New day, new deal? The bison burger at the 49r just added some new Schwag. Besides the usual delicious, sides this bad boy adds bleu cheese! Mmmm mmmm yes! Follow that up with a desert! BAM!

Vodka tonic, cheers!

We found a hidden gem in Acton! The food was absolutely delicious and the customer service was amazing! The whole place had such a great vibe even the customers were super friendly! We'll definitely be back!

It had been several years since I had been to the 49'r. It is being run by a husband & wife team who are doing their best to make it work. It's definitely a locals place. The place was fairly empty and it took a while to get service. Which was ok. They have a full bar. My wife ordered a mixed drink and I went for beer on tap. Both were good. The menu hasn't changed in years and I ordered what I was familiar with. The butter burger is a favorite of mine and I decided to try another one. The burger was good and had a bunch of flavor. And although my bun was toasted, it was cold. I ordered it medium and it was closer to rare. Which was fine for me as I hate over cooked hamburgers. I remembered their onions rings from the past were fantastic, so I replaced my fries with onion rings. The rings were fantastic and huge. They did not disappoint. My wife ordered the spicy bbq chicken sandwich. The chicken on the sandwich was a bit tough, and the bun was cold. but otherwise the sandwich was good. The restaurant is cozy and comfortable, although some of the tables are small if you have more than 2 people. Also the temperature inside the restaurant was a bit cool. Overall a nice meal and I will probably go back.

What a delightful surprise. We were served by Cecelia - who is a delight and just full of knowledge about the community. Although rustic, it is clean and comfy. The menu is pretty great - they can accommodate for vegetarian and vegan diets and they cater. But we were craving burgers - and these were good! I had the butter burger and the Hubbs had the bison burger. My side salad with house made poppy seed dressing was really good. The burgers were cooked perfectly to order and the brioche buns were soft and sturdy. The fries were perfectly extra-crispy. We took a bread pudding to go. Really a highlight stop.

Very cool place to check out! What a nice bartender, the second we walked in, everyone was just really nice bartender and patrons alike. Very welcoming. The atmosphere is dark and quiet in the bar area, at least when we went there, which I prefer.

A diamond in the rough!! We were looking for a place to stop on the way home and am so glad we found this gem! The staff were so kind, friendly, accommodating and positive! Portions were big and everything was delicious. Not captured here was the steak salad, bbq chicken salad, tuna melt, cornbread and 2 build your own burgers! The atmosphere takes you back and gives you that chuck wagon, comfy food feel! If you're looking for delectable American fair in the middle of nowhere, this is your place!

Here's the vibe.

After spending the day at Willow Springs Raceway, it has always been a tradition to eat at Baracoa afterwards for the past couple of years now. We all love their dishes. The oxtail is raved about, service is always excellent, vibes are great esp on live music nights. This time around, we had a slightly larger party since there were more of us at the raceway this day and we were excited for our friends to finally try Baracoa. We've always had maybe 1 or 2 dogs with us and so we'd sit out on the patio. These dogs are quiet and obedient. They just lie under the table at your feet and are never restless & never beg/bark/whine. Since we had a larger party and now 3 dogs with us, maybe it drew more attention? Our waiter said that he will have to ask the boss if it's okay that we have dogs since usually it's policy to not have dogs on the premises. We were so confused since we've been coming here. The boss/owner/manager, I can't remember exactly his title, came outside and let us know that unfortunately, pets are not allowed, even on the patio. We were all taken aback with nothing to say except having dropped jaws as he was walking away. Before he completely left our sight, we asked when that became a policy since we have always been here with dogs. He said it's always been a rule and cannot speak for his employees and the decisions they make when he's not there. He goes on to state that the pets are unclean and that he has customers. In that moment, I thought, "What are we then? Have we never been customers?" With a firm tone, he asked us to cooperate. It would have been a different kind of feeling if this boss had said ANYTHING along the lines of, "We would love to have you back to dine with us, but please without your dogs." This interaction felt like major rejection, hate towards pets, and to just get out immediately. We had already ordered 3 cortado frios, which I always think is to-die-for here, and that will be our last sips from them. It was also way more sweet than strong this time, sadly. We will not be returning to this establishment.

In 1923, the familiar river rock house was erected and slowly morphed into a diner, truck stop. In 1980, Chef Juan Alfonso took over and continues to this day as a French restaurant where rustic California Oak trees dominate in the back of the property. Sunday between 2-7pm for Happy Hour is ideal for being able to nosh on small nibbles for a 25% discount at the bar. HH is also Tuesday-Friday 4:30-7pm. Only exception is on "holidays". HH: 1) Jamón Serrano: Spanish cured ham thinly sliced. Deeply red brown, meaty, with a fermented, salty sweet porkiness and bit of luscious fat ringing the edges. Cornichons, and summer ripened honey dew melon respectively added a pickled, acidic crunch, and dulcet, fruit, juiciness. Not as fat marbled, plush and deeply porky as Jamón Ibérico de Bellota where pigs are fattened on forest strewn acorns, but still a nice nosh. 2) Shrimp Escoffier: Three plump, moist shrimp tail on in a creamy, buttery Sauce Velouté enriched by dulcet Jerez with its sweet, woody, oxidized fermentation. Velouté was sopped up by slices of the house Bread. Btw, Georges Auguste Escoffier (1846-1935) was a legendary French culinary artist known as "the king of chefs and the chef of kings." 3) Stuffed Mushrooms: Button Mushrooms topped with tomato tasting mostly of French thyme and whisper of garlic swimming in olive oil, baked till soft in a metal escargot pan. 1-3a) Claudia's Grenache, Reyes Winery, Agua Dulce, Ca 2014: Mellow, full bodied red, blackberry with a brown sugar toastiness due to hot summer temperatures. Lower acidity and tannins. Steve, the bartender, was very accommodating and thoughtful in a casual friendly way. When I asked for a wine recommendation to pair with the 3 dishes leaning toward a light red, he let me sample 2 wines to decide for myself. Dinner 5-9pm: 4) Black Bean Soup: Black beans are puréed in chicken broth enriched by cream. Pepped up by fresh ground black pepper. 5) Canard à l'Orange: Extra meaty, substantial duck in a well toned, solid, compact body. Duck was a touch over baked so the meat lost its lushness and dried out the duck, but still acceptable. The skin is crisped and finished in high heat with Grand Marnier orange liqueur. The sauce seems to be a combination of duck pan juices, touch of orange juice, and Grand Marnier for a sweet, citrus fattiness. Garnished with poached orange segments and refreshing orange slices. 5a) Bit over cooked, soft carrots tossed in sugar, salt, & butter. 5b) Pommes Dauphinoise: Potato au Gratin is slices of boiled potato in rich cream and well aged cheese. Touched with earthy garlic and baked to allow all the flavours to infuse. Couldn't sense a soupçon of nutmeg in Le Chêne version, but decadently, very excellent. 4-5b) Claudia's Grenache 6 Soufflé au Chocolat: Fluffy, airy, slightly gooey, very chocolate forward classic French dessert. The sides of the ceramic ramekin became extra hot so the outer perimeter of the Soufflé was crispy. Watery chocolate sauce for extra chocolatiness. Overall a good, old school version of bistrot French. Hearty, cuisine bourgeoise. Staff is responsive and attempts to be proactive. I came to Le Chêne in 1987, but the food didn't impress me enough for me come back. Fast forward to 2026, Le Chêne is worth returning especially in the dark winter months when good solid food seems so de riguer. 4- stars

We started out with Happy Hour at the bar and enjoyed some outstanding food and drink. Complimentary bread and butter were served right away. Then, our appetizers came out one after another, perfectly cooked and delicious. The charcuterie plate and stuffed mushrooms were my favorites. We then adjourned to our table for dinner. The atmosphere is so elegant and relaxing in the dining room, with wonderful views of native oaks. My trout almondine was perfectly cooked and the green salad was well-seasoned. We shared a chocolate soufflé which was a wonderful sweet conclusion to the meal. Because I had eaten so much at Happy Hour, I did take part of my meal home with me. You could do worse than making Happy Hour your dining destination alone! Service was universally wonderful. Our bar server was friendly and informative about the menu items; our table server was cordial and attentive. Free parking in the lot.
