In other words, the product they sold us didn't work. Despite not having a replacement FitBit in the store, they wouldn't refund the charge. Do not go into this store. These guys are exceptionally good at being crooks. They throw out the bate and if you haven't done your homework on price and just trust that you are in an honest business and not a third world country they pounce. First they play your friend to get your confidence. Then they start throwing numbers at you giving you this for free all the time chopping and changing the deal to confuse. When they finally have you on the hook and you agree to purchase they take your card and ask a second staff member to ring up the sale. Now they start to offer you something else just to take away your concentration and by the time you get to sign your card purchase the quoted price has grown without you knowing. So when you walk out feeling pretty stupid and ripped off you start to research your purchase and realise just how badly you have been duped. You go back seeking redress to basically be laughed at. They don't compare prices even though they are happy to use obviously false websites to show you when they are selling. They didn't provide an itemised cost and tax invoice even though they said it was in the box. So when you return and ask for the detailed invoice thinking you can nail them for the overcharge they make the purchased goods amount and tax equal the ripped off total they charges you. They are crooks of the highest order and we were fools and to trusting without doing our homework but shisters like this should be put them out of business. As visitors to America companies like this do your honest businesses no favours. We were sold a camera being told it was the new super duper model reduced from over $600 to $420 then add a memory card. We walked out paying what we thought was $740 Austrailian dollars only to discover that was really US $. The real cost of everything for a camera a lot less in quality than we thought was US $140. So when we returned for the tax invoice the camera cost had grown to just under $500 and a memory card was $190 all to make the tax amount correct on the total. I would not recommend this place to anyone ever, and I knew better than to go here but I was in a rush. The whole experience here was absolutely terrible. Terrible!!! I bought a battery charging case (130$). A screen protecter (60$) and a elf bar vape (40$). So I will start out by saying everything is at least double or triple the price than any other store or Amazon. When I first walked in I was getting tourist trap, scamming vibes. So I purchased everything and they make u sign a sketchy yellow paper and don't gv u a receipt. My fault for not forcing them to give one but that should be automatic especially from a place that sells laptops and things of that nature. Anyways to make a long story short every item I purchased was faulty. The battery charging pack which I found on Amazon for 40$ when I brought it home to put on the charger, it didn't work. The 5000 puff vape died out the next evening. (Yes I charged it) and the screen was not installed correctly so it fell of after a week. I went back a couple days after making the purchases to complain about the over priced case that didn't work and he gave me another one, supposely brand new but the boy was open I noticed. The only reason I took it was bc we tried it out in the store and it worked. Big mistake. It worked for about 4 days then stopped charging my phone. I went back a third time and told him I had another issue and instead of just giving me money back or store credit he tells me I was charging it wrong. I told him so then let's plug it up right now in the store and he's trying to tell me he's not allowed to do that and he wants me to go all the way back home and charge it for 3-4 hours minimum and then maybe it should work lol. Ofcourse I didn't go for that bc obviously I've already done that to make sure it was broken before I went back. So I force him to take the case and told him I would be back in an hour. Once I return ofcourse when we took it off the charger it was still not working like I said. So instead of resolving the problem he try's to give me a product that I don't even need and tells me to give him 60$ more bc the item was more expensive than the 130$ credit I have. Ofcourse I refused and settle for just a regular plastic case and 2 vapes. Basically had to cut my losses. Lesson learned . This place is horrendous. We went in looking for a camera bag originally. They started their spiel about lens and stuff since my friend possessed a really nice camera. He ended up showing us some different lens and filters and demonstrated them on her camera. After going over some specifications, she decided it would be a good addition for her camera. He quoted the price at $1800, but since it was her "first time in one of his shops", he said he would cut her a deal. He showed her a website with a photo of the lens and a price of $2499. They did some haggling and eventually she gave in and agreed to pay $1700 for the lens and two filters. They rang her up, showed her some more little tricks, and we were on our way. I started feeling fishy about the whole situation (because they were suuuuuper pushy, and they kind of seemed shady to me), so I looked up her lens maker and type on google and was able to find the website he pulled up. However, it was basically an empty page. It looked normal, but you couldn't click on anything to purchase it... It's like it was a site that was made to look like it was directly from the manufacturer, but it wasn't. I then tried to look up reviews and prices and found out the lens she just paid $1400 for was sold AT MOST for $500 on amazon....and the reviews weren't good anyway. That's when we looked at the receipt and saw (in big bold letters) "ALL SALES FINAL - NO REFUNDS". We felt pretty silly at this point. Moral of the story, DO NOT go to this store. Go to a legit place, or amazon. I couldn't step back into this store unless I was allowed to punch them in their stupid faces. Luckily, the lens and filters at least WORK, so it's not like we lost that much for nothing. She just epically overpaid. And they definitely took advantage of that. read more

Yesterday, I stopped in at 34th St. Camera and Computers. I got a little windfall and was looking for a low-end unlocked Android phone. They showed me a few models and I decided on one. Haggled a little and settled on a price. Wasn't entirely sure about it, but they said I could always come back and change it. Unfortunately, when I got home, the phone I actually got wasn't the one I'd decided on. Which isn't as dim-witted as it sounds, since they just showed me the phones, not the packaging, while I was shopping. But even worse, it was obviously a used model and didn't even have a power cable! Adding insult to injury, when I looked the phone up on Amazon, they had charged much more than the going price. I'd have sucked that up and kept it, chalking it up to my own stupidity, had there not been the other problems. Unfortunately, when I tried to return it, they pointed to the receipt, which says no refunds. How would I know that until I'd paid!? Even the name of this store is a lie. It's on Seventh Avenue, not 34th Street & closer to 35th than 34th! Fortunately, I paid for this purchase with American Express and trust them to ensure that I'm not out of pocket. So I really just want to spread the word about their business practices. I'm also reporting them to the NYC BBB and the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs. Agree with the other reviewers - avoid at all costs. I'm sure they do everything to stay just inside the law, but they are unethical con artists whose sole purpose is to scam tourists and unsuspecting customers. Goods in window are bait. Once inside you will be switched to a heavily overpriced item supported by pricing on fake websites. After you buy, the receipt states 'no refunds' and exchanges within 7 days but if you try to exchange you will get nowhere: 'This has to be authorised by the manager - he will be in tomorrow', 'I will check with the warehouse, call tomorrow'... After my third, unsuccessful, attempt to exchange a lens (priced at $2000 that they sold me for $999, but turned out to be worth less than $100) they admitted to marking up their prices and said I should have researched the true price beforehand. When I eventually agreed to take a lens worth $600 in exchange (i.e. lose $400 just to close the issue) another staff member said 'the boss' didn't agree and I would have to pay an additional $300. I have referred the transaction to Amex and filed a complaint with the NY State Consumer Protection division. read more
