A great place for all kind of cameras...! From 4x5 or 8x10 view cameras to DSLR, parts found and cameras repaired. Takes time, but job done well, I'm glad I found this place.

A- Judges Decision B- Timeline of all the motions they forced me to make

After two years and four court appearances Camera Doctor was finally ordered by a Ny judge to hand over my lens they held hostage trying to shake me down for hidden " service charges." There are plenty of honest camera repair centers to go to in NYC. So take note on how petty these guys were spending TWO YEARS to shake me down for a $65 estimate fee not agreed upon I advance. Heed this warning.

When you see several reviews that warn you about a business, it is best to take heed. I learnt that lesson one more time the hard way. In summary: avoid Camera Doctor at all cost. I brought a carbon fiber tripod with a leg that was loose and won't stay on. They inspected it, clearly saw the leg come off, and quoted $45 + tax to fix it. I left the tripod with them and they called me in a few hours to say it was fixed. I picked up the tripod the next day trusting they repaired it as they claimed, but when I get home and took the tripod out of its case, I noticed that they hadn't fixed the problem at all! The leg came off just like it did before they "fixed" it. The following day I called them and they asked me to bring the tripod in. They are a good 30 minutes from where I live, but fine--I will go since I didn't have a choice. One of the guys (the only polite one) said I would have to leave the tripod for a while and he would let me know after the other technician comes in and takes a look. I called back in an hour since I was still in the area. The owner picked up, said they misunderstood what needed fixing (sic) and now think a part needs to be ordered. I said I would prefer to just pick up the tripod. And he offered to refund me. So on my fourth visit to them, when I picked up the tripod, the owner claimed I was rude to him on the phone (what?!) and accused me of not defining the problem accurately. Hmm ... the tripod leg comes off and you saw that the first time I brought it--what else do you need to know? On top of wasting hours of my time, he was now needling me to have an argument--very unnecessary. Here is some feedback. Keep your seemingly well-known attitude in check when you clearly botched it. And pay more attention to checking if you performed the services you are charging good money for. I will never return to Camera Doctor and would *strongly* advise you to stay away from them.

The owner was yelling at me crazily and he said he would find me if I give a bad google review. He also humiliated me with words and pointed his fingers at me repetitively. The whole time I didn't say anything unrespectful but he kept attacking me personally and tried hard to show his power. The experience was just depressing. I was charged $48 for taking off a lens filter that could actually be scrolled off easily. When I questioned their diagnose after learned that fact from my friend, he wouldn't return my unfixed lens and the above things happened. I rather pay $100 for not going through these again. But girls, you should never be afraid to speak up or try to protect your rights. In the end, he asked me to appreciate him for allowing me to check the status of my lens.

    Name of the offending shop.

Camera Doctor and it's proprietor, Joseph are the very establishment that is the poster child of RIP OFF ESTABLISHMENTS!!! There are also the case & point on why every person considering choosing a repair shop throughly research Yelp before considering- I wish I did because I would have found out that I am not alone in my dissatisfaction with the company. Basically on Dec 10 , I brought in a Canon 100-400 lens to be cleaned Joseph gave me an estimate of $125-$150 which I thought was reasonable. Right B4 Christmas they called and inflated the estimate to $550 which I declined. When I went to pick up the lens they refused to give it to me demanding I fork lover a $55 "service charge" which I had never agreed to. Joseph refused to return my lens which I needed for a news job. It turned out they didn't have it - it was somewhere in New Jersey. It wasn't until January 6 when the lens was at the shop but they still tried to extort me for $55. I called the police but they said it was "a civil matter" and therefore I was forced to buy a new lens because the court date won't be until mid October 2023. I'm also filing a complaint with the Ny Attorney General's office as well as the Better Business Bure and the FTC for Deceptive Practices which are actionable under NYS Consumer Law S349. NOTE: By contrast Nippon and Chrysler Camera charge $5- $10 if they charge at all. Neither Canon, Nikon , Sony or any other camera manufacturer charge any service charges. Let my misfortune be your lesson - NEVER BRING IN ANY EQUIPMENT TO CAMERA DOCTOR AND RESEARCH ANY PROSPECTIVE REPAIR CENTER BEFORE CONSIDERING DOING BUSINESS!!!!

The only place in the US I have repair my film cameras. I have been using Camera Doctor since 2015 and have had only positive results.

Thanks for fixing my tripod on the fly! You guys are pros. Last place I went to didn't even look at it because "they only fixed cameras."

Frank advised me to return my camera which was still under warranty because he couldn't fix it in time for my trip.

It feels a bit like a cousin of B&H with a slightly different personality and focus, but the same strong sense of expertise and professionalism. The store is large but not overwhelming, well-organized, and clearly oriented toward photography and content creation, though it also has dedicated sections for musical instruments and scuba gear that make the place feel unique. The scuba area is a little unexpected at first, but I suppose people who love gadgets and gear often overlap with that world as well. I honestly haven't purchased much here over the years aside from a few items, though I definitely bought a PlayStation controller here during COVID. A lot of the appeal for me was simply walking around, learning about new products, and talking with staff who actually know what they're discussing. You really get the sense that the employees are enthusiasts and specialists, not just salespeople. Their pricing also feels very competitive, with an emphasis on staying current and cutting-edge while still maintaining a "money well spent" mentality around sales and service. The atmosphere is calm and professional, and while the store is smaller than B&H or Abt, it's still an excellent size. If you're downtown or near Union Square, it's also much more convenient than heading all the way to the Penn Station area. Highly recommend for anyone into electronics, photography, audio gear, or just technology in general.

They turned this order around in less than 24hrs. Service was excellent. They sent me a proof of my order and an hour later I received a notification that my order was ready. Really nice doorman building. I was sent to the 5 floor. I stared my name and they showed my my order. Packaged it up and sent me off This is the best deal around. I went to print photos from my iPhone and they came out amazing! I printed both 4x7 photos and 5x7 photos. The process is easy. You go to the website and click upload photos. Bobby retrieves them on his end and gives you a choice of matte, glossy and luster. He shows you samples if you're unsure of what you want. I waited about 15 minutes and the prints were ready. Again, the process was super easy. I'm sure if you submit the upload ahead of time before going there you may not have to wait as long. Side note, everyone else there was printing headshots and resumes. They were all actors. This place is popular for headshots. I would recommend this place for all photo printing. The quality and colors is high quality even though they were digital prints from my iPhone.
