I arrived at 5:10 PM for a single item--a balloon whisk. I said hello at the door, but instead of a…read morereply, a somewhat neurotic staffer barked at me: "We close in ten minutes." (The store's published closing time is 5:30 PM, not 5:20 PM.) I went to look at the whisks. Another staffer literally ran over to me and, from about three feet away, stared at me for a while, with a pained, impatient expression. After a while he said "What you want! We close in ten minutes." At this point I asked whether they really close at 5:21 PM. He said yes. I said the published closing time says 5:30 PM. He said "That's when we lock the store. Customers get out 15 minutes before then." I asked for a manager, but none was present. I asked the employee for his name: Benjamin. Apart from the hostile service, the inventory I saw was pretty terrible. The whisks looked more like dollar-store items than serious commercial utensils. Perhaps the rest of the store is better, but I'll never find out.

Sitting up close to the kitchen, we got to see them cook and plate their appetizers, entree and desserts dishes from scratch, incorporating the ingredients that were given to them. Throughout the cooking, we also interacted with the chefs, asking them about the dishes, and also getting some samples of the dishes before they were served. We arrived for Sunday dinner reservation right on time. It was small space with about 20 spots. BYOB place, no cork fee. Half of the seat were around the kitchen. There was a scoring sheet for each guest with names of both chefs, the ingredients of the day and the rules. The chefs got 45 minutes for preparing their appetizers, 35 minutes for entree and 20 minutes for desserts. It was impressive to see both chefs were precise with their timing. The dishes prepared by both chefs were so masterful, had intricacy of combining the ingredients and coming up with some sumptuous flavors. Salmon and steaks were cooked perfectly. It was extremely difficult to score the chefs on barest of margins and pick a winner. But per the rules I did pick Chef Ryan Beegel over Chef Alexis Sicklick. The host was also super nice and funny. She did a super job of explaining all aspects of the dinner, cleaning out plates after each round and serving all the drinks. Truly it was one of a kind TV Show like experience for us.

I bake quite a lot at home (my own bread, pizzas, focaccia, cakes, cookies, pastries etc) so this review is only from that perspective. This is a very well equipped kitchen store. It's targeted at commercial kitchens/restaurants but is open to the general public and there are many good items for the home kitchen. There's a great supply of Winco (everything), Cambro containers, and Fat Daddio aluminum baking tins. The only thing that I didn't see were Nordic Ware baking trays (but the Winco trays look nice and solid) and also didn't see any cast iron (which makes sense since for a commercial kitchen is way too heavy and unpractical). I walked the isles and saw so many things that I'd purchased over the last 12 months, but had made a trip down into the city to buy something or resort to ordering online when I could have shipped here instead! Love the range they had here and will definitely return for future baking and kitchen organization supplies.

They have some safe guards for covid like a plastic curtain to separate the staff from us, but otherwise precautions seem un existent. Things are very organized and the variety of utensils vary greatly, but the variety of each utensil is mediocre. Meaning you can find mostly anything you want but not in every size and color. We found a nice teapot, julienne peeler, cooling rack, and some ladles. Everything was fairly priced but they only had one peeler and it was on the pricier end when we compared to nearby stores.
