DONT DO IT. They called the same day of my move to cancel, with all sorts of excuses. They had already received over $400 deposit Via Western Union to secure the truck and transportation. Before they cancelled they asked for a credit card for "Security purposes", it was very shady. I had 1 day to move and it was planned 2 weeks in advance with them. Because of them, I had to pay to ride back and forth on a ferry twice to get a truck of my own and move everything myself. We started at 5 am so we would be ready for the movers and did not finish to get off the island until after 1:00 am due to them canceling. way too long and stressful of a day. You will not save a dime using these movers. As a small business owner myself, I thought I was helping out a fellow local business. This is not a business it is a SCAM. Jennifer and Tony do not have your best interests at heart nor are they part of any business community. I will change this post IF I get my deposit back, but I do not have high hopes of that, based on the unprofessional manner that this was handled. read more

As a small business owner, it hurts my heart to leave a 1 star review. This is the most shadiest company out there. I needed to move my daughter from Bellingham to Olympia. Tony said he need to get a more accurate price from Budget truck rental. Our quote was $732. This quote included truck rental, 2 hours of loading/unloading time and 6 hours of driving. When I heard that quote I was willing to spend the money. I thought it was weird that they didn't need a deposit, but $40 cash for gas money. Our move was scheduled for a Sunday. Friday morning before the move, I received a call from Jennifer. I needed to give them a credit card to secure a truck. I proceeded to give Jennifer my business debit card information over the phone. Jennifer calls back 15 minuets later to say my card came back declined. O.K my credit union is watching out for me. I proceeded to give her another credit card. Once again Jennifer calls back and informs me that credit card came back declined. Now I feel like a shady person and proceed to give them a 3rd credit card.. I know, I should of called B.S. But I needed to get my daughter moved home, and was under pressure to have her moved out before the new tenants moved in the following week. Feeling totally paranoid about my cards, I checked them. Mind you I authorized $250 for the Budget truck rental. (I did receive blurry pictures from Tony, the truck was only $185.92) My business account was hit 3 times to the tune of $900. My second credit card was hit for $250. My 3rd credit card was charged $800 (granted it came back declined) but a charge of $400 went through and then again for another $400 after I made a payment on it, thinking this was gonna be the credit card I had to use. I was able to stop all the extra charges. Had to cancel 3 credit cards because they have my information. After doing my research I learned that Tony and his wife Jennifer have no business license. They have recently changed business names from Universal moving and packing to 360 movers. I confronted Jennifer about all the over charges, she offered to send me a leather Calvin Klein bag. In return I wouldn't leave a Yelp review. Jennifer and Tony both said it was "Square's" (credit card processing server) fault for bad connection. I personally run my business on Square, and know Square will only take what you type in. Never has any of my clients ever had random chargers from me. If you choose to work with this company, I wish you better success than I had. read more

Tony and Randy were friendly and got the job done. The move was about double the price I was quoted, but I had a feeling it was a low quote from the beginning for how much moving I knew had to be done. I'm happy to say not a single item was broken. You do need to provide the moving vehicle/Uhaul, but they were helpful in maneuvering it in tight spaces. They also charge when they arrive at your house, no travel time cost which is great. The move happened over two days, and Tony was present on the second day - I thought this went much more smoothly and quickly as opposed to when he wasn't there on the first day. Randy helped delegate responsibilities to another mover on the first day and did a good job. This other mover didn't appear to be working very hard - while good at fitting everything in the truck in a jenga-like fashion, Randy and Tony were working much harder - so make sure to ask for the two of them! read more

There are definitely some pros and cons about this company. First the positives: Tony and his helper were friendly, experienced, the prices are good, and they charge from the time they arrive (meaning no charge to travel to the site). They were excellent at fitting all my furniture and goods into a storage unit that in retrospect could have been a little larger. In my initial call with Tony he helped me understand which type of truck was best and the reasons not to wrap my furniture in plastic for a longer term storage. He is also well-known and well-liked at my storage facility. The not so positive: I learned that they don't carry their own liability insurance. When I asked about this they said it was covered by the truck rental. What I later learned was the truck company offers insurance for a fee, but it only covers loss and breakage within the truck, not while it it's being loaded or unloaded. Tony and his helper showed up 20+ minutes late for the move. I did appreciate that Tony called me to let me know he's be 10 minutes late. During the move Tony took about half a dozen phone calls - some shorter but several longer. This always took away from his ability to help, but sometimes stopped the process entirely. When it came time to pay, I was given a price that was $10/hour more than I had been quoted. It was reduced when I mentioned the quote. I was also charged full hours even though between the late arrival and the stop time it wasn't quite a full hour, and there was no consideration for the phone calls that were taken. They were unable to take a credit card as they had told me they could when I scheduled my move with Tony. I was told they had lost the "square" for the credit card processing. Tony offered to go with me to the ATM to get the money. I decided to write a check instead. I asked if I should make it to Universal Moving and was told no - they didn't have a business account at this time. Definitely less than professional, which at least partially explains their reasonable fees read more

We relocated to Bellingham from Seattle, and, for a month, we had all our worldly belongings in Cordata Storage, which is also a great business. But this Yelp is about Tony and Universal Moving. First thing - Tony had another job on the day we needed him, and he was able to adjust his schedule to accommodate our move. We preferred to rent and drive the truck ourselves, but we needed affordable organization and manpower - and we got both with Universal Moving. (Thanks, Tony!) Second thing - we had a concern about the ability of a large U-Haul moving truck to navigate up the steep drive to our new home without bottoming out. Tony validated that concern and suggested we rent a different truck than the one we had reserved. We ended up going with a 15' truck from Fountain Rental (made two trips) with a rear wheel span that sat further back on the frame of the truck. This was on the recommendation of the fellow helping us at Fountain Rental (another great business, by the way). It all worked beautifully - and the concern was WAY legitimate, because later that day, not a half-mile down south State from our new home, was a U-Haul truck that had bottomed out and was stuck on a steep driveway just like ours. (Thanks, Tony!) Third, Tony brought along two assistants that he managed and directed. All three men stayed on task for the duration of the job - about six+ hours. We got lunch for the team about half-way through, figuring the guys would work better if they got a break and some food. After lunch they were back at it, and they finished right on schedule. (Thanks, Tony!) Tony is extremely professional, works very hard, and appears to be a great boss. He told us that while the Universal Moving fee is $25/man/hour, what he decides to payout to his employees is based in part on each man's experience and performance. This seems so smart and business savvy. We really enjoyed meeting and working with Tony, and we were more than happy and satisfied with Universal Moving. read more

If I could give them more stars I would! When Ironman Moving bailed out on us and left my 83 year old father in the lurch on moving day I started calling around for another mover. We needed someone that very day, and it was a holiday as well. I was lucky enough to have found Universal Moving. Although they had nobody available they tirelessly called everyone they knew until they found someone to come with Tony to do our move. They were delightful, professional and helped us so much on a very stressful day. They worked so hard and came to the rescue for the move. I have mixed feelings writing this review for Tony and his company. I hired Universal Moving and Packing last year and was impressed with Tony's guys however there had been one minor mishap that lead me to explore other options this year. I am a single mom on a fixed budget but have quality furniture that I have taken good care to maintain and wanted a mover that knew how to ensure that there would be no damages during the move. As a result I received a similar estimate to Tony's from a more well known company and had initially decided to go with them. When I informed Tony of my final decision he convinced me to go with his company indicating he would personally be involved with the move and would take care of the truck. I had maintained and drove the 24 foot truck the previous year which I found intimidating plus I felt with Tony personally overseeing the move my belongings were going to be well cared for. Tony was friendly and definitely a hard worker however similar to another review he spent considerable time on the phone, arrived late and time spent for the move (eg. cost) was double what he initially quoted. I think part of the problem was he had a young fellow with him whom I feel was definitely not the calibre of an experienced mover. Tony indicated he had worked for him for 6 years which both my daughter and I felt incredibly surprising. This guy actually looked physically unwell and unlike Tony struggled with the demands of the job the majority of the day. To be fair my furniture is heavy and our old driveway was steep which even though Tony was aware of this prior to the move I can appreciate that it was not an easy move. At one point I caught the young man pivoting my cabinet on the cement of the garage which damaged the corner and he also later took responsibility for ripping my leather lounge. The soft leather had caught on the door jam as they were attempting to squeeze it through the doorway of my new home. For all of the damages Tony did provide a 10% discount on the entire move but returned the truck dirty which cost me an additional $72 which he has not offered to reimburse. I have mixed feelings because my instinct was to go with a more experienced company and spend a little more however I had had a good experience with Tony's guys the year before and I wanted to support a smaller business that appears to be wanting to grow. My hope is that he considers my feedback and makes some changes to prevent future consumers experiencing the same consequences that we have had to endure. read more
