JAG did a 400 sq. ft. Deck rehab for us switching from treated lumber decking to composite. They were on time every day and finished on schedule, despite some horrible weather. their bid was reasonable, and they really worked hard to make sure we were satisfied with the job. There was one "up" for substructure improvements that was very fair, and there were a few small additions to the job that they did without additional charge. Quality work in every respect, and the little extra touches really improved the result. read more

TL;DR - Low ball bid then an extra $6k in unapproved charges, 3 months of excuses before even starting, terrible communication, so many lies, Adam saying he'd be there then not showing, constant delays due to poor communication or workers being spread too thin that resulted in a 3 week project taking 3 months, terrible workmanship and zero attention to detail, as you can see for yourself in the included pictures. Horrible experience. Working with Adam Malik and JAG Construction on our bathroom renovation has been nothing but a nightmare. So many lies. And excuses. And little to no communication. We signed our contract with JAG on 4/22/22 and received the permits 6 weeks later on 6/6/2022. Actual demo didn't start until 3 MONTHS later on Sept 6, 2022. 3 months of constant excuses and lies and pushing back the start date - with no communication unless we reached out and pushed for answers (in fact one of the many excuses Adam used that delayed the project was that the bathroom window was backordered. The project finally started 3 MONTHS later when it supposedly arrived. Imagine my surprise then when it was time for installation and he didn't have the window and literally forgot he had lied about it, saying it was backordered it would take 2 months to come in!). The miscommunication or total lack of communication continued throughout the project once it finally got started. NO transparency or explanation of who was coming when. So many times Adam would tell us he would be there that day and he just never showed up. Another day I was home by myself and a stranger came into our backyard and sat at our patio table smoking, which was alarming, to say the least. Turns out he was hired by JAG but we weren't given any notice someone was coming and I honestly think they hired him off the street - he didn't know how to use a staple gun and ultimately ended up dropping it and damaging our brand new tub. While Adam knew that happened he didn't address it until we brought it up weeks later, and his solution was to re-glaze it, which did not seem like a good option for a brand new tub, so we got a replacement, which delayed the project even further. All in all it took almost 8 weeks from demo until the bathroom was actually usable (but still unfinished) and almost 10 weeks until the project was officially done, despite our contract stating an estimated 3 week timeline. Let me clarify that none of the delays were due to supply chain shortages, or inspectors appts, or other random things that Adam will try to blame. It was all due to terrible planning on his part and poor communication. JAG also failed the initial structural/framing inspection & the electrical inspection had conditions (something that was on JAGs actual plans that should have been done and we were subsequently charged extra for) which added extra days as well. Maybe worst of all, the workmanship was terrible. The pictures speak for themselves, but the tile looked terrible with uneven grout lines and different color grouts (tile guy was smoking weed all day), Adam himself hung our towel bars - totally crooked and un-level, the faucets were crooked, a worker didn't notice he dripped wood stain on our brand new tile, and Adam's fix for the terrible baseboard finishing? Slap a quarter round on it and paint it. This is a $25k bathroom we're talking about. Everything was completely half assed and if we asked to have something fixed, he made it worse. We ended up touching up and making things look nice ourselves when the project was finished. Despite the horrible experience with JAG, the subcontracted plumber & electrician were great, as well as one of the carpenters/workers - but he was spread way too thin and was expected to work on numerous projects in one day, which was a huge contributor to why things took too long. Don't schedule numerous projects if you don't have the help to work on them. All in all we were definitely low balled and then charged an extra $6k for things that we had initially discussed (like moving the plumbing stack) that were included in the contract. We were never made aware of these extra charges until we got the bill, despite the contract stating we would be notified in advance of any change orders. It was a terrible, stressful 7 month process - two months of which we were without an upstairs bathroom with a preschooler. Overall a horrible experience and we're left with a bathroom that looks unfinished. read more

We moved in May 2022. Had a finished deck Nov 2 2022. It was not a small job and Adam was really helpful the whole way through. I thought I could get away with having a family member do the plans and when that fell through Adam connected me with an Architect who turned drawings around really quickly. Once everything was through the city and ready to start construction, it was done within a month. This was a pretty big job: 550 sqft multilevel deck Electrical for new lighting and dedicated electrical for a hot tub New french doors + paint and finish work -All of the guys on his crew were good at their jobs, timely and professional -Nothing felt like they were skimping. Quality lumber, incredibly well built and reinforced. -Good on the fly design decision making. There were numerous question during construction and each time they came up with a good solution. -Great looking final product I work with contractors professionally, so things that might be an issue for others: most the team is not english as first language and I didn't always know who was working when, or when the job was going to be done, but I just take that as industry standard. And to Adam's credit, every minor issue I had was always rectified. Would 100% use Adam and JAG for this type of project again. Can't stress enough that the final product was exactly what we wanted. read more

We were very pleased with the work completed by Adam and the JAG Construction team. We would highly recommend them. JAG did a complete replacement and staining of our 3rd floor terrace decking that was approximately 480 square feet. The terrace decking sits upon a roof structure that is very uneven. JAG Construction took great care and consideration to ensure that the decking was perfectly level and that all of the deck boards were spaced to allow for proper drainage. We were impressed with the attention to all of the details. They also did a great job staining and finishing the deck boards. Adam was very good with communicating with us the steps involved in the work, the pricing, and was very responsive to emails and questions. Originally we planned to replace only a small section of damaged decking. Adam happily quoted for that small project. In the end we decided to replace the entire deck so it would be consistent in age, quality and color. The project was a double deck with the lower deck screened in. Bidding process was great. Adam was quick with giving feedback and discussing scope and price. I went for 3 bids and JAG was about the same as one other bidder and way below the third bidder. Quick feedback was the reason for picking JAG. The project got delayed about a month due to problems cause by how the architect submitted the drawings, causing the town building department to reject the project. The drawings had to be redone and resubmitted. The inspector allowed us to modify the plan off the drawings as long as we kept to code. This enabled us to have most of the features on the original drawings. Once construction started, the two framers were at site most days. The project took a couple weeks longer than estimates as we were on vacation for 2 weeks during the project and some key details needed to be discussed. The electrical and painting subs were not as good as the JAG carpenters. They needed more guidance from JAG and me. The final product looks great and I am very pleased with it. read more

Adam and his crew tore down an old decaying deck and built a fantastic new screen in porch using Trex composite decking. It is our favorite summer room in the house and no bugs! As with any construction job, there were a couple minor hiccups. Adam responded immediately to my concerns and addressed them immediately. He listened to us when we described how we wanted the porch to look, and checked-in every step of the way to ensure we were pleased with the direction. Adam's team did a very good job repairing and staining our four decks. We were out of state at the time of our job and he was very reliable and dependable in terms of managing access to our property. He also happily went the extra mile, first, by removing and disposing of three very large planters filled with soil and, second, returning the day after the job was complete to return heavy patio furniture to the decks without any pushback whatsoever. Lastly, we had some payment challenges out of our control due to technical issues with our bank and he was very patient and understanding. One small area for improvement might be that his men wear booties while they access decks through the inside of the house and sweep up any saw dust or dirt that's tracked in by their equipment. He more than made up for that in bigger ways, though! It just would've been appreciated and a nice touch. read more

There were some initial communication issues regarding the design, but Adam was super accommodating and worked with us to revise the plans to give us what we wanted and within our budget. I contracted with JAG in late April of 2022 for a demolition and rebuild of an elevated patio deck. The deck that was replaced was the original built with the house and was outdated and becoming unsafe, so decided to go with a Trex composite deck as an improvement. Adam came out promptly after I first called and we discussed the scope of the job and potential timelines. The architect came out within two weeks and we got the full blueprints within a month. JAG pulled the permit with the township and started the job on the date that was planned. No problems were found during demo so they were then able to start on the rebuild of the deck to print. Demo began after Memorial Day and our new deck was completed before July 4th, the JAG team even worked when there was a awful heat spell for a couple of weeks. Deck came out great and everything was cleaned up and yard was left in good condition. Would definitely use JAG again and recommend them highly. read more

We had a contract with this company to provide a garage roof deck with elevated walkway connecting our home to the roof deck. This business (1) changed the plan to a stairwell down to the ground rather than a walkway without discussing with me first. (2) He delayed the project for 3 weeks stating that he needed to wait for a permit, and then started work unbeknownst to us before obtaining the permit, which lead to a stop work order. (3) Unethically, the contractor then said we needed to emergently sign the application for the permit while we were on vacation, and stated that he would just send the signature page for us to sign. Stupidly, we signed without reading the permit application, which requested a permit for stairs, instead of the walkway that we had all agreed upon. (4) When we realized that there was a change in plan, we requested to halt the project until we could obtain the proper permit for the job that we had requested. Once we obtained the proper permit, the contractor stated that he would need to give a new quote (for a higher amount) for completion of the rest of the work despite a contract being signed by both parties. And, now the contractor is not responding to our outreach to attempt to get this project completed. read more
