This is my go-to location for develop, scan, and print of 35mm film. They seem to do a better job than their competitors at color correction, they're right in Midtown, and they offer prints for only $3 more, which encourages me to keep physical copies of my work. If I recall, you get a TIFF for the price rather than it being an upcharge from JPEG as is done elsewhere. They have gone out of their way to be helpful on multiple occasions - for example I've asked them basic questions, such as "why is this image underexposed" and they've stopped to patiently explain, despite being busy with other work. Film photography is often not worth the additional time and effort these days, especially when film itself is in short supply. But film photography is therapeutic and still the medium of choice for many photographers, and LTI Lightside is the photo lab of choice for a large number of them. I only use film sparingly. But when I do, I bring my rolls to LTI for developing and scanning. They have a well organized storefront. They offer discounts to students. Their quality of work is generally very good. And they unfailingly meet their deadlines, whether it is color or black-and-white or slide film. Justin and Bernie are very friendly. Last time around I forgot to pick up the negatives for months. Justin spent over 15 minutes looking for my negatives and won't stop until he found them. Such great service is admirable especially when you consider my small orders. I will continue to use LTI for my processing needs and sure hope their business thrives and helps keep film photography alive. read more

Still get my 35mm and 120mm processed and scanned here... 5 years later! Always quick turn around and ready when I come to pick up. Scans are better price point and quality than another lab I get my E-6 developed at. I have never sent in film in the mail with their order form, but could be useful during this COVID time. Beautiful quality prints BUT - I've been getting prints there for a while and sending them to people, but I rarely ever get confirmation emails or tracking numbers and the status on my online orders for orders that were shipped and completed months ago still say "not shipped" so I was always having to reach out and ask for tracking and by the time I'd receive it my package would have already arrived. read more

I've tried several labs here in NYC, and coming from The SF Bay Area, most of the premier labs here compare to those back home quite amazingly, but LTI-Lightside has become my favourite. Very consistent with their results-- development just as specified. Haven't lost a roll yet! Great prices are a plus too, and their student discount helps the wallet as well. I have been coming here for 10 years (or more?), as all the labs started closing down in the city. I mostly use them for processing and scanning 35mm film. They do a lovely job with my scans, and in all this time I've never had an issue -- at this point I wouldn't go anywhere else. I've used these guys a handful of times for B&W medium format processing. Their film processing is fast and reasonably priced. However, each time there have been minor issues with some of the rolls (color cast from developer not washing out fully, thin line across the film, streaks, crud on the film). I scan the films and digitally process them so the issues are easy to fix in post, but wish I didn't have to. read more

Fast, but not terribly cheap 120mm film processing. You pay for what you get though. Your prints will never look better. Do great digital transfers also! read more

I shoot medium and large format bw and slide. These guys always ask when I bring in my film backs, they know their dev times and chemistry, and are totally professional. I took them a roll I had shot that expired in 78' and they had no problem running it. Their 120 scans look good, very little dust on the neg/slide, and I am trusting them with my 4x5 slides for scanning. read more

I used to use another local lab until someone recommended LTI, I haven't used anyone else since! They take really good care of your negatives (no stains, fingerprints, or marks like some places I've used). The staff is super friendly and the turnaround for processing is really quick (usually a couple hours). read more

Horrific. Not only was I not told they screwed up my film in processing, but I was still charged the full $51 for developing and printing 3 rolls of regular c41 film. I got only 4 images off one of my rolls!!! None of the 3 were complete! Absolute mistake not just going back to Luster. Don't waste your time or money. read more

This place is a hit or miss. In other words, they are either good or awful! They exposed 6 sheets of my large format film, which I had given them for developing. Warning. I had a friend process his medium format film here and they cut off the first shot of his roll. I decided to try them anyway because they were so close. I told them my concern and the owner told me repeatedly that doesn't happen. Well, I got my film back and it happened to me too. While developing it they cut off the first image in the roll. Do not take your film here if you value it. Thankfully it was a roll that wasn't that important to me. If you value your film, do not trust them with it. read more

They ruined 4 rolls of B&W negatives that I took on a cruise to Labadie Haiti (chemical was too warm and couldn't be fixed). I developed the next rolls of B&W with Darkroom and they did a great job at a fraction of LTI Lightside's cost. read more

Started making runs to this place while working for a highly reputable photographer in the West Village. There is a reason the players go here. They understand name recognition and customer service. More so, if your a regular like me they treat you as a valued customer, not a dollar sign. Always polite and like a bartender at a local dive, they know exactly what I want. I've been taking my own work there ever since. It's a bit pricey but they know their stuff when it comes to dedicated film processing of test rolls and push/pulls. My only grip is that I went down there today to make a drop off and they were closed about 45 minutes early. It bummed me out, but when your trying to make a business out of what is becoming a dying art, I understand if you have to cut a few corners on payroll or let everyone go early for a long holiday. Either that or they need to open a lab out in Flatbush. Until then I'll still be glad to take my film here. Just call first.. read more

I've been shooting for over three decades (hurts to even think about it) and will say that LTI is a great pro lab. I have them do both my large and medium format film as well as film scanning, and I'm happy with the quality and service. Mind you, once in a while there will be a technical glitch - when this happens they will sit with you to try and work it out. read more
