Companies like this are scams. They charge YOU to give them valuable metals, which they will turn around and sell to make 100% profit! You should be paying the people giving you used computers etc. This kind of company is why a lot of people would rather put their old computers in the trash than have to pay someone. i had a few old computers , old screens that were thicker then a fridge and a bunch of other useless electronics that were only taking up space and 4thbin in astoria seems the best option as recycling is better for the environment (the truth , i am too lazy to wrap up this junk and following my condos protocol for recycling. got a reasonable rate for pickup and whatever and when i got home , the two bulky boxes were gone and less clutter in my crib . they also do computer repairs and other related services . 4 stars on my yelp meter and the era of big bulky heavy computer systems are long gone . read more

I got rid of a bunch of hard drives, cords, disks, etc with 4th Bin. Pickup was great, the people I spoke to were very friendly, and price was fine! They seemed to be the only company I was able to find that has this service for individuals and not businesses. Reached out to 4th Bin, they were very helpful, smart, and came and took my old TV, VCR, and some older computer away for me. They wiped - cleaned my lap-top, and recycled all of them in the most holistic manner possible that will help the environment! They did all this for a nominal fee. I am mostly a fan because they are one of the few companies to offer the computer pick-up/data erasure for recycling for residents in my area. They did a great job in terms of setting up my pick-up on a convenient date/time for me, email confirmation of the appt, and sending an email document confirming data erasure a few weeks alter. I only wish they had returned my initial voicemail when I first tried contacting them. It took leaving a second voicemail two weeks later before I got a call back. Their service was execptional; 4th Bin was in touch with my office every step of the way in setting up a pick up date as well as the days leading up to the pick up and the day after to see if we were satisfied. The 2 employees who came to do the pick up were very professional and took great care in maneuvering around office furniture so as to not bump or chip anything while they were removing the larger pieces of equipment. There are only a few companies in New York City that do computer recycling, and most of them focus on large, corporation-size quantities. 4th Bin picked up my old TV a couple of weeks ago and I was pleased with the service. I emailed them to ask for a pickup and someone got back to me within 24 hours, I think. They were able to pick up my TV at a time that was convenient for me -- they gave me a two-hour window and arrived at the end of it. The people doing the pickup were quick and courteous. What a good deal, too -- it probably would have cost the same, or more, to take the TV by cab to a Salvation Army, but with 4th Bin, I didn't have to lug it down the stairs and into a cab.
