Don't fall for this place!!! The sales guy was really nice to us and we totally fell for some items that seemed like good deals because they had an "inventory discount". But I then found the same items online for a fraction of the cost. read more

This is my first yelp review and I hope it prevents others from shopping here! This place has smooth talkers and sells items for what appears to be an amazing price. If its too good to be true, its because it is! My cousins and I were looking for ipod touches and the guy was selling them from $299 (retail $399). We were waiting to pay for them and waiting for the units to come in when the salesperson was trying to sell us other stuff we didn't need. Long story short, we were sticking to our guns with buying only what we needed and adter 45 minutes, they guy puts the ipods away and say that we don't deserve the ipods and that would rather sell them to a deserving customer who buys more items. More like customers who get suckered by them! I just looked up reviews on the store just now and saw countless negative reviews on how they got ripped off. I'm just glad my cousins and I didn't become victims! Be warned! read more

Please do not shop there. They told us to sell Iphones and Ipads for amazing price. Then they split the bill in 2 pieces and promise to pick up the apple stuff in the evening. In the evening the price rised up and so u have only bought some "additional" items but not the things because u entered the shop. The story is almost the same like Connis and i what i was told by some friends. So, please dont believe in the, i think own (shop) written comments, from dan and frankie above ;-) Be warned ! Its no place to shop for tourists which believe in the honor of the 5th avenue. Excuse my english, i'am only a cheated tourist from Germany. read more

I bought a replacement battery for my cell phone. To be specific, it's a D-X1 for Blackberry. I should have checked the regular price first! They charged me $79.99 saying it's the original price. Back at home, I searched on Internet and could find various prices for the particular battery but they were never above $11 for a brand-new! It was discouraging to find out, checking the reviews on Internet, that indeed this shop has been swindling tourists for so long. To think that such a scam business is thriving on 5th avenue (right across from New York Public Library for that matter!) How is that possible? I hope Trump will take note and shut it down asap. read more

On Off Digital World. I was there in May to buy i-phone, but they didn't have it. They convinced me to buy ICANYON 9800HD - mini projector for "just" 1,293.44 $, because it's worth 5,000$ - they showed me their fake advertisement on http://www.amazon.com/ICANYON-9800HD/dp/B004OYX97E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1315472748&sr=8-1. http://freeweb.t-2.net/kar_tako/a22.html I had bought it but soon found out, that they cheated me, because such projectors cost just around 250$. http://www.espow.com/wholesale-mini-pocket-cinema-50-inch-handheld-led-projector-640x480.html So, be carefull! STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE ...unless you want to get ripped! I came here to buy a photo camera and they sold me a camera for a higher price than they told me in the store. Unfortunately, I only noticed this when I already arrived home and checked my banking account online and saw that they charged my credit card much higher than agreed in the store. It was terrible! The worst thing is that my receipt says at the bottom (and in very small letters) "NO exhange, NO refunds", which I realized when I got home. You also find the critical reviews of other buyers from this store online: http://www.nyc.com/yellow_pages/on_off_digital_world.333280/editorial_review.aspx When I told them that I would like to exchange the camera and get my money back, they told me to come to the store at a time, when the store already closed. I am very shocked about the rude & cheating behaviour of this store and vendors. Especially the guy named "Teasy" (his name may be spelled wrong) was very suspicious. I am not from New York, but I have lived here for a while and I have never seen such a bad thing. I would like to warn everyone who wants to buy electronics around Grand Central/ fifth avenue, NOT to get trapped by this store. It will rip you off! I have never experienced such an organized and rude way of ripping people off at day light at a store. They are mafia-like people who seem to be friendly to the customer, but rip you off. Please tell all tourists or friends to stay away from this store!! read more

Tourist trap like everyone else said below, don't fall for their crappy products and inflated prices. They up charge their products at least 5x online prices. Oh and DON'T FORGET, no returns once you buy, only exchanges! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE! read more

They try to fool all the customers as much as possible. When I bought a pad, I asked them whether I can return or not, they said fine. However, in the second day, I tried to return, they said they can only accept change to other product but not refund. They like to fool the tourist, I hope they will close as soon as possible, don't fool the people!!!! read more

On Off Digital World - The most terrible store I have ever met - Electronics Near Me - New York, New York

DO NOT BUY HERE! These guys are total con men. If it hadn't been for my cousin Noah here in New York, they would have got away with selling me less than $200 worth of gear for $980 - a wide angle lens, a polarising filter and a lens cap! I was naive and sucked in because Jean Pierre, one of the several front men, assured me I didn't need to upgrade my Nikon D90 if I bought the wide angle, day night lens - marked at $1500 but available at half price. Sucker! I took the bait. But then I had second thoughts, felt I'd been cheated, and saw that on Amazon and eBay, the same product sold for $30-50! I talked to my cuz, Noah, a New Yorker, who called first Jean Pierre, then Bob, who reluctantly agreed to let us swap the lens I'd paid $900+ for - for a lens that was worth closer to the amount paid. These people are thieves - as all the other reviews also point out. The fucks aren't worth a paper star, but I'll give them one so this review appears and they can be put out of their thieving business. Yelp - give these guys the big A. Stay away, fellow visitors! read more

Recently, I attended Westminster Dog Show and realized I forgot my binoculars. Happened upon "On/Off", purchased a pair of Bushnell binoculars and was guaranteed the $264 (w/tax) was a fair market value! Since returning home and checking Bushnell app; they retail for $99. What a total rip-off!! read more

I walked in today looking for a Bluetooth speaker. My big mistake is that I should have just ordered on amazon. Instead I walked in and was scammed by the salespeople. I bought a Bluetooth speaker for double the price.... I didn't know until I looked online at the exact speaker... it was less than 1/2 the price that I paid..I know these guys are big BS artists ...anyone that considers walking in to this store should think again. You will be ripped off....... read more

Tourist trap for everyone stupid enough to visit them. Our Credit Card got charged 20% more than the fixed price (Not just taxes). So we didn't buy the product and they told us that credit card booking was cancelled. Now 4 days later our Money is gone from our account and after two visits in the shop they still tell us that they didn't charge anything ! Shame on them, unfriendly and unserious Ripp Off Shop ! read more

Please Read........ Don't ever buy from this place. They are really fakers. Smooth talkers. That's what happened to me: Couple months ago I bought a Camera. ( and My plan was to buy a camera with one extra Lens in addition to the Camera Kit ). Suddenly , The store start suggesting me another things. By the way They sold a Lens to me by 700$. Camera 1300$ ,Flash 8GB 80$. About the Lens 700$ . it was not in the original box and its real price was only 400$. About the flash Memory they said it's a new model and it has a lot of features... But anyway I bought it for 88$. But when I checked the same flash memory 8GB online ...it's price was 14$ only. They sold me the camera without the original Kit ( lens)+ the memory ...by 2,100$ ( Just the camera with 1 lens ) .... the price of it just should cost 1,600$ !!!!!so I lost 500$ ... but In real, the camera with the original Kit lens and with that lens that I bought ( Camera + original lens (which is 300$) + the lens that i bought ) should only cost me 1800$!!! look at this hell!!!!!!!!!!!!! The good thing was that I could save my self from buying more items... because they still talking and suggesting other things to me with their smooth and magic Speech. They also suggest a camera filter for me by 80$ but i didn't buy it. and when I checked the same filter online it was just for 3$. Another suggestion was that , they show me a protable projector (Data show ) and they showed me a link of amazon which shows the online price of that portable projector ( Data Show ). The price from the Link was ( 3,900$ ) , and they said " look at this price on amazon!!! and we just sell it for 900$ ..." When I checked that projector online too...it's original price was 250$ only. but I don't know where they got that faked link????? It could be something that they created it with the same amazon logo...!!!!!! after couple of months when I found out that they are really fakers and smooth speakers... I checked the price of all of these devices that I bought. and I saw not only a difference in price... but A very big difference in price ... I hope no one will go to that store and never buy anything there.., read more

I was just robbed that store ... sold me a product for $ $ 24.90 when I got the bill from my card was registered $ 2490.00, and I was careful not to give the note at the time of purchase. Brazileiro'm complaining when I called and told me they could not cancel because I who cheated ... A shameless thief, are mixed with Portuguese speaking in Spanish to deceive us. One day I go back there ... read more

This not a serious business. They try to "sell' things that you did not ask for. They charge tax but do not issue invoice, keeping the money. They try to deceive you all the time, offering stuff much more expensive than any other store. They do not accept refund, even within seconds of purchase. Do not buy anything there! read more

CAUTION: CREDIT CARD FRAUD. They charged one card, said it didn't go thru, and asked for a second card. I gave it to them, and both cards were charged. MORE PROBLEMS: I walked into their store in NYC, looking for an earbud for my cell phone. They offered me a set with an extraordinary high price of $79 - with a sticker on it that said "Original" or "OEM". They apologized for the high price when I said I normally pay $19 or less for earbuds, saying it was original equipment. It simply wasn't OEM - they put a fraudulent label on it. Plus my wife pointed out they priced electric shavers at $379 - usually $100 or less. They are preying on travelers. read more

Very hostile employees. I bought a kindle there, wanted to return it and they only give store credit. When I said I wish I knew that the guy with blueish eyes started getting very hostile and SCREAMING at me!!!!! Felt very intimidated and thought this guys gonna get physical!!!!! Holy sh_t!!!! I said please just give me my store credit so I can leave. He was still screaming at me, the other employee tried to calm him down, and finally at that point he wrote up the credit. As he was writing it up I told him I would have paid the extra $100, but since he went psycho on me, I just wanted to get OUTTA there!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also asked of they have another location bc I want to avoid going back to that store to use my credit, but the nicer employee said he didn't want to get involved. Wow, I guess there not winning any best places to work awards!! Does anyone know if they have another store in NYC?? I greatly appreciate the info!! My advice, STAY AWAY from this place. Employees are psychotic!!!! read more

DON'T BUY ANYTHING HERE!!! The worst experience I'have ever had. They sold me a "new" iphone 6, with 1 year guarantee worldwide for a cheaper price (around 100$ less than in Apple). The packaging was perfect and the sales man was so friendly. Too good to be true. A few weeks later, I went to Apple store because it was having battery problems. You can imagine my surprise when they told me the guarantee had expired. In fact, it was a refurbished iphone. It's incredible that in the 5th avenue of NYC they have such shameless robbers. read more

Stay away from this place. I needed to buy a battery for my camera. I was working at the New York Public Library across the street and had forgotten my battery charger. I went in here, and the salesman said the battery is $59. You can buy it elsewhere for $10. You can definitely buy good electronics at cheap prices in NY, but not here. It's run by con artists. When I read the negative reviews later I felt bad that so many foreign tourists get ripped off here. read more

I'm writign this review to warn you to never buy anything in this shop! 2 weeks ago I went there because I needed a battery charger for my casio camera from Germany.. This was the first shop where I could find a compatible battery charger. Later it turned out it wasn't compatible.. The battery wasn't really chared and after ther second use, the charger broke.. I wanted to return it and buy a compatible one, which wasn't possible. He said I won't get my money back and he didn't agree with the battery charger. He said the broken one is charging and tried to convince me, then I expained the instructions to him!!! He was willing to give me a new one. And I didn't want to brake my battery (which will be the result of a non compatible charger) of my expensive camera from germany. and because I wouldn't have got my money back, I decided to buy the cheapest digital camera in this shop, because the $60 I already paied for the charger were credited. BUT the ful price was $130!!! There are no real declared prices on the items, I mean there are prices, but like $ 300 for the oldest digital camera.. he said thats the normal price and he gives discounts. Who believes that??? I told him that I know $130 ist too much for this camera, but I bought it because I would have lost $60 for the charger. Now I hope that the camera will work well. He didn't like me because he knew that I knew that he was trying to make a fool of me. Now I regret that I didn't throw the battery charger away and bought a good camera for $ 100 in another shop. I checked it out in the internet later. The camera I bought for $130 would normally cost around max $80. I mean they have to charge more in small shops but this is way too much. And I'm also not sure if it is a fake.. now I'm totally suspicious about that shop. I can't prove it's fake, but that wouldn't surpise me. After I visited this shop twice, I can say that there is really nothing good about it. Plus, there are a lot of men in the shop and they try to flirt with the girls.. I really felt uncomfortable. read more
