It feels a bit like a cousin of B&H with a slightly different personality and focus, but the same strong sense of expertise and professionalism. The store is large but not overwhelming, well-organized, and clearly oriented toward photography and content creation, though it also has dedicated sections for musical instruments and scuba gear that make the place feel unique. The scuba area is a little unexpected at first, but I suppose people who love gadgets and gear often overlap with that world as well. I honestly haven't purchased much here over the years aside from a few items, though I definitely bought a PlayStation controller here during COVID. A lot of the appeal for me was simply walking around, learning about new products, and talking with staff who actually know what they're discussing. You really get the sense that the employees are enthusiasts and specialists, not just salespeople. Their pricing also feels very competitive, with an emphasis on staying current and cutting-edge while still maintaining a "money well spent" mentality around sales and service. The atmosphere is calm and professional, and while the store is smaller than B&H or Abt, it's still an excellent size. If you're downtown or near Union Square, it's also much more convenient than heading all the way to the Penn Station area. After taking the time to confirm my order not once, but twice with a sales associate, I was assured that everything was properly processed and secure. Despite this, my order was abruptly canceled without any explanation, notification, or attempt to resolve the issue. This reflects a serious lack of professionalism, reliability, and basic customer service. It is unacceptable for a company to provide false reassurance and then fail to follow through without even the courtesy of communication. As a customer, this not only wastes my time but also undermines any trust I might have had in the company. Based on this experience, I have no confidence in this business and will not be purchasing from them again. **I just wanted to update everyone. So I used PayPal for my purchase through Adorama, thankfully. It's actually one of the reasons I use PayPal - for the protection. Adorama obviously tried being shady and stating that they delivered the package, when it was abundantly clear they didn't, which was the reason they reached out to me in the first place. After some time, fighting through PayPal; PayPal sided with me and refunded me the money that they owed me. I honestly just wanted the light because it was a new release and a good deal at the time. I spent so many hours talking with Adorama and never got a sincere apology. Never got the light. The lady that handles the reviews here on Yelp.... NEVER responded. So the whole "please reach out to us, we want to help resolve this...blah blah blah" is completely insincere. All she did was waste more time because I spent a LONG time explaining the ENTIRE situation and got no reply. I triple checked that I sent it to the correct email and it was. That alone tells you everything thing you need to know about this company. I'm not sure if I mentioned the light I bought but it was a Flashpoint, which is a rebranded light. Many of you may know it as Godox. They're exactly the same, different names. The reason why I bring this up is because you can simply buy Godox from another site. I'm not going name the best site to get it from but they're the biggest and pretty much the best photography site - they're trustworthy and actually help you if you have an issue and most importantly, they don't try to rob you because they made a mistake. So if you're like me and have a lot of Flashpoint gear, then you can just use Godox with it. Lights, triggers, everything. I'm sorry for the very long post(s) but I just want to help people avoid going through what I went through. I got my money back, which isn't easy with PayPal, especially when going against a fairly large company like Adorama....but the fact that I got my money back, just shows that I'm in the right about this and Adorama should be incredibly ashamed of their tactics. I even had to get a police report and again, Adorama lost. They wasted my time, tried stealing $899 from me and really...the list goes on. While $899 isn't a huge amount of money, it's certainly a good chunk of change, especially during these hard times. I also want to state that I was incredibly kind with everyone I spoke to. Adorama was somewhat kind but you can tell, it just wasn't sincere. Like the "Adorama Manager" that responds to the complaints on Yelp. Zero help. The kindness isn't real. They just want other people to see that they are trying to help but in reality, they are not. That's why I feel it's very important that I update people with my experience. Also, when you look at Google reviews versus Yelp reviews, there's a HUGE difference. They're highly rated on Google but low on here. Yelp has an amazing algorithm that prevents fake reviews. If you are ever looking for reviews on any company, you do NOT just want to go off Google reviews because many are not real. Yelp is absolutely amazing when it comes to seeing real reviews. They sold me a rs5 that was missing the upper quick release plate. Whenever I called and asked for them to send one they told me that the listing said it was missing it when I was looking at the listing and it said it came with product. I had to buy a product then spend more money buying the missing pieces. This is awful way of treating your customers and I will never order from adorama again. read more

The first Sunday of August I came in here an hour before closing because I needed a new digital camera for my trip to Iowa. I looked around for a bit and then asked an employee about what I wanted which was a simple point and shoot digital camera. He showed me a few and I decided on the Minolta MNB5Z. I've been a loyal Adorama customer for over a decade. I'm a professional user and have spent almost $53,000 in that timeframe. I recently ordered a $50 flash attachment, instead they shipped me a pair of $165 earbuds. I immediately emailed them to notify they of their costly mistake. Rather than thank me for honesty, their response inferred that I was either a liar or confused. "if your order is incorrect", "provide photo evidence". We all make mistakes but when a longstanding customer points out an issue, jump to fix it, right? Not Adorama. They refuse to ship what I ordered until I ship back their oops. They should be acting in good faith and rushing to make it right instead of acting like I'm trying to rip them off. There are too many retailers selling video and camera gear to act like this. A simple "thank you for being honest" would have gone a long way. (Update) Five days after reaching out to Nancy as requested, I still don't have my order and she hasn't replied to my message. (Update 2) Even after shipping back the item they mistakenly sent, they sent an email saying they'd have to inspect the item before refunding my money for the item they never sent. From order to refund was over twenty days. The Buddhist monks have walked across most of the US in less time. They were quick to charge my card but really couldn't be bothered to ship the right item or make it right in a timely manner. read more

Its a compact store unlike its competitor and it excels because they curate their items and only carry the top of the line stuff like canon, nikon, sony and mainly specialize in all things camera. I think the staff guy is named William, and he's not looking to oversell or pressure you into making a pricey purchase that you don't need. I went to the store to buy a polarizing filter for my slr camera and the staff guy helped me find the right product, for the right price, tiffen at $25 usd before taxes, and install it because I have a habit of jamming it. I've bought from them before and I usually have no issues getting in and out with purchase in hand. I'd highly recommend if you love photography. read more

Ordered an item open box, and while the listing clearly stated the included items, Adorama failed to ship ANY of them, over $1000 worth of items, including bits required to make the scope function. Over a week later, they have yet to give any sort of explanation or indication of whether they even INTEND to make it right, so now, in the absence of responsive communication from them, I have to deal with repackaging everything and returning. This is my third time in a row because I am taking a class for Darkroom photography. I was gonna post this review earlier but got busy ! Every time I am here had a wonderful experience! Never once I had an issue, most of the people working here go out of their way to help. While I wait for my items to arrive I have watched them with other customers! And I can say they pay great attention to every customer comes to their store. The store manager is the lucky one to have such an excellent team to work with ! Only thing I have to mention is no matter how much you spent on an online order , you have to pay shipping for it. Other places don't do that! I had to spent almost 700$ for my analog camera, film, paper, other materials. And some stuff they didn't had they ordered them but I had to pay shipping. Delivery problems I ordered a set of color ink cartridges (8) and the website said they would be delivered the following day. I also ordered a photo black cartridge that the site said would be delivered in a couple of days. On the day the set of cartridges was supposed to be delivered, I received 5 of the 8 dumped into a box with no packing slip. The following day I received 1 more cartridge, but have no idea when the next 2 of the set will arrive or the date I'll get the black cartridge. Customer service is entirely closed because of a religious holiday--the website provides no customer service. Oh and they also charge you extra for delivery protection--so you pay extra for the bad service. read more

Last month I ordered a pair of Klipsch tower speakers from Adorama at a great price. I have ordered photo gear from them in the past, but this was my first LARGE audio purchase. One of the speakers was damaged by UPS during shipping, so I contacted Adorama customer support immediately. They responded within 24 hours, and after I sent them pics if the box & damage, I was instructed to pack the speaker back up for UPS to pick up. Long story short, within a few days I had the new speaker and everything sounds great! Adorama: Totally contradictory web listing that I attempted to use their chat to straighten out but which which was cutoff in the middle of my attempting to type up the problem and buy the right model guitar. I subsequently noted I was permanently cutoff from using the chat function as the chat subsequently rejected my attempt to re-use it like 5 times.Then tried telephoning and that person had no idea about the chat service cutoff and just wanted the model # initially stated in their website listing (but also contradicted) and assured me I would get the right version of the guitar if I just bought it.......right...and pigs can fly. Bait and switch with sales person - the prices quoted over the phone did not match what I was charged. In fact, two pending charges were made against my card (for a single order) within minutes of my call and neither matched what I was quoted (separately or combined). I spent nearly two hours on the phone with customer service to get the errors corrected. No real action was taken to address my concern until I told them to cancel the entire order. I found this extremely rare tripod online and only one location after seeing it last June at the BILT conference in Manhattan and falling in love with it. I couldn't stop thinking about it. It was literally a work of art - as a tripod, and I found it only @ Adorama. After going back-and-forth about it in my mind a few times I decided to take the plunge. Adorama said they included free shipping and it would take only two days so I waited at home an entire day for the item but it never showed up. They then told me it would take two more days, which was very upsetting. Charmaine a customer service specialist, rooted in the Philippines, took over my case and "made it right". She listened to my issues, problems and concerns and ended up getting me approved for a small yet important credit to my account for my trouble of waiting for it and it actually showed up a little bit earlier than expected; and Adorama has kept a good customer just that - a good customer and I love my tripod. read more

After almost a decade, or maybe even its past that, my trusty Canon 60D was dead. Sadly the folks at Phototech Repair informed me that this model was no longer serviceable and that meant a replacement was going to be in order. I was back and forth on what to do and which camera to purchase and while I wanted to move into the Mirrorless space and remain a Canon user, the price point was still a little out of reach since work has been slow and the price of absolutely everything has been through the roof. After deciding on snagging a used model of a device I liked it was over to Adorama I went. The day was freezing out so it was nice to be inside the fully loaded with awesome shop and begin to browse and also get myself this item. The staff here are very professional and all seemed quite courteous to me which is a pleasant thing to find. I was attended to by William and the device I decided on was a Canon 80D. An older model but still a very much used device in the field. From my observation the team here know there stuff and do their best to work with you if you are more of a novice. They seem to be more interested in your keeping your needs sated at Adorama than heading to either B&H or Amazon. I'm a satisfied customer but I can say that all should do a little advance homework before going into a place like this since technology and cameras change so frequently. That being said I am happy with my choice and will be returning to Adorama again sometime in the future. read more

Had a good experience in the past. Decided to trade a bunch of equipment and buy some new ones. Instead of sending me a new camera they sent me a dirty used camera with somebody's facial dirt in the viewfinder, crumbs and dirt in the fold out rear display and scratches along the camera. They said they would replace it with a new one and that they made a mistake told me to pay for a new one and they would give me a credit when I return the damaged one. I was obviously dubious of this, but did it anyway because of their reputation my experience in the past. The one I paid for at this point was not what they sent me again and they never credited me back for the other one and I had to report this to my state Attorney General and credit card company. On 1/24/26 I ordered a set of Klipsch speakers from Adorama. I purchased an open box set, described as being excellent condition with speakers like new, but damage to the box. They showed up damaged during shipping because of this. The box was ripped open and the grille cloths had been scraped/scuffed. I contacted the company to see what could be done. Because these were open box items, Adorama only offered me a $25 credit. They did offer to help pay for a replacement set if I could find them online, but these are a new series. No such luck in that department. So I decided to call Klipsch and just see what they would say. The guy I spoke to was very nice. He let me know Adorama is an authorized Klipsch dealer, so he could send me replacement grille cloths at no charge. I guess I could have returned the order and had them ship a new set, but the lack of customer service really rubbed me wrong with these, especially considering the price. On December 1st, 2025, I encountered an advertisement for a $1,895 7.1 Dolby Atmos home theater system on a popular website, linking to Adorama's own website. The product was advertised as new and complete with free shipping. Upon delivery on December 3rd, 2025, it was immediately clear the items Adorama sent were used, damaged, and incomplete, contrary to the advertised description of the new, complete system. I contacted Adorama, providing photographic evidence of the used, damaged, and incomplete condition. Adorama acknowledged in writing that the delivered product was used, damaged, and incomplete. As a courtesy, I made several good-faith attempts to resolve the issue, including efforts to collaborate in facilitating a courier pickup equipped with proper shipping materials (as the original packaging was inadequate). These attempts were met with inadequate responses, refusal to cooperate, and neglect. Adorama advertised and sold a new system but shipped used, damaged, and incomplete items, which constitutes a fraudulent business practice under Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulations, associated state Consumer Protection laws, and contract law. The company's actions clearly violate the truth-in-advertising standards set forth by both state and federal consumer protection laws. The goods provided were materially different from what was advertised. Upon notice and confirmation, Adorama's failure to deliver the correct, advertised product constitutes a breach of contract and Adorama's continual refusal to provide a refund or correct product advertised and sold further exacerbates this breach. During exhaustive efforts to resolve the dispute internally, Adorama engaged in fraudulent and deceptive business practices by attempting to shift the burden of responsibility to the consumer by citing Adorama's internal policies that contradict federal and state law. According to both state's Consumer Protection laws and federal FTC regulations, consumers are not required to incur additional costs or labor to correct a seller's misdeeds. Fraud complaints, including contracts and communications, were submitted to the Office of Attorney General in each state, as well as to the FTC, BBB, courier services, and financial institutions. +1 star for how fast Adorama was at shipping fraudulent items. read more

I have been buying products from Adorama for about 12 years. Always consistently great to buy from, and there support is fantastic. I had to get support to update the firmware for my Flashpoint X100c flash units, and I spoke to a representative named Shua. He was phenomenal. He set up a screen share with me, and went through the troubleshooting in a supportive patient manner. Problem solved in minutes, and my flash units are up to date with the latest and greatest firmware. As for the quality of the Flashpoint units, they are phenomenal. I am able to mix in older flashes with newer flashes with ease, and I can control my flashes remotely using a Sekonic 858 light meter. I even have some older Nikon flash units that I can control using Flashpoint TTL bases, in with the canon-based newer Flashpoint flash units. Flashpoint units are reliable, and are so easily integrated. Yes, you can buy more expensive flash units on the market, but for the cost, capability, and utility, it is hard to beat the Flashpoint units, and the support that you get from Adorama. read more

I had ordered a battery charger and a pack of AA rechargeable batteries for my flash units and it looked like they were being sent in two different shipments, which would have charged me $3.99 twice for shipping. I called the customer service line and spoke with Reese; I mentioned to him that I'm just starting out my small business and every penny counts -- I'm not rich and don't have lots of money to throw around. He checked on the order for me and said, "Since you're a small business just starting out, I am waiving all of the shipping fees." I was hoping to just consolidate it to $3.99 instead of $7.98, which might not seem like a lot, but, as I said, money is tight with the new business. I am ecstatic, though, to be finally pursuing my dream of portrait photography as a living. It is small touches like this that will keep me coming back to Adorama.
