Wow. They were so kind and helpful here. They fixed my iPhone screen and button immediately, for a very affordable price, faster than another store that was going to make me wait days - even on my phone model which is old and out of stock at most places. They were courteous and quick and the phone was ready in like 20 min. They even threw in a free screen protector which I did not even ask for- but I'm glad they did because despite having multiple screen protectors at home, I can never put it on without getting some air bubbles. Writing this after picking up my beautiful phone that looks BRAND NEW. I was walking around with a busted iphone, front and back, for too long. Not only was my back camera lens cracked, but my screen stopped responding to touch. I did a quick search for repairs in the area and so glad I found Jack's Place. I went and got a quote and within 24hrs my phone was ready. He told me ahead of time my back panel may be a different color, and I love the blue housing I have now! I don't have any issues with my phone anymore aesthetically, but there are some functionality aspects that have changed. I do notice it takes longer to charge and the cables rarely work for it now so I have to use a MagSafe charger. Also when my phone is locked I cannot touch to activate the screen, I have to touch the side buttons. I didn't expect to have new issues arise when getting it repaired, but its something I can live with. read more

Thanks to this place, I'm writing my review from my new iPhone 13 mini! I had an issue with Apple and Verizon - they wouldn't trade in my old iPhone XR because of a cracked screen so Jacks Place was able to give me some money towards a new phone ordered to the shop - and was easily able to trade it in here - close to my apartment without having to deal with with arrogant Apple workers. The owner was very thorough, helpful and knowledgeable - transferring all my old data from my old phone, onto my new phone in less than an hour. I couldn't recharge my battery , my phone was only working when the charger was plugged but at least I could use it to call , looking online ... I brought my phone on Thursday on week 1 to Jack's place for an examination , I was told the solution was to replace the battery and I will be notified on Monday or Tuesday of week 2 when my phone would be fixed ... Days were flying on and on Thursday on week 2 still no notification . I called the store and Jack was fixing my phone and told me to pick it up later . Later on at the store i learned that my phone wasn't ready because he has ordered the wrong battery , I had to wait to the beginning of week 3 . On week 3 I had to call again despite I should have had been contacted by jack... Coming to the store jack told me that my phone was fixed ,I paid the repair , going back to my place the battery was already empty and my phone couldn't recharge again , worse my phone wasn't functioning anymore when plugged . I went back to the store and left my phone because Jack was looking for a solution . Finally days later he told me that for a reason he didn't know the battery was prevented to be charged and how much money i was ready to put for further repair . conclusion : my phone is in worse situation than before I came to Jack's place . my phone is dead whether plugged or not . I decided that at 57, I'm too old to walk around with a cracked phone screen for the next couple of years, as I was known to do in my 40s. This place was recommended by a local T-Mobile employee who stated that they send all their customers to Jack's and now I understand why. The service was polite, prompt and professional. I dropped my phone off on my lunch break and picked it up a couple of hours later on my way home from work. I'm pleased to report that I'm writing this review on my phone that looks brand new. I went here on a recommendation to get my screen fixed. It was a very simple, swift and friendly service. The technician Arkadiy analyzed my phone and had it done within the hour with a brand-new screen, that was also higher quality than the last replacement I got from another shop. Unfortunately, clumsy me broke my screen AGAIN barely a week after (entirely my fault, it was not the quality of the screen) and the service was just as consistent. Quick and easy :-). I also asked for a durable phone case and was given a concrete recommendation based on my preference without trying to oversell me something, which can tend to happen at these smaller tech stores. A nice plus. Can highly recommend this place! They also pick up and deliver if you don't have time to make it out. Tip: If you need to kill an hour without your phone (I know.. a struggle nowadays) and you're hungry, I recommend Clinton Hall across the street. My cellphone ceased functioning recently..so I took it to T-Mobile for a diagnosis. The T-Mobile expert looked at my phone, saw what it was doing, and proclaimed "it's finished." But then he added that a nearby repair shop - Jack's Place- is sometimes able to bring non-functioning phones back to life. So I went to Jack's Place for another diagnosis. I left the phone with the proprietor and returned later in the day. By golly, he was able to reignite the machine...it is fully functional again. Four stars, rather than 5, because I was promised a phone call with a diagnosis and a billing estimate. I never got the call but he was able to fix the phone...and at a reasonable cost. read more

Came here one day a month back to get a screen protector on my iPhone 6. First of all, it cost me $10 for a subpar screen protector. It was this weird matte texture that almost immediately scratched when I left the store. Also it bothered me for a month after b/c you could clearly see that there was a screen protector on the screen. Second of all, the guy who put it on was 1) unfriendly (which was fine), but also 2) put the screen protector on CROOKED. The thing covered half of my front facing camera and it was sticking out on one of the corners!!! I had to go home and put on the thing myself. I'm writing a review now b/c I just purchased a pack of 3 for $3.95 on Amazon and tossed the one from here. My phone screen has never looked better. read more

Instead I bought a new display off Amazon and then start calling all the nearby mobile repair places. Jack's Place quoted the most reasonable price (at least in Manhattan) and I took my phone there. Nightmare experience here. They upcharged me, destroyed my phone then blatantly refused to acknowledge responsibility. There are much more honest phone repair shops out there. My story is this: the sim card got stuck in my iPhone SE. The T-Mobile store around the corner recommended I take it to this shop. I thought, why not, seems like a simple enough problem. They said they wanted 30 bucks to take the card out, then after about 20 minutes wait, they said they took the card out, but now the sim card reader was broken, and they wanted 60 more bucks to replace that, plus tax of course. Now it turns out that most repair shops will tell you iphone sim readers can't be replaced. But I had a flight the next day and I was too rushed to do more shopping around and research, so I said yes. When I get my phone back, it's acting weird - the fingerprint reader's not working. The shopkeeper says that's normal, just update the phone or reset it and the problems will go away. I say, ok, I'll take it home and try that. Big mistake. 10 minutes after I step out of the shop, it starts boot looping. I reset it at home and try to update, and it gets stuck boot looping on the update page. It's totally bricked. I take it to the Apple Store and they say catastrophic hardware damage, they can't do anything. I take it to another repair shop to look at and they say the battery connector's been mysteriously fried and they have no idea what this repair shop did. Now, this is a phone that was working perfectly up until I took it to Jack's place, after which it has catastrophic hardware damage. I take it to Jack's place, explain the damage. They say it's impossible for them to know how the phone got damaged and that they don't claim responsibility for what happened to it. I remind them (they remembered me; it hadn't been so long since I took the phone in) that my phone was having problems from the moment I got it back, but they blatantly deny that there were any problems with the phone when they gave it back. So who's the liar? They offer to either refund my money or keep my money and try to fix the problem with the phone that they caused. Now, considering what they've already done, I have no incentive to let them get anywhere near my phone. So thank you, Jack's place, for destroying an excellent phone of mine and causing me many headaches in the midst of a business trip, free of charge. read more

This place is the best. I have an old ipod classic that no one has anymore. It started with an issue with the headphone jack. Then when I picked it up, the menu kept getting stuck. Then the lock button didn't work. Arkadi was so patient, professional and helpful in spite of the mutiple times I took it in. And he didn't charge me except for the very 1st time. It works jist as new now! I like old electronics and not a fan of updating gadgets every month! I am so glad Jacks place is in my neighborhood. I have also taken my laptop and phone here. I was told by more than one expert that I'd need to buy a new screen, which wasn't cracked, but wasn't working after dropping the phone. I took it to Jack's since they are close to my office, and they told me the same. When I went to pick it up a few hours later, I had a pleasant surprise - they were able to reconnect and reinforce my screen, saving money and resources. I am so disappointed with the repair I received. I originally was looking for a stand-alone battery charger since the charging port on my GS 3 was going bad. I didn't want to bother with a repair because I honestly don't trust repair shops much. Nonetheless, the person insisted that the repair was simple and that it wouldn't be a problem. I made the mistake of telling him that I was going to be traveling... DO NOT LET THEM know you are traveling... I feel that by telling them that, they knew that I couldn't come back to complain if they didn't fix it. When I picked up the phone, I was already late for my flight so I paid and ran out. It wasn't until after the fact that I began to doubt the repair because he mentioned there was some wire on the inside he couldn't repair. Why was I charged when he couldn't fix the phone. It's my mistake for paying the bill but ultimately the repair was not completed properly and I lost $50. Travelers stay away since you won't have a chance to raise hell after you've been taken advantage of. read more

I was referred to Jack's via Nokia's warranty repair care point locator after the screen lock slide button broke off my Nokia N97. Instead of sending it into Nokia's service center in Texas and waiting about 2 weeks to get it fixed, I decided to bring my phone to Jack's. At first glance the place looks just like any other wireless phone retailer. The staff was knowledgeable and courteous and not pushy at all. I dropped the phone off for the in warranty repair on a Tuesday and it was finished by the next afternoon. It was a quick and clean (free) transaction. read more

I went back there to speak with the owner. He is a very nice guy and listened to what I had to say and deeply apologized for how the staff handled the situation. He promised me that he would personally take care of it. He was very professional. I had to leave my phone over night since he said that he should order a new mother board for the phone. I just got my phone back and its working perfectly. And they did not charge me for anything. I really was very impressed with how the owner handled the situation. I went to Jack's place to get my iPhone 5 unlocked. Picked it up, paid $35, went to Ireland and put a new sim in. Not unlocked at all and I have now been stranded without a phone for over a week. In fact, apart from scratching the side of the phone, I don't think they did anything with it. Rip-off merchants. I only wish I was still in NYC so I could demand my money back. Avoid. read more

ok, this is what happened with this place. I came in because my phone wasn't charging properly. I thought it was the connection problem. I left my phone in the morning (had to wait 1/2 till the owner came in as store was closed past the opening time) and they told me to go pick it up in the afternoon. The estimate was about $48. When I went back I asked if they replaced the connector, the answer was no, so I am not sure what they did except for pampering my phone and giving it some massage. Well, the charger worked for a whole week! (uuuhh!! amazing, isn't it?) and then started doing again the exact same issue as before, not charging, beeping all the time. I called the store which told me to bring it back but considering they weren't able to fix it for good the first time I decided to take the matters in my own hands. Well, the issue seemed to be that the battery was loose, no fitting properly so not connecting properly, my PERMANENT solution was the following: I put a piece of TISSUE PAPER on the bottom of the battery to push it upwards toward the connection. Guess what? problem solved for 0.01 cents. I tried to reach the store again, sent them a message on Facebook which was ignored, called them but couldn't reach anybody so I opened a dispute for the charge with my credit card, in that case the owner was very quick in giving a proof of everything that was done and they removed the hold and charged me again. I really feel fooled and robbed of $48. Bottom line. AVOID THIS PLACE. read more
