I came in for a running headlight. There were tons of options as headlights double for hiking, camping, etc. I was able to get a light and be on my way. However, it was a bit overwhelming with so much depth in every area, but "REI" depth - lots of base layers, rows of Gore-Tex jackets, etc. - not a lot of variety in brands and items - seemed a bit stale. I shop a lot at Scheels and Cabela's and they merchandise very well with lots of brands across different price points. It was also hard to find someone that worked there to help me even though the store was empty, but the checkout people were nice.

I took the backpack to the store but was told they only issue refunds or exchanges for 30 days. The salesperson agreed it was a defect but told me I would have to contact Fjallraven for a repair. Contacted the company and felt like they treated me as someone who was trying to rip them off. Sent a copy of the receipt and pictures on the defect. They finally agreed to repair it but I'd have to ship it to them and eat the $28 cost. Not what I'd call good customer service. I'll be sticking with REI which stands behind its products.

They have some pretty high-end merchandise, but I'm seeing some tempting sale offers and they have a rental program that might help you get kitted out for an adventure. This storefront location might be tricky to find at first. Enter through the building's Washington Avenue door, next to the barber shop, then follow the signs through the door there and up the stairs, where you'll spot them. I promise there's a nice store up there! You're on your own for parking but it's easy enough to find metered street parking. With my allergies I purchase the men's cotton socks. Over the years they have become thinner and not as good of quality. They also used to have fun patterns and now it is the boring neutrals. The coats used to be excellent and we own several jackets and parkas. Now the quality is much worse. I purchased a parka and the hood was defective. The only thing that I still consider very good is the supima towel bath sheet. Out of all of the items I purchased in the last few years, I have returned about 75%.
