They carry a variety of protein sources that aren't most people's idea of what cats eat ("cat's don't eat pork!", yeah, they do, how is that weirder than feeding house cats beef?), and since most commercial cat kibble is mostly chicken, even if the label says beef or fish, I appreciate the various options available here. They order my cat's preferred brand/protein for me, and have made good suggestions as to other brands. When you're a pet parent, this location is such a heaven and paradise! I'm overjoyed to see such a wide range of cat diets, toys, litter pellets, and accessories for my cats on the market nowadays. They also provide excellent customer service because the employees are accommodating, pleasant, and polite. I was particularly impressed by how they treated their customers, which made me feel quite at home. I came here last week to get new cat food because I think my baby is no longer interested in the cat food I purchased for them the previous time. So, I'm in desperate need of a replacement. I've only been shopping here twice but 4 Legs is already my new favorite pet store! I have two kittens that love fuzzy toys and 4 Legs has such a great high-quality selection compared to Amazon or other standard pet store toys. My kittens love the toys from here so much more, and they hold up after weeks of play! I also bought one of the huts they have and they love to sleep in it. The employees are super friendly too. I love that I can support a local business instead of buying my golden retriever, Bella, things from petsmart. The prices are a little on the expensive side when it comes to dog toys, but I figure if they are durable and well made they will last longer! Also I'm all about spending more if it is going to people and not corporations. The last time I allowed myself to venture in and buy something it was a dog toy. I got her a really nice polar bear stuffed squeaky animal and she loved it. The staff was nice enough, but didn't speak to me too much. Not a big deal for me though. The staff truly care about helping the customer and establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with you. I come in routinely to buy canned cat food for my cats, and the staff always remembers what kind of food I need and they immediately search the shelves for how much is available when I come in. I'm pretty sure they make their ordering decisions with their specific customers in mind, which is very helpful. Also, I came in once to buy some dry cat food and the person working was going out of her way to find my membership information for some sort of loyalty program for buying that kind of food frequently. For some reason it was taking a long time to find the information, and I must admit I was being VERY uncooperative and annoyed, just wanting to buy my food and hurry along. So basically, I was very rude to someone who was just trying to help me. I felt some regret about this at the time, but then forgot about the incident. Later that night I saw that I had a voicemail from a number I didn't recognize. It was the staff member of the store, calling to tell me that she found my information and made the necessary adjustments so that it would be easier to locate next time, consolidating two different profiles that I had so as to move me closer to getting a free bag of cat food as part of the rewards program. She apologized for the inconvenience earlier. Wow-- I was rude, and the worker, not even the store owner I don't think, called me to try to make things right?! Truly impressive. Because my cats are typical cats, I will not be bringing them in for a tour of the store anytime soon. 4 Legs is proof of the old adage, you get what you pay for. If this was a pizza place, the pizza would be advertised as "craft" and artisanal -- meaning, you pay more, but boy is that pizza good. PetSmart is Walmart, and 4 Legs is Whole Foods. Here's why -- 4 Legs carries a brand of litter that calls itself "the world's best litter." The last time I bought a bag of this was when I got the gray tabby beasts, one year ago. At that time, that litter cost $18.00 for one bag. I went to PetSmart and bought some inexpensive TidyCat to see if the cats would use it. They actually prefer the TidyCat. Why do I tell you this? Because 4 Legs does not carry TidyCat. You definitely won't fat Purina or any common brand here. The pet food you buy at 4 Legs may be organic, free of fillers, and very clean. I bought some organic salmon treats for my cats, and the cats loved loved loved them. It's like kitty crack. Although I don't have dogs, I use 4 Legs as a birthday gift place for dog owners. There are all sorts of bones, from Chihuahua size to English Mastiff size. Treats come in various flavors, various sizes, so I'm always able to find something appropriate. The owners love their dogs as much as I love my cats, so these high-quality gifts are always a success.. The people who work here are friendly and knowledgeable. If they are not too busy, they are very happy to chat and to share their animal expertise. This store is a wonderful addition to Damen Avenue and the Ravenswood neighborhood. My friend advised me to go in this shop, because she went here also when her cat didn't want to eat before. She said that they can give advice and help me too. So, I came here and the staffs ask me what happened to my pet and after that I told them the condition of my cat. And they gave me advice and also told me to buy the particular cat food, and also ask me to buy vitamins and medicine. They are so knowledgeable and have a lot of knowledge about cat. So, I am really thankful to them, cause they help me a lot and now, my fur baby eat his food, though just a little amount. Leslie and Dori own this store. It was previously on Clark near Cubs stadium. I have used them for food and dog/cat advice/resources for years. The products are high quality, fairly priced and if you don't like something and bring it back its not a problem. They offer delivery and really take the time to know their customers and their owners. They greet us, our dog and our kids by name! Even though we don't live in the neighborhood anymore we still make a 40 minute trip to support this local business. If you have a dog or cat, this is the best place in the city to go! read more
