What a wonderful place to hang out with friends and enjoy the night! 417 Taphouse has an excellent Happy Hour including great discounts on both drinks and food. The food options are few, but are of high quality. I had the "forty-two" which included four breaded chicken "nuggets" and two oval-shaped waffles made with love. The taste is wonderful and the syrup is warm. Sadly they do not have honey mustard, but the food is great none-the-less. The waffles are nice and warm, not too heavy, not too light and have a nice crisp. It also comes with their signature fries which are very addicting! There is plenty of food for the money, leaving me enough for a second meal the day after. Other foods tried by other people with high remarks are: Happy hour special chicken tenders and fries, stuffed fries topped with veggies meat and all kinds of cheese, and burgers. The selection of beer and other specialty drinks is excellent. I did not try the card operated beer machines, but they looked pretty stellar. The "Not your father's root beer" is the drink to get for those not as much into beer. It has just the right amount of sweet and alcohol without being too much of either. There is plenty of seating and space both inside and outside with lighting and a smooth atmosphere. Unlike most bars, you do not feel claustrophobic or overly packed into a small space. They also offer a "living room" area with video games and some not so complacent controllers. Other games are also located in the front. Overall, the bar is a great place to go with friends to enjoy yourself, talk, gossip, and enjoy some good ole' video games. Chill place with friendly, helpful staff. read more

How can you go wrong when you are on a Road Trip and visiting for the First Time and they give you a Pass Key to scan the Screens on the Taps and pour your OWN Beer. That experience alone is going to make me a Fan. On top of that our Server was gracious, friendly, and patient in explaining to us how things worked. I didn't have any food but my wife had the Fried Cheese sticks and said they were good. Overall LOVED the feel of this place. Lots of Old Games, Great Service....It has Character! read more

Fun way to drink. We broke their darts but they were super nice about it. I suspect drunken fools have broken their darts before. We'll be back. read more

Ok, friendly service (thanks Joetta), darts, shuffleboard, skee-ball, chicken and waffles, Star Wars (and other) geeky decorations everywhere, Nintendo and couches, and I haven't even gotten to the beer yet! You have the option for self pouring using an RFID chip card to unlock taps around the bar. It even tracks how much you've drank and spent. This place is amazing. My co-worker and I thought of extending our trip into Springfield a few extra days just to get more time at this bar. Next time I'm in Springfield, I'm heading here. read more

Best chicken and waffles in town, maybe anywhere on the planet. Burger is excellent, fries are outstanding and service is always on point.

Good food cool games and awesome geeky decor. The pour your own beer bar is unique and much faster than waiting for a bartender. You can pour by the ounce so you can try more variety of beers too. read more

Me and all my friends came to eat some lunch but were prompted to provide our IDs before we could be served food. No, I did not say drinks. I said food. We were denied service because some were not 21 but all we wanted were mozzarella sticks. We decided to take our business elsewhere, and big whiskeys was much better anyway. screw em read more

Had the German fries and the stuffed burger. The fries were good but I will probably get another choice next time. The burger on the other hand is a winner all day long. I love the self serve concept also. read more

First time visitor. Your bartender Dylan is awesome. Very attentive, immediately checks on you when your glass is empty. He's the type that makes you want to come back. read more

The moment I stepped out of the car, I knew I reached nirvana. Huge selection of beer on tap and godlike chicken and waffles. Bartender in the yellow sweatshirt is the man - made no mistakes and works at a fast pace. Absolute beauty of an experience. read more

Decent alcohol/food and a normal bar environment, but just an average place overall. I'm sure Taphouse is a fun place for many, but I've noticed that certain members of the staff are rude, tactless, and talk down to patrons. If you want the assurance that you'll be treated like an adult in a respectful establishment, then you might consider one of the many other options in downtown Springfield. Like I said above, this bar is too average to get my business again after my last experience. read more

Fun games. We liked playing Mario kart and their available board games. It had a very cool nostalgic vibe. Appreciate the beer selection. They had a great blend of the different beer styles. The service was ok. We Still don't understand the self-serve. The food was good. Nothing extraordinary. Everything was a bit pricey. However, we would definitely go back to it and could see it as one of routine hangout joints. read more

I ordered the cheese sticks along with a seasonal mother's beer and they were undercooked and didn't have any seasoning on them i think the batter was just straight flour. So gross! Not worth 6.00! Don't eat here if you can avoid it! I think they should try diff food. The servers at least the two females were rude. The guy was nice. Cool little area for hanging out with games and a dreamcast read more

This bar is great! The owner met with me and my party just to ensure we had a great time 12/10 I will return. The good and beer was outstanding and customer service knocked it out of the park. read more

This was one of the first actual bars I've ever been to. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's fun to go on weekends because there's more people, so it's a more fun atmosphere. I do prefer going during the week though. Trying to order a drink when they're busy is hectic, you have to fight for the bartenders attention but I don't mind so much. They have many kinds of beers and drinks to choose from. My only thing is how expensive they are in comparison to how much you actually get. I also like that they have some games laid about the place, and then actual board games. Nice place to hangout for a chat. read more

Fun place to hang out with friends and play some games. They have a life size Jenga hat we love to play. We also love playing shuffle board and they have a great table. The fried pickles were not the best. They have lots of shot options and the bartenders are friendly, read more

Didn't think I would like this place at all, I totally loved it though! I love the craft beers they have on tap, I like the concept, the games and the fact that you can have a cocktail made at the bar if you really want one. Springfield needed a place like this! I hope it continues to be successful. We won't get to go out much, but next time we do I plan on stopping in to see what new drafts there are! Pricing is fair for what you get, wolf like to try the food next time... read more

Love this place. Good selection of brews and games!

Fun experience laughing at bad pours from my friends. Perfect place for geeks to hang out.

Both bartenders were rude to my wife, our family, and myself. A good selection of beers is not enough to overcome the poor service.

Fantastic place to go and hang out. By far some of the best beer selection in town and the employees are always friendly. The food is great too! read more

Awesome. Fantastic self-service craft beer taps. Great idea! The craft selection is very very good. Not the best in town but close. Food has been impressive. Chicken and waffles with honey siracha sauce is amazing. And the fries- great seasoning on curly/shoestring fries. Overall I'm incredibly impressed and that's why we keep taking our friends there. Well done. read more

By far my favorite bar in town. They have many nerdy games such as skee ball and a Nintendo 64 with multiple games. Super friendly staff and have no complaints! read more

We visited the Taphouse two weeks ago and had a nice time and decided to go back, bad choice. The bartender was not enthused to be working, the first three brews we ordered from the menu were unavailable, we were brought the wrong order, then we our order did come it was cold. We will probably not return. read more

I liked the decor in 417 Taphouse, however, I am unsure about the hygenic nature of pouring your own beer. Too much of a concern that people wouldn't get a new beer glass for every poir, and contaminate this process. read more

I wish there was a bar like this in every town but it's only in Springfield, MO so take advantage of this awesome place. Totally chill atmosphere to hang out or party with your friends. Affordable drinks and great food plus owners who really care about your experience there. The bartenders are down to earth and experienced. They will take great care of you and make you out of this world drinks or just pour you a great beer. Don't forget to tip and buy the cooks a beer for their hard work!! read more

I wrote a pretty unhappy review here 6 months ago, but 417 has made some amazing improvements! First of all they have added a very fun and appetizing menu(I tried the twisted reuben). They have lots of games and an overall welcoming athmosphere. I didn't catch the bartenders name, but she was professional, timely, and friendly. I will definately be attending again! read more

We were all sitting at a table, having a great time. There was not a "reserved " sign on the table when we sat down. We were subsequently very rudely told by an employee that the table was reserved, and that we would have to leave. When we explained that there was no sign when we sat down and that therefore we should not have to leave, she angrily said "I apologize"! Very poor treatment of customers. read more

This place is our go to for weekend fun games with friends. Great beer selection, tons of fun games, darts, skee ball, suffle board, jenga, foosball and corn hole when it's nice outside. Staff is always friendly. No sports TVs here, just fun and games. read more

The place to go in Springfield. Neighborhood bar feel, great food, friendly staff, massive beer selection.

This bar has an identity crisis. You walk in and don't know if you're in a bar, or a nerds basement. They do have a couple concepts that are cool, like the pour your own craft beer setup. read more

Loved the atmosphere! They have video games and beer: what more could you want!only thing is, you give them your card and ID, they give you a card to swipe with, and you pay for however many ounces of beer you had. Actually nice if you're DD and only want half a beer. :) read more

Good list and variety of taps. They also have the self service taps which was a first for me. Probably a good thing they do or I never would have gotten a beer. Wasn't all that busy but the service, while polite, was slow. read more

The drinks are good, the food was all right--although my friends chicken was undercooked and made her sick--but the service (or lack thereof) was not acceptable. I'm not the type that is easily dissatisfied with service. Apparently, it is a very "self-serve" kind of thing, which is fine, but there was no sign that told us to order drinks and food at the bar. We sat at our table for almost 20 minutes and they saw us, but never came to clear off the plates and napkins of the previous customer; my friend had to do it on her own. Finally, I went up and asked if they have servers, and she was pretty short and not very personable. We had a large party and we asked if there were any more chairs that we could pull over and she said no and passive aggressively told us "I could have had enough chairs for you if you had made a reservation..." it's a sad thing when customer service ruins a good environment and what could have been a good night with friends. *Bonus: they do actually bring the food to you once you have ordered.* read more

This review is reflecting how the bar closes and a bartender named Natalie. We all know that you serve yourself at Taphouse. The only interaction you have with the bar staff; is getting a card. Went to the tap and served ourselves, sat down and had the beer ripped out of hands as bringing the glass up to our lips. Didn't know they were at last call...... a nice interaction with the staff would have been nice. Since you are in business to serve the customer an interaction as, "Excuse me but we need to close and can you take one more drink". They should turn the taps off so you can not serve yourself after a certain time. Don't blame the customer for serving themselves when the taps are still open. Tried to talk to manager and as we were discussing situation the bartender, Natalie , was flipping us off behind the managers back. BRAVO on your professionalism. read more

Really neat place with a lot to do have fun while drinking a variety of beer choices and eating great food! Waffle burger is real good.

Neat place, great space, cool concept. This place has a great beer selection, including self-pour taps, and lots and lots of games to play. Wonderful place for a kid-free night out with friends. read more

expensive even if you hit happy hour, and maybe I suck at pouring beers but I never let them overflow and ended up with half full beer's by the time the head (foam) went down and still payed $38 for 5 beers (you pay for the ounce and that includes head which is in no shortage). Should have let bartender pour, but that kinda defeats the point. On top of that you have to pay for all the games they have to play. Won't be going back and I hope the next business there has an original idea that works. They did have good art on their walls, and for sale. But that's not why I visit bars. read more
