(Dined 09/12/2025 FR @ 6:00pm): I 4-ever will love sushi!
I was in town for the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), and as I explored the cuisine landscape, I chose 4ever Sushi as my first Toronto sushi experience. I was always down for sushi, and this place seemed just out of the way enough, didn't appear to be high-end, and it wasn't crowded at the time I arrived (could be a good thing; could be a bad thing). Toronto was relatively close to an ocean, so the seafood should be good at the very least. This was going to be my one main meal of the day, so I wanted to make it count and try a bit of everything. Would this sushi joint be forever in my heart the next time I visited Toronto!?
PURCHASE(S)
Molson Canadian Lager Beer 12floz Bottle ($6.95CAD): Bright amber color, floral malty aroma, light body, malty watery flavor, crisp smooth finish, and malty watery aftertaste.
Miso Soup Cup ($2.50CAD): A nice calming soothing albeit salty cup of goodness that warmed you up.
3pc Yellowtail Sashimi ($9.50CAD): Buttery melt-in-your-mouth slices of fresh fish that required no dipping sauces of any kind (sure, I used a smidgen of soy sauce and wasabi on one piece because it had to be done), I easily could've ordered more. The slices of cucumber and strings of noodles were great as palate cleansers as I moved from the miso soup to the sashimi.
10pc Torched Eel Cut Roll ($19.95CAD): Made with spicy salmon, crunch avocado, and topped with torched eel and house special sauce, each thick piece was a mouthful and packed with various flavors and textures that left your taste buds tired. The plentiful amount of fresh spicy salmon really stood out, and I was pretty much done after this order.
10pc 4Ever Cut Roll ($18.95CAD): Made with avocado, crab meat, shrimp tempura, and topped with tobiko, torched salmon and house special sauce, again large pieces that filled your mouth, but this particular roll seemed heftier than my first one. I loved the shrimp tempura, and the house special sauce seemed to stand out more here. Another lovely sushi roll.
SERVICE
I was immediately greeted when I walked through the door by an adult female who sat me at a small table for two (I was by myself). I was given a glass of water, I ordered a beer (which arrived quickly), and perused the menu for a few minutes. Once I ordered, the soup arrived within minutes, and then the rest shortly after that. My tiny table was loaded! Eventually, someone came to collect my empties, I went to the counter to pay my bill, and I was off to my next adventure. Minimal service, but I was fine with that - arigato!
PARKING
(Varied; N/A this instance): I was constantly in the area all day throughout the entire 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, so I simply walked. Otherwise, there were spots along the many main and surrounding streets, some nearby structures, numerous public transportation options, and rideshares - 'nuff said!
ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE
A clean long somewhat narrow no-nonsense floorplan with small tables along the walls which hung a handful of pictures. I couldn't recall a bar to eat at as most sushi places had this feature. A decent amount of natural lighting came in through the front doors and windows while various electric ceiling track lights filled in the rest. There weren't anyTVs, but jazz music played in the background.
ATTIRE
Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops.
OVERALL
I was a fan of 4ever Sushi and would definitely visit them again. They had a rather extensive menu, which I liked, and although I ordered a Canadian beer I never had before, of course they had the standard Japanese beers available. It appeared they did a lot of takeout orders based on the many I saw while I enjoyed my meal. The prices were very comparable, the food was lovely, and the service was straightforward. Plus, I always preferred to support small mom & pop businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $65.00CAD BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted credit cards but not mine of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS read more
