (still not sure what that means). I only left a $10.00 tip because well keep reading.... I arrive to the salon at 3:30pm because traffic is terrible here and I wanted to make sure I made my appointment time. I'm taking back to the shampoo bowl right away and on my way to the shampoo bowl, I am thanked by the stylist for showing up early to my appointment. By 4:20pm I am washed, had my hair treatment, and my hair blown out ready to go into the chair for the haircut and silk press (the salon had at least 3 shampoo girls and they rotated with blowing out the hair). I'm thinking this process is so efficient until 5:30pm rolls around and I'm still not in the chair (no one communicates anything with me about running behind). I see another client in front of me and I have to leave at 5:45pm because I had to be back home, keep in mind my appointment time was from 4-5 (I have the email confirmation sent from the salon). So I tell the stylist I have to leave and be back at my house by 6:15 (the drive from my house to the salon is 30-40 minutes depending on traffic that day) and she asked if I could come back later that night, or tomorrow Wednesday, January 3, 2024 but I already had something planned because my appointment time was from 4-5. The only day I could come back was Thursday after work (I get off at 4pm and traffic starts to get bad here around 3pm). I am told to come back Thursday after work at 4:30 so she can finish my hair. So I pay for my service that I did get (wash, hair treatment, and my hair blown out). I was told not to put any product in my hair so I went to work with frizz blown out hair. I arrived back at the salon on Thursday at 4:30 on the dot for the cut and silk press but tell me why another client is in the chair after I was told to be there at 4:30. The kicker for me was they went outside to take pictures for Instagram and I've been waiting since Tuesday to get my hair finish. At this point I'm so over this lady and place. I finally get in the chair at 5pm. The inconvenience overshadowed anything this lady could possibly due to my hair. I'm finally done by 5:30 and this lady has the nerve to try and take pictures of my hair :/ completely done-the audacity. To Management: The point of running a successful business is to get customers but also retain them (this is not the way). If you are paying 3 shampoo girls and the appointment times are still not being met- something is flawed with your business model or the people you have working for you. A friendly disclaimer on your website about the wait times or just someone communicating to clients that the stylist is running behind would go a long way. I hope this helps anyone who recently moved here and looking for hair places.

You can tell that they have passion for hair care, which is why I know that they'll get my hair in tip-top shape. I had an intense treatment with press and makeup application for a business photoshoot - everything came out really great! The whole session was therapeutic from the hair treatment to the makeup application. I will definitely be coming back!

Kevin washed my hair, and that alone was amazing he took his time, and even gave me a relaxing head and shoulder massage afterward (a lovely surprise!). I gave him a $40 tip because his service was so good. I also purchased my hair directly from the salon, and it's absolutely gorgeous!! super soft and high quality. I'm now on week 3 with my tape-ins, and they are still holding strong. What impressed me the most is how my hair has stayed straight all this time. Normally, my straightened hair lasts about 3 days max, but here it's been 3 week and it still looks great. I'm looking forward to my upcoming wash and straightening appointment. SP Hair Care has definitely earned a loyal client in me!
