The food is always at the appropriate temperature. Either chilled just right or hot enough that you have to let it sit to cool off enough to eat. The serving portion is more than you usually get from a restaurant. I have never had a problem with the service, even at the busiest time. This is a local gem. read more

So we visited Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, PA earlier in the day on Sunday. The food inside the theme park was terrible, so we needed some great food to make up for that part of Dutch Wonderland When we got there it was already dark out and was actually colder inside the restaurant than outside so we decided to sit outside which was fine because they have a beautiful outdoor seating area that overlooks the Conestoga River. Our waitress was so nice and took her time explaining some items on the menu and how they could accommodate one of our daughter's allergies. The food began coming out and the cheese sticks came first with the perfect crunchy outside and gooey cheesy inside that made for the perfect cheese pull. I haven't begun filming myself yet so those small details being captures on film for the public to see will have to be saved for a later date. Our 4 year old said her personal pizza was excellent and she ended up eating it all so that speaks volumes. Our 9 year old got a burger patty, steamed broccoli, and orange slices and proclaimed, "This is the best burger I've ever had!" Success! My wife ordered a pizza and didn't realize she had ordered a whole pie, but it was a mix of veggies and pepperoni and she loved it! Said it was very tasty. I got a personal flatbread pizza that was originally supposed to have pepperoni, sausage, ham, and bacon. I personally am not a big fan of ham or bacon on pizza so I asked for extra sausage and pepperoni and they absolutely delivered! One of the best pizzas I've had! Location ok, parking almost impossible. Once we made it in, we were seated promptly. The waitress brought the drinks and returned about 5-10 minutes later to take our order, she seemed to have more tables then the other servers. I'm from north jersey and we come to Lancaster once a year. We came here on a limb because we couldn't find something that wasn't a chain that was open for lunch besides pubs. When we walked inside and it was completely empty so we were a little skeptical but decided to try it anyways and we are extremely glad we did. This was such a delicious meal. I went on a weekday at noon (when they open) and there was line! I guess that's to be expected, during a pandemic, with limited outside seating areas. I was thankful that they had umbrellas because it was a warmer day. The menu that day was very slim (within the last month). The menu I see posted now has much more variety. When we arrived at prime dinner hour (6:00 pm) on a Saturday evening and very few people were dining, it should have been my first clue. We were seated and our server took our drink order quickly and served our drinks and then promptly disappeared. We watched as two other servers took care of other tables but we had to ask twice where our server was. We were told that she was in the back having an issue with the system. Yet no other server seemed to be having issues AND on top of it, didn't offer to take our orders in the other woman's place either. This place feels like two different restaurants. Outside, on the deck, by the water, it feels fresh and clean. The food seems to taste better out here (most likely I just get lucky when I sit outside), though the service is sometimes slow. Inside, in the bar area, it feels dark and claustrophobic. Everything feels closer than it needs to be, and the seating at the bar itself is kind of cramped. The surfaces usually feel sticky and it's hard to see what you're eating. The food can swing equally from one extreme to the other -- I've had fantastic meals here in the past, that were cooked to order and looked every bit as appetizing as I imagined. Then I've had really disappointing meals, served on dirty plates, that definitely felt microwaved more than cooked. Last year, I had lunch outside with coworkers -- a sort of farewell lunch. I enjoyed my American hamburger and very generous serving of house-made chips, and my coworkers enjoyed their meals (I can't remember them all, but I know one person really loved the wings and another liked the cheese steak sandwich) . Our waitress was pleasant, though she forgot about our table and we had to go inside to request water refills. On my most recent visit, however, I sat at the bar to enjoy a quick drink and appetizers with coworkers after a particularly rough week. The place smelled... funky. Like someone tried to cover up their dirty gym socks with lemon disinfectant or something. The bar was practically empty since it was still early, but the counter was really sticky. I've enjoyed their french onion soup before, so that's what I ordered. What I go looked like white putty stretched across a bowl of dirty dish water. I only had a few bites and decided I didn't want to spend my weekend in bed with a stomach ache, or worse. Our bartender was very friendly, but was multitasking -- using spray cleaner and a rag to wipe down bar surfaces and trying to serve patrons. I don't like when establishments refill your glass by taking it away from you -- she did this to both me and my other coworker when refilling our waters. She put her cleaning rag down, grabbed our glasses around the rim, refilled them, and returned it to where we were sitting. We didn't touch our refills. Looking through the photos of delicious food here on Yelp, I notice the date stamps and wonder if my recent dissatisfaction is because of a change in ownership. I just don't get a sense that cleanliness or food quality is a high priority here, and that really bothers me. read more

The waitress brought our drinks and didn't once come back and ask if we needed refills or anything else. When the waitress was asked questions about the menu she didn't know the answers, she had to go ask. She was asked, can I get angle hair instead of spaghetti and what is the steak of the week. When she found out what the steak of the week was she couldn't pronounce mignon. After waiting about 40 minutes we asked the bus boy if he could check on our appetizers. I must say, the crab dip was excellent, the cheese with the pretzel twist was tasteless but the pretzel itself was really good. I ordered shrimp scampi that was described as being placed over spaghetti but came out with some nasty spiral noodles. When we brought it to the managers attention he told us "I don't think we have spaghetti on our menu". We actually had to have him get the menu to see that he in fact does have spaghetti on the menu. Never once during our meal did anyone come back to our table and ask us how anything was or if we needed anything. Three out of the four meals that were ordered were bland. During our conversation with the manager another customer came up and told him they had drank 3 beers and no one had taken their order. This place was far from busy. My mom came here when she was a little girl with her father, and she remembered the bartender slicing up a large pickle for her, with slices so thin they were practically see-through. Well, they no longer have the pickles (we asked), but the food was simply amazing. At one point, we were the only patrons in the restaurant (the bar was much busier). Our waitress was very friendly. We ordered mozzarella sticks (they're the exact same kind that Arby's serves), and I got a caesar salad and club sandwich. It was the best caesar salad I've ever eaten, hands down. My family and I were on our way to a band competition at Conestoga High and decided to stop in for a bite before the show. The outside seating was an absolutely beautiful atmosphere, located right beside the creek. Our waitress, Savannah, was wonderful and the food was delicious. We highly recommend the crab dip appetizer and the figgie piggie sandwich. We even had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with the owner of the establishment. An overall great experience.
