Ovi and his team just wrapped up a rooftop deck build for me - thrilled with the results! Ovi is responsive and offers good input/guidance in the planning phases and his team worked tirelessly to build out our deck in record time after the weather set us back a few days. Highly recommend! read more

Fantastic service and quality! Ovi is vey helpful and explains eveything. We had our roofdeck built which was a difficult job that his team finished up in a couple days. Very happy with it and highly reccommend using them read more

I hired 4th Generation Construction to build a fence at the alley in my back yard. They have actually posted a picture of it - it's the cedar fence. While they did a good job putting up the fence (even though it doesn't feel as sturdy as I'd hoped), there are a few things I am extremely disappointed with. First, Ovi included the price of a lock in his estimate (written!) yet tried to charge me twice for it. Second, he didn't install a hook at the top of the gate as promised. And....get this! They had to remove an old chain-link fence and dig up the concrete in order to put in the new one. And where did they put this concrete?? In a small area between my garage and neighbor's fence!! An area I can't even fit into to remove them, which I couldn't anyway because they are HUGE pieces of cement. WHO DOES THIS? You are building a fence RIGHT NEXT TO AN ALLEY, why not put it in a trash can or even leave it next to them? Because I got the fence done in late Fall and I don't often look at the area next to the garage, I didn't notice until this Spring when it started warming up. Very disappointed. read more

No surprise this company has great Yelp reviews. Within two weeks of me contacting them, 4GC gave me a quote and completed our beautiful backyard fence. Gorgeous work and the workman cleaned up everything. We already recommended them to two people. read more

Ovi and crew replaced most of our Lincoln Square home's rear wood deck and repaired/repainted our front porch. Initially Ovi had estimated that about 10 boards on the rear deck needed to be replaced but when the boards were removed he found evidence of extensive rotting. He explained the risks of waiting to replace the entire floor and some posts and we felt he was completely honest in his assessment so had him do the work. We are not sorry. The deck and front porch look beautiful. Communication was great, they did the work quickly, and they cleaned up well. We will not hesitate to use Ovi and his crew for all of our future construction and painting needs. read more

Emailed twice, once where the email inbox was full - called and left voicemail for quote / appointment. No response or acknowledgement after these multiple attempts. read more

We had a wonderful experience with the 4th Generation team. They were quick to respond and very flexible on timing when we had some lag due to Condo Association voting issues. They brought our 4-storey deck up to code. I can't tell you how much more sturdy and safe it now feels! They estimated 10 days of work and it only took 5, and they even did a bit of extra work for us on the decking that was not quoted or charged. Highly recommended! read more

Ovi and his team are truly amazing. It's a family company and his father is involved in several impactful decisions along the way. We used Ovi and his group for a roofdeck, which was not an easy project. After receiving other bids, I told Ovi I wanted to work with him and to make the project work with my budget. He did exactly that. Not a dollar over budget unless we all agreed that we wanted to make small improvements along the way. He is present often and always returns calls/emails. Any work we do to our house in the future will be through Ovi. His company wasn't the cheapest, but wasn't the most expensive and they finished the project early. Once you meet him, you'll understand why the reviews are so good. He's busy for good reasons! Brian read more

Ovi and crew built a pergola on my deck. Ovi came out, and provided a professional estimate with competitive pricing. He was very organized and on top of things, completing the project in one day which was great! The final product looks awesome, I would happily work with him again. read more

I had a great experience with 4GC! We had an addition to our deck installed. Ovi was quick to return my initial phone call. He came and gave a fair assessment of our project. Our project was started and completed ahead of schedule! I like the fact that this is a family company. They do diligent work that looks great. Thanks so much!! read more

Hired Ovi and his team for a fence repair project. They responded quickly and did a fantastic job. I highly recommend 4th Generation Construction. A few of our fence panels came down during high winds recently and our home builder wanted to build a new fence using all new materials. The fence is 8 years old and aside from a couple of broken posts and a few cracked boards, the fence is still in great shape and we felt it needed repairing, not replacing. We contacted Ovi for a second opinion and he recommended that we repair the fence and reuse the existing panels. Hired! His team did a great job with the repair and cleaned up when they were done. I would definitely hire them for future projects. read more

I have had nothing but a great experience with 4th Generation Construction. They have done a great job with my deck at a very low cost. I have great compliments from my neighbors, friends, and family. They have also done some great work for my home and office as well. They put hardwood floors renovated my bathroom and kitchen. They were very professional. Another plus was they were very responsive and prompt with their answers. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!!! read more

Ovi and his guys built a roof deck with a pergola for me. The finished project turned out great. Ovi was responsive and flexible and easy to work with. The construction only took 3 days from start to finish which was far faster than any other estimate we received. I would certainly recommend him to anybody doing a similar project. read more

We hired 4th Generation Construction to help repair a few posts in our backyard fence. Ovi arrived for the initial meeting on time (!) and was incredibly professional and courteous. After his estimate and the timing he guaranteed to complete the job, we hired them. His team came in and underdelivered from what was outlined in the agreement (only put in three posts of the five that had been discussed). To be honest, I wasn't that happy, but...BUT... I talked to Ovi about it and he made it right. That day he sent out the team to put in another post and deliver a final product I was really happy with. At the end of the day, they did a good job and I think Ovi's commitement to customer service and making his customers happy is worth its weight in gold. We are planning much bigger home renovation jobs and because he made it right, there's a high probability we'll work together again. read more

Ovi and team were fantastic. I had a very unsexy project at my house (resupporting an old front porch), and Ovi quoted it very reasonably, he and his team completed the work quickly, and they did a great job. Highly recommended! read more

I found this business on yelp and I am very happy that I did. We had 4 (Yelp) reputable contractors bid on the project and 4th Generation Construction gave us the best price by far! They put a deck on top of our 5 car garage. It is a big deck and it took them about 4 days to complete. Ovi and his crew are very respectful and honest. We didn't communicate exactly what we wanted to do about the hand rail on the steps and once they had already finished the project and cleaned up we asked them to come back to make some changes which they did swiftly and without additional charges. Ovi was easy to communicate with. I called him 8-10 times leading up to and during the construction and he always promptly answered his phone when I called during business hours. We are planning to use 4th generation again and again as projects come up in our building. Thanks Ovi and crew! Happy Summer :) read more

They replaced the deck boards on my 4th floor deck with a composite. Excellent communication throughout the process. They showed up on time and completed the work on time. They even removed and disposed some unwanted furniture and even structural elements from my deck. The work was well done. Overall I was very happy with them. read more

We had a very good experience with Ovi and his team. They built a custom fence for our yard and we are very happy with how it turned out. We met with Ovi to discuss our needs and he was very knowledgeable and helpful in putting together a design and plan. The whole process was quick and efficient. It took only a few weeks (over Thanksgiving time!), which was super awesome since we were eager to get it done before the ground froze. The team was really pleasant and worked to minimize any disruption to our home. We would definitely use 4GC again and recommend them for any similar type of work. read more

Do yourself a favor with any decking project and hire 4GC. These guys are fantastic. They have been in the business for 4 generations and they show it. They truly care about the projects that they take on. I reached out to a number of contractors who started giving me the run around. They were quoting numbers for the project that seemed to come out of nowhere. I would ask where these numbers came from and they couldn't seem to make them add up. 4GC was very transparent with numbers and also about timelines. I asked them to take on this project late in their season while they were extremely busy, however, they were able to squeeze our deck in with out cutting a single corner. While getting underway with our new deck we thought it would be best to put down a new layer of roofing (we are new homeowners and didn't want to build a new deck and then realize that we needed a new layer of roof in a few years). They responded quickly to this audible and had a new layer of roof and caulking completed in a day. They were quick, clean, and extremely courteous. We are in a townhouse complex in River North with some particular neighbors who like to complain for the sake of complaining. The entire time that Ovi and his crew were working at our place, I did not receive a single complaint from our neighbors. They demo'd the old deck, they laid down a new roof, they built a beautiful deck that covers our entire roof and at the end of each day, they left the area in better shape then when they started. The deck is beautiful. They really did an outstanding job delivering exactly what it is we wanted. Their attention to detail was impressive. They even built us some additional planter boxes and decorative fencing they highlighted the impressive space. I could not be more proud of this new 'outdoor living room' that they built for us. There was even a minor issue with a sealant that was used to protect the wood. I believe that this was a bad batch from the manufacturer but after the winter we went on our deck to find a layer of oil on all of our brand new wood. I called Ovi to come by for a look so that we could discuss what a possible solution would be. He immediately called me back and had his guys coming over the next morning to treat the wood and power wash it. It is back to it's like new condition and I am extremely grateful for how Ovi handled this scary situation. I have worked with many contractors on many different projects. I have never had a better experience than I did with the team at 4GC. I have referred a few friends over to them and I will continue singing their praises. These guys know their stuff and have some of the best customer service around. read more

We had a pergola built on our roof deck by 4GC and they were fantastic! Ovi came by and talked through all our options. He was very clear and concise about what would be best for us. We were very specific in what we wanted and 4GC were easily able to accommodate our choices. They helped us manage our budget and were not interested in upselling us or adding features we didn't want. Once everything had been decided they were very quick to put together their estimate and start work. The workmen who did the construction were very nice and professional. They took less than three days to finish the job. The finished pergola looks great and is very sturdy. We couldn't be happier with 4GC. read more

Ovi and his team at 4th Generation Construction just finished building our new deck stairs and safety rail at my townhouse and to say i'm impressed is an understatement. Ovi was extremely responsive throughout the process from the original quote, to scheduling the date, making adjustments to the original plan, through project completion. When i called for the initial quote, he stopped by the same day, and emailed me not longer after to provide the quote. The job was reasonably priced. He spoke to me in detail about the project, and talked through the options with me. Unlike other contractors I've worked with, he was very respectful, patient, and answered all of my questions, despite having a lot of them. The final result is fantastic, and I'm thrilled with how great it looks. I would highly recommend Ovi and 4th Generation Construction to anyone - he took what can be a very stressful process and made it very easy. read more

Ovi is great to work with--really cares about his customers and doing a good job. We were eager to get it done quickly because great weather was upon us, and Ovi worked with us to get the job done well and without delay. Terrific, trustworthy, personable. Listened to our ideas, was flexible with changes. Great business. read more

Ovi was extremely helpful and detailed with his inspection for our condo association's rooftop issues. Additionally, the 4GC crew was swift and responsive to our timing issues and the difficulty of scheduling a multi unit building around everyone's conflicts. The quality of work after the repairs was of high quality and we have had no roof issues since. read more

The owner of the company Ovi is a really nice and knowledgeable guy. I would definitely recommend him to any of my friends and family.

Excellent experience with 4th Generation Construction. Returned my initial call for a quote the same day, came out to the house for an estimate that afternoon. Work scheduled and completed the following week. Project was replacing wooden stairs/front porch, stripping and repainting iron railings. Finished project in one day. Great communication. Will use again. read more

We had 4th Generation Construction install new railings on our front porch and back deck and build a pergola over our deck. We had very specific ideas of what we wanted--something modern, clean, and sleek. Ovi understood our ideas and even helped us make them better than we imagined. Other companies told us it would take a week of work, 4th Generation finished in two days! As others have mentioned, Ovi is extremely responsive and kept us informed throughout the process. The crew was effecient, skilled, careful, and clean. When they left, you could hardly tell they were there at all. Ovi's father even joined the crew from time to time. He was a knowledgeable, old-world craftsman, pitching in his experience and even design ideas. We will definitely use them again. We have rarely had such a great experience with a contractor! read more

In the fall of 2015, we were sitting on our 3rd floor back deck when our downstairs neighbor had a few work-friends over for dinner. These are not big women, yet we could feel the deck sway when the ladies walked up the back stairs. Our 6-unit, three floor, back decks were built in 1995 when our vintage building went condo. We do our best to care/preserve our decks for longevity with full knowledge that the cost to replace our decks is in the $50,000 range on up. Met with three contractors. Ovi was certainly the most personable and patient in answering my endless list of questions. Proposal was thorough and came in the middle of pricing. His recommendations for deck reinforcements received a thumbs-up from our most knowledge neighbor. Work was done on time, very neat on clean-up. No more swaying and decks are safe and secure. We'll be contacting Ovi in the spring when it's time to replace our wooden fence. read more

Ovi was great to work with. Showed up when he said he was going to and did exactly what he said he was going to do. What more can you ask from a contractor!?! This is the service and quality that we all look for. Plus, he's a great guy and knows what he's talking about. We have found a new team for our building. Thanks!! read more

The team at 4th Generation Construction just finished our deck. A deck I initially wanted completely torn down and replaced with a patio. Due to budget this was not an option, therefore we worked with Ovi to "tweak" the deck and boy am I glad we did not tear it down. It is a beautiful finished product that we will enjoy for many Summers. Ovi was very professional from day 1 and forthcoming about their busy schedule and we were made aware of when our project would get started. When it did get started we were very pleased with how pleasant everyone was to work with and as another reviewer mentioned very clean. When we would return home everything was cleaned up beautifully. This was important as we have a dog and I did not want to find nails and other materials laying in our yard (or stuck in his paws)! Highly recommend this company! read more

Ovi and his team were amazing! We hired them to do a privacy fence, and they were very responsive and had it up within a week of booking the job. They were quick, clean, and courteous. I would hire them again for all decking needs in a heartbeat! read more

Waste of time with this company. Scheduled time to have them come out and do an estimate and so that involves being home, naturally, and waiting and scheduling your time around the appointment. Got an estimate but the guy wouldn't return calls to schedule the work. read more

We had the recent and best experience working with Ovi and his team rebuilding our front porch. I called four people for estimates, two of whom never returned my call, one of whom came and did an estimate and after stating that he wished the job was bigger sent me an estimate six days later that was significantly higher than my 4th Generation one which included all of the same work. Ovi returned my call, was able to do estimate within a week, sent me detailed contract within two days, brought his guys a week later(we were blessed with a couple Days of okay weather), and did a two day job in one long day. My porch is gorgeous, new while still maintaining its character which was so important for the look of my 100 year old House. Having never required this kind of work to be done before I can say that this was the most pleasant, easy, professional experience. I might be having them back to redo my kitchen!! read more

Ovi and his father were wonderful to work with. I hired them after receiving 3 bids for our deck. Ovi listened to all of my ideas (I am a designer), and he was really open while letting me know what was best on the build side. I even changed my mind midstream, and they adjusted the deck. I can be very picky and detailed, and they were very accommodating. They made sure my needs and requests were met. We get so many compliments on our deck, and we can finally spend quality time outside. Thanks Ovi! read more

I received an email from Ovi asking me to remove my review. Classy. I feel this speaks volumes about how a business chooses to operate.

Ovi and his team worked to rebuild portions of the front porch - new railings, hand rails, stair risers, etc. Such a delight to work with the 4th Generation Construction team. Ovi was on time for every meeting, his pricing is fair, and the quality of his team's work is first-rate. After many horrible prior contractor experiences, this was an extremely pleasant experience. All work was completed on time, no surprise change orders, and the communication with Ovi was perfect. This was our first experience with 4th Generation, but they'll definitely be getting a call when our next project comes up! read more

now a homeowner of a single family home, we had an emergency fix that needed to be done ASAP this summer. Ovi and his crew came out within 48 hours and had the fix completed and perfect!! I cannot recommend them enough. They put up a dormer on our attic, brought the electrical to code and fixed an unconnected dryer vent to vent correctly out of the attic. The work is fast, cost effective and perfect. SO MUCH RAIN AN NO LEAKS!!!! THEY ARE AMAZING. read more

I had 4th Generation repair my wood fence. They did a good job, did they what they said they would, and cleaned up after they were done. What was most impressive was the prompt communication in terms of any questions I had and coming out for an estimate on time. Ovi, the project manager, was very helpful and easy to deal with. He did a thorough job of explaining what work they would do and explained everything in detail. They are busy, so be warned it could take a while to get your project in the queue, but other than that, was a good experience. read more

4th Generation Construction built a pergola and privacy fences for our garage rooftop deck. On the front end, Ovi took the time to come to our home, inspect the space and discuss the project. He then followed up with several estimates for different designs. Other contractors we spoke with simply emailed us generic proposals without seeing the property or speaking with us. With respect to the construction, Ovi completed the project over the course of three days. Each night his crew thoroughly cleaned the work site. The finished product exceeded our expectations and looks great. Now we just need furniture, flowers and warm weather before we can enjoy the space! read more
