Our experience at 401 Prime was beyond amazing! The ambiance was elegant & relaxing. Katelyn was so personable and made great recommendations on the specials and steaks. The wagyu (grade 11) was melt in your mouth amazing & the flavor profile was great. We also had the sirloin with a crab cake special that was so delicious, definitely recommend! Katelyn did an amazing job checking in with us, her service was excellent, anytime we got up to step away she would fold up the napkin and have it placed nicely ready for us when we got back, I've never had that done for me before! Just an amazing experience all around! read more

Stopped in for drinks and apps at their beautiful cozy bar. Servers and bartenders seemed overwhelmed. Drinks were good but lounge food was sub par. Half our order was delivered to another table by mistake so we waited over an hour for any food. Plus, beef tips were grisly which seemed off for an upscale steakhouse. Hoping dining room service and food will be better! read more

Off the charts great! From the service & food to decor, this place is amazing. Their aged beef is excellent. Very friendly staff. The price tag equals the top quality of your dining experience. Loved it!. read more

Was in downtown Lancaster for business and, once again, Yelp directed us to a fabulous restaurant. 401 Prime was truly exceptional - great atmosphere, professional & friendly service, and outstanding food. We sat at the bar, which has a fantastic bourbon selection, and enjoyed a few items from the happy hour menu. The bartenders worked as a team and were super attentive. They provided us with some terrific recommendations and clearly love the food they serve. Our entrees were, in one word, special. Hope we have a reason to go back to the area because i definitely want to go back to 401 Prime. read more

Dropped in for drinks. I had the traditional Manhattan with bulleit rye and the party had an old fashioned, a Negroni, and a something-or-other with gin. Excellent. Atmosphere with the right amount of swank, premium glassware and well crafted drinks. I'll stop in again for happies as 50% off makes it quite reasonable! Southern out-of-towners were impressed. read more

Came here tonight for the first time and was blown away. Between the ambiance, the service, and menu we loved every detail. The restaurant is perfect for a date night spot. We both got cocktails (martini and old fashioned) which were some of the best we ever had. Our server Joseph went above and beyond to explain the menu to us in full detail and was extremely personable. I ended up ordering the Chilean sea bass while my boyfriend got the cowboy steak. Every bite was phenomenal. We truly can't wait to come back. read more

If you are looking to drop some $$$$ for a special night out, this place has it all. Great ambiance, excellent service, and delicious food. Our group ordered a number of items on the menu. To start, the cocktails are phenomenal. The Prime Martini is the best martini I've ever had. There was an additional herbal flavor that took away any tinge of alcohol present. The salad was super fresh with an excellent balsamic. Scallops were cooked perfectly. Lobster tail was decent, fillet mignon was cooked well, but I personally didn't think it was exceptional. But the meatloaf... oh the meatloaf. Soooo good! We also really enjoyed the sides. Both the vegetable risotto and crab Mac and cheese were yummy. When it came time for dessert, the highlights were the almond pistachio chocolate thing, the cookie, and the bread pudding. We spent a lot, but really enjoyed the experience. read more

So we ended up here because the Belvedere was packed and had a party upstairs. You can't compare the 2 but we decided to go "upscale" for the evening. We sat at the bar, that's just us, if it's the 2 of us. Our bartender was absolutely amazing, giving us great suggestions for dinner. We took her up on the Ribeye Cap, OMG, absolutely amazing, melted in your mouth. Great atmosphere! Drinks were amazing! 5 read more

I don't think there is a restaurant in Lancaster with better quality of food preparation, ambiance or service.

Simply this restaurant is just pretending to be nice. Service was terrible to begin with. Took 30 minutes to put in a drink order. Popover and butter were really disgusting. Ordered lamb chops and wagyu flat iron medium rare and it was far from it for both. Lamb was medium and the Wagyu flat iron was so raw you couldn't cut it and didn't taste good. If you want a nice steakhouse go somewhere else. Please. read more

I rarely trash a restaurant in a review but this was just all around bad. I have been in great steak houses in big cities and realize that this is Lancaster, PA and not NYC, but still..... And by the way, the cost is about $100/person and we had just iced tea - no alcohol, no appetizers, no salads no dessert. First the food was poorly prepared and flavorless- I had the dry aged steak which was just bad - over cooked, tough and chewy. I added sauteed mushrooms (which cost $10 to add) - they were undercooked and completely flavorless. My daughter had 6 oz fillet which was "ok" - it was prepared well but nothing on it - just bland. I have cooked better steaks at home (and I'm not a good cook:). They started us off with a "pop-over" - which tasted like flavorless yeasty dough and some type of spiced butter - that had some odd combinations of flavor My daughter got a loaded baked potato which was under cooked and again just bland. I ordered the vegetable risotto - and my server never brought it - really!!!!! $100/per person and he can't even remember my order!!!! Unfortunately a few days before we had planned to go with my daughter my wife had to have extensive dental work and we explained this to the waiter to see if we could get something for her - he seemed irritated - we agreed on baked potato and the broccoli/cauliflower - having explained to the waiter that she needed soft textured food. The baked potato (like my daughter's) was undercooked and hard inside. The vegetable were aggressively roasted to the point of being charred and hard. Completely inedible for her. (Ironically on our trip to Lancaster, we ate twice at the Park City Diner, and after explaining my wife's need for soft food to the waitresses - they both bend over backwards to try to bring her foods she could eat - but 401 chef's could not be troubled to accommodate their guests.) I don't remember our servers name - but he had longer hair and large frame glasses - and really could have cared less. Lancaster, this is just a big rip off - bad service, bad food, bad attitude and way over priced. read more

WOW! What an AMAZING addition to Lancaster. My husband heard about this place so we decided to give it a try. It's only been open for a couple of weeks, but you would think they've been open for years with how efficient and consistent everything was from the food to the service to the drinks. It's absolutely stunning inside. We found street parking. There's two entrances; the lounge and the main restaurant. We were quickly greeted by who I assume was the manager. We were sat right at our reservation time at a table towards the back (it was nice to walk through and see the place as we'd never been here before). Our server was Tabitha E who was hands down one of the best servers I've had in awhile. She was friendly, smiley and knowledgeable of the drinks and menu when asked. She was great at giving suggestions and quick to fulfill needs before asked. The gentlemen filling waters and clearing plates were kind and efficient. The drinks were PHENOMENAL!! We both started with the Prime Martini, which was good and yet different. The blue cheese encrusted berries were different but delicious. My husband enjoyed his old fashioned and I loved the apricot margarita. The glassware is so eclectic and really sets them apart from other dining establishments. The bar manager was kind enough to come over and discuss the different bourbons they had to offer. The food was flavorful and the portions were very generous. The king crab cocktail was delicious and nothing like we had ever tasted. The oysters were of relatively good size and the cocktail sauce was the best I've had! I got the crab cake and WOW! It was massive and mostly crab, which is a total win. My husband loved his steak and said whatever it was marinaded in or seasoned it was so good. We split the risotto and it was cooked perfectly. It was a good sharing size. We finished with the vanilla bean poached pear, espresso and an espresso martini. Everything was fabulous! The manager stopped over, which I always find to be a nice touch. To be quite honest, they could really compete with Davio's or Eddie V's. Everything was excellent and I highly recommend. I know we will be back soon! read more

Very disappointed last night dinner (7/17/24). Forgot to put mango on summer salad, 2 out of 6 steaks needed to be sent back to be recooked, potato gratin was taste less and potatoes under cooked. Happy Restaurant Week in Lancaster. The good experience began the week prior to this dinner while I was at 401 Prime and decided to make a reservation for the Restaurant Week which was to begin the following week. I was initially told there were no reservations available.... but then the manager worked her wizardry and came up with a table for four for us! Had a lovely dinner with a great and attentive server. He recommended the chef special which is included on the restaurant week menu. It was scallops, which came served over potatoes and sided with asparagus. These really were some very special scallops. Briny, sweet , tender, not one iota overcooked, which can be such a problem with scallops. I was the only one who chose the scallops, and there was a lot of envy around the table when they were served to me :-) I started with the Neuske Bacon signature appetizer. As always it did not disappoint! Of course, each diner at the table was presented with a warm pop over and seasoned butter. The six sounds fillet was perfectly prepared as usual, in the photos, I realize that it appears very small, but it actually was a reasonable portion . Desserts included, crème brûlée, the warm chocolate chip cookie skillet with ice cream and a special bread pudding, which included chocolate chips and a sauce. During Restaurant week, the entrées are plated with two sides. The service was efficient and never condescending given everybody ordered off of the Restaurant week menu. I've included a picture of the teacup. All of the furnishings are top-notch. They are all leftovers of Amorette and I so appreciate they are being put to good use. read more

Thank goodness I don't eat steak often because I'd go broke, and it would be worth every penny. The wagyu filet...I don't even have words to describe how well prepared (aristocrat style for you Goodfellas fans aka medium rare) and delicious it was. The ambiance has finesse, the spirits are beyond, the sides a perfect compliment to the main dish. This is the kind of place where you pay top dollar to feast like a king. read more

4/13 Graduation Dinner The menu was specialized for my Graduation. Which was memorable and something I've never experienced until I went to 401 Prime. The Triple Cut Miso Bacon was phenomenal and the best kind of bacon I had tasted. Hats off to the chef to prepared that for my family and I. We had Kay as a server who was VERY knowledgeable about the menu and how the food is cooked. She had a keen sense of understanding and a place I would recommend to others as well. But if they're going to go; the need Kay as a server! Very impressed for our first time. read more

I was super excited to go, but I was not impressed. The soup was lukewarm and tasted watery. I was personally not a fan of the smoked trout mascarpone, but perhaps it was just me. The filet and crab cake were okay, but nothing outstanding. I've heard the crab cakes are amazing. Lot of crab with little filling, but not much flavor. The filet was cooked well, but could have used a touch more salt. I did enjoy the vegetable risotto. We also ordered the Mac and cheese and Brussels - nothing special. Service was great, but I wouldn't go again. read more

One of the best meals your can get in Lancaster. Pricey, but worth it. Check out the lounge for an upscale cocktail experience.

I wish I could remember our waiters name to give him a shoutout but of course I can't. But he was great! So attentive and answered all of our questioned. I came here with two coworkers while on a business trip and I was simply blown away. The ambiance is amazing. Nice, dimly lit but enough light if that makes any sense, sleek, and kinda sexy too. The wall of wine bottles was amazing and that was the nicest bathroom I've ever been in. The food. My goodness the food. We're torn here though. The filet mignon, although not my favorite cut of steak, was absolutely PERFECT. If every filet tasted that good, I'd always order them. The crab cake was the best crab cake I ever had. Honestly. It was amazing. We got the shrimp cocktail and for the price, there were only 4 shrimp. So that was a bit of a bummer. The shrimp bisque was almost inedible to me but it looked really cool. And the popover was exciting to see being brought to the table but that's when the excitement stopped- there was no flavor at all. It was actually hard to finish. But the cookie dessert at the end made up for it. For being a new restaurant, it's amazing. But there's definitely some improvements that need to be made. With that said though, I'd love to come back if ever in the area. read more

Food was excellent, service was impeccable, and the ambiance was perfect. I would recommend!

Went there for the second time on Friday. Our waiter suggested an app that wasn't on the menu. It was wagu beef, scallops and crab cake. Our waiters name was Joseph for the record and when we got the bill the appetizers came in at a little over $200 on it own. All of the items were separate from each other and he obviously did this to run the bill up without telling us it would be over $200. Also the scallops were replaced with normal shrimp so it wasn't even presented the way that was describer. Also there is no dress code so be prepared to spend $500 for dinner while sitting next to people dressed like they are in a Waffle House. I am never going again. read more

A nicely decorated restaurant with a very nice selection of aged beef. The only item of note is that the aged beef, which I've tried three times now, has a flavor much different than other aged beef dishes I've had, and it's hard to describe except that I wouldn't classify it as a "flavorful beef" taste, it was closer to Ostrich, meaning very lean with little marbling. Regardless, judge for yourself. read more

This is a perfect restaurant for a special celebration. The food was excellent, service was attentive and the restaurant is understated and sophisticated. We were a little early so we got a drink for happy hour in the cool lounge (which could be a destination in itself). My husband and I shared a steak (because I love the sides as much as the main). We had black truffle mash (potatoes) and the shredded Brussels - both delicious). We were celebrating a birthday and they brought dessert with a festive sparkler. Oh, and the mango margarita was delicious. Be prepared, everything is pricey. read more

We booked a private room for my birthday. They allowed us to reschedule because of a family emergency, which was amazing. The person we booked with was very nice and the server that night was amazing. The food was good but not sure I would go back because of the price. The atmosphere is fun. The only thing I would complain about is the decorations. She offered to have the room decorated for us. I sent pictures of what I wanted, color scheme and centerpieces. She had a budget of $150 and I asked for 3 single hydrangea centerpieces and pink balloons floating around the room - maybe a dozen. I got 3 single hydrangeas and 2 bunches of anchored balloons (3 to 4 balloons each) of black and gold balloons and she charged us the full amount. $150 for 3 flowers and maybe 8 balloons??? Once the bill came, they also put the room fee (which was $100 more than we were quoted) and the decoration fee with all the food and tried to get us to pay gratuity on it. The server was great and fixed it right away but I just didn't like that it wasn't separate from the start. read more

We came here for a birthday celebration and all I have to say is wow. As soon as we came in we were greeted by the hostess who promptly showed us to our table. Seating here is super comfortable. Spaced out so that you have a private experience and can't hear others' conversations. When we opened our menus all had a special birthday message printed on each page, which I thought was a great touch!! Our waitress was very knowledgeable, and as it was our first time, went through the wine/food menu pointing out some of the fan favorites. The dinning experience was perfect. Each course was spaced appropriately so that you weren't overwhelmed with dishes. We all had steak, which was cooked to our liking. The sides are all family style and meant to share. BUT my personal fave was the crab cake. Absolutely no filler - all lump crab meat!! Do not skip a mixed drink here because they are divine. We will be back soon!!! read more

Just had dinner there for the first time. The atmosphere reflects fine dining and our server Andrew was top notch. He is truly a professional! I was a little disappointed with a few menu items given the food prices. I really enjoyed the lobster bisque and the popovers. My cocktail was also very good. The name escapes me but it was made with tequila. My salmon was very good but did not care for the orzo mixture. My husband did not care for the meatloaf. The lobster tail looked delicious. It was expensive. Not going to lie. For a date night we spent $400. But the food was amazing. We got raw oysters, the aged rib eye, crab cake and Chilean sea bass. Also the bread pudding and a few cocktails. The service was good. Just a tad slow. But she was busy. I was surprised by the wagyu prices at nearly $50/ounce. Minimum of 4 oz. But we never had wagyu so I wasn't sure really what to expect. But $200 steak. I was surprised. So we did not order it. Maybe next time. This isn't something we can afford to splurge on every date night, but it's nice for an occasion here and there. The Inside was done beautifully. It's definitely one of the nicest restaurants Lancaster has to offer. read more

I ll start with the positives: the server was very friendly and appetizers were interesting and tasty. The dessert was sharable. However the steak, a cowboy ribeye. left much to be desired. Visiting from Texas if this was serviced to any cowboy they'd laugh at you. Honestly a better cut is to be had at the Texas Roadhouse, albeit without the positives I started with. It is almost criminal to pass off that cut for $89. 18 Ounces? Id check the scale, its more than a bit off. I prefer my steak medium rare, but ordered medium to guard against too raw cooking. Good think I did here because it was still less than medium rare in, dare I say, the thicker parts. Ranked as one of Lancaster's best steak house, all i have to say is that locals need to get get out of town then . read more
