We recently moved across the country, from coast to coast, and hired Swan's for the packing on the west coast. The team that Dan sent was outstanding. Very efficient and friendly, and our goods arrived on the other coast unscathed. Everything, including some odd-shaped carvings and a big elliptical machine, arrived in perfect condition. We had a few questions about where to find items when we started unpacking...and found it all. Dan's advice to "keep unpacking, you'll find it" was very good. The driver they hired was also great - gave us good updates on the plan and arrived exactly when he said he would. We were fully unloaded in just a few hours. When our family moved to Bellingham from the South, we knew we would need up living nearby but we had not purchased a home so we would be storing a household of goods at their location. Our stuff which included everything from a piano to yard tools and furniture to antique armoires was stored at Swan's for about one year. I'm retired foreign service and have made many moves over a career. Most domestic moves have been bad to terrible until Swan's moved us to Arizona. It all started when I contacted Brandon at Swans. He came down to Coupeville from Bellingham twice to survey our household effects and give an estimate. Brandon was very straight forward and made certain there were no surprises. For example, the first time he came to the house he had already scouted the neighborhood and was concerned whether or not the semi could turn around on our street. He said he didn't want us to have any surprises and that if there needed to be a shuttle truck it would cost more. Fortunately he coordinated with the long haul driver who said it wouldn't be a problem. Brandon was great on follow up through the entire process. The first day two packers came out, AJ and Charlie. They were honest, thoughtful and totally professional. If they had a question about something they would ask rather than just throw it in a box. Twice they came to me with cash and valuable items and said "you don't want this packed do you". Most of the other movers I've had would have just stolen it. So nice to have true professionals who are honest care! Day 2 David the Allied long haul driver arrived with his crew. The cubic feet had been underestimated and he could see there was not going to be enough room on the truck as we were the last pickup. He immediately call Swan's who sent another packer out to pick up the overflow to be put on another truck at a later date. All went well with no glitch until after the truck left. The packer from Swan's stayed after the semi left to finish the packing and load up the overflow. My wife showed him 8 boxes we had packed in the utility room and David had told him about 3 ladders in the basement. As the afternoon wore on he suddenly left with no walk-through. The 8 boxes and ladders were left behind. Nice chap buy seems like he had something else to do that afternoon and rushed out. Brandon again came through and got those items picked up. When I called Brandon from Arizona and asked about the leftover boxes he followed through again and got me a delivery date. A long haul driver wearing a Swan's Allied Movers shirt arrived a few weeks later with the remaining items. All in all a great move with no breakage or theft. If you're moving from western Washington I would unequivocally recommend Swan's. Service at both ends was incredible. What could have been a really rough time turned out to be so much better than I expected! For starters, Brandon gave us a very complete estimate of charges and we left open the possibility of needing packers... After 8 days out of town for my dad's memorial service I got back exhausted and in no mood to pack! Jay and Jr showed up and totally crushed it! Almost 1500 sf of everything under the sun completely packed up inside of 5 hours! Then - perfectly on time Monday AM - Charley, Jr, and Gavin arrived and worked so hard and so efficiently that I was nearly packed into a box and loaded onto the truck myself! On the other end - they unloaded, put the boxes in the appropriate rooms where they belonged and so far, after 2.5 weeks, only ONE wine glass has been found broken! One odd thing - they packed a lot of small boxes into a big wardrobe and in it was ALL of my makeup-- we're talking $$$$$! I thought the boxes were lost or left on the truck, but one call and Charley remembered packing them into the big box, and there they were!! Happy customer! So happy with them that I am going to have them move my 84-year-old mom into her new home next month!! As I said, they made a very stressful time a whole lot letter. After another moving comp bailed on me leaving me high and dry, Swan stepped up and did an AMAZING job. The crew that came to pack did an amazing job. I'm embarrassed to say that I packed some valuable paintings myself, thinking that is protect them better... HA! I'd have been MUCH safer letting them pack the paintings. A couple trees clearly gave their all for my move but things made it here safely. They handled the nuances of the WA state ferry system well. I appreciated them laying down flooring protective mats. The floors and walls didn't get dinged at all. I hope to not need them for a LONG time but if I have to move again, Swan is getting the call! read more

We used Swan's for our move from Bellingham to Houston. Dan came out to our house for a free estimate. We were moving with a newborn and couldn't have done it without their help. The packers/loaders were professional and accommodating. They took care to make sure everything was packed well. We didn't have time to pack up some rooms and they took care of everything in less than 4 hours! I should of had them just pack the whole house. Everything arrived around the scheduled date without any damage to our property. There was effective communication with the delivery team. Everything came in under the projected estimate. I wanted to write a good review while the names are still fresh in my head. We just finished our move from Bellingham to Seattle and everything went very smoothly. I could not have asked for a better experience. I have moved a lot over the years (one being a cross-country move), so I'm no stranger to moving companies, and I can easily say that Swan's was great in every way! Dan Coco came by to give us an estimate. Very nice guy, and gave a legible, computer-typed estimate with a list of our items and his estimate on the weight and the price according to it. He told us that the estimate would probably be over what we would really pay and that he likes to overshoot instead of undershoot. He also threw in quite a bit of boxes for free! He delivered them himself. Super nice of him considering how expensive boxes can add up to be. Caeser (who I only spoke to on the phone and was a manager of some sort) called in to report when the move would happen, when to expect the men to come, and check in on anything I needed. It definitely calmed my nerves to have someone call to see how everything is coming along and reassure that he had help if I needed it. The movers (there were four of them) were also very great and respectful and hardworking. They really did a great job and took good care of all our items. We were promised 4 guys and 2 trucks and that's what we got! It turned out we didn't need the second truck, but I like that they were prepared and brought it anyways. Our items remained in the truck overnight and were delivered with three guys the next day early in the morning as promised. I wish I remembered the names of the movers because I would've loved to give them a shoutout, cause they definitely deserved it but only one name stands out, and that is AJ. All of them were great. Needed to pack up my mom's apt & put her things in storage. Called & Brandon gave me a good estimate and was available for the move with just a few days' notice. I was worried as so many movers show up late, etc. Travis & Leigh showed up 30 minutes early but called to give me a heads up. Because mom's few furniture items had tons of scratches, Leigh took longer than I expected to note the damage but he worked nonstop & still came in at price quoted. I was very stressed out after going thru all mom's stuff, donating, sorting some for our family & packing the rest. Leigh kept me laughing because he had a quick response to all my comments. He helped lessen my stress. So many people complain about jobs, bosses, coworkers to clients & customers these days and I'm sick of it. Not Leigh and Travis. They seemed to really enjoy their jobs. I later found more things to store so called and asked if I could drop off a box. I sort of expected a poor response but the woman who answered the phone was very pleasant. When I went in the next day she had updated paperwork and invoice ready for me. These people are all great to work with. read more

If you want to avoid all stress with your move (large or small), call Swan's (an agent of Allied). Relocation Agent Brandon Simpson did an amazing job of walking us through the process and offering tips for packing; their office manager Amy was available for all questions; their packers and delivery team were extraordinarily polite and careful. In retrospect, the most important thing to compare with other companies is the attention paid to packing items for transit. Ours was a long haul from Washington state to California. Everything, but everything, arrived undamaged. Their delivery was flawless, the personnel were extremely helpful and focused on making certain our belongings were re-assembled and placed in the proper locations. All in all, we now wish we'd had them pack up our whole home instead of doing it ourselves. A stressful time was made so easy that we actually enjoyed it. read more

Brandon, the relocation mgr, set things up very efficiently, did accurate quotes and explained things well (I am very experienced at moving so I know when things are being done well). Moving is a stressful experience but the crew at Swan made it as easy as possible for us. We've moved many times and this was the best one yet! We were treated very well beginning with Dan who provided us with boxes and moral support for our partial pack. The packers did the hard part and were fast, neat and very courteous. Eric and his crew loaded our 28,000 in record time with careful attention. The unload 2000 miles later went as smoothly. Eric even offered to shovel snow in prep for the unload and came by on his way out of town a couple days later and took the used boxes and packing paper out of our way. Our experience was completely different from that of Boyd M. For starters, Swan low-balled us on the weight, missing by about 30 percent. That meant our actual moving cost was about one-third higher than anticipated. Two other movers in the area were almost spot-on to the actual weight. We are now in the process of unpacking and unpleasant surprises await in many of the boxes. Much of the furniture was dinged in some small manner. Vases were broken. My wife's sewing table was destroyed. A brass pot lost its three legs. Little things -- a container of Nestle's hot chocolate was not wrapped properly and so we had powder over everything in that particular box. Our 12-foot ladder seems to have disappeared in the shipping. We still have about 400 boxes to go through so more anguish undoubtedly awaits. This was our sixth move in 26 years and by far the worst from every aspect. read more

Tried for days to get an estimate on a small local move. No one there ever answers the phone and they never called back.

We have used their service due to high ratings. I am really disappointed about their service. The price quote is average but after they have picked up the shipment for delivery, they were extremely difficult to get hold of. I left mulitple messages regarding how much longer we had to wait but no response. When they called, they can not or will not tell you where the shipment is. The estimated date of arrival is the end of the spread but I got a feeling that they were too overtly optimistic from the beginning. I am so disappointed about the whole affair. You don't get what you paid for, you get way less service and irritations as a bonus. read more

Amazing! We moved from Bellingham, WA to Nashville, TN and it was easy-peasy from start to finish. Dan came out for a free estimate and gave us as much as advice as he could to make our first cross-country move as stress-free as possible. He helped us understand how it works and how to be as cost-efficient as possible, and he did it all right there on the spot - no waiting until the next day for a quote. He overbid us deliberately so we wouldn't be surprised when we got the final bill, and told us that since it's all determined by weight, the less we shipped, the less it would cost. We had planned to get rid of quite a bit anyways so this was great news. Tim the driver and his team took great care to make sure all of our belongings were inventoried and safely stored, and set very clear expectations on next steps. He actually arrived on the first day of the anticipated delivery timeline, and had all of our stuff unloaded and set back up within just a few hours - and no damage to anything at all. In retrospect, I should've had them pack the whole house, it was so easy to hand this over to professionals and watch them do their thing. And, the best part is we came in about $1500 under what was bid to us (granted, we got rid of some things, but not a ton of stuff, so although we expected it to come out to be less than what was bid, we didn't expect it to be that much less.) I've never moved across the country and was very concerned about the entire process but the whole Swans Team made it completely painless. I have since recommended the Swans Team to anyone, whether moving across town or across the country, these guys are the best in the biz. read more
