INCREDIBLE HUMAN BEINGS
I have quite the story about 303 boards.
When I was in the sixth grade I was at a Birdhouse demo at BC Surf and Sport at the flatirons mall. I of course brought my board just in case I could get Tony Guhdamn Hawk to sign my board. The demo was awesome, the birdhouse team delivered and it was a huge crowd, but then it started to rain. Everyone gathered into the shop and the signing began, but it was pretty much near impossible to get anywhere near the birdhouse team because of so many people. I put my board down on the stairs and I turned away for what felt like a second and bam it was gone, stolen, and I was left broken hearted. At that time I had a paper route and it took me two months of saving every penny to get that skateboard. So of course like the child I was I started crying quietly on the stairs my friends offered there support in finding it but I knew that it was gone for good. And then like out of a dream a tall figure blocks the large halogen bulb n front of me and sits down next to me. He asks me what happened and I explained in my stuttering mess of teary shame, because no one really wants to be a crybaby in public you know. He heard me out and said,
"I want you to make a promise to me, I'm going to give you my skateboard( Habitat deck, Tensor Trucks, BONE SWISS BEARINGS) but you have to promise me you'll shop at 303 boards rather than this place from now on." I was just in shock and of course I said DEAL, I couldn't believe it. This guy must have been like 18-22 tops just gave me his board. I didn't even get his name and like that he just left. I mean all the hot ladies were frothing out the gash for this guy at this point but WELL DESERVED!!! I mean it was the single kindest thing a complete stranger has ever done for me and I felt like I was floating. So this of course started my love for the shop. Obviously the one in Arvada was where I went and as the years have gone on going to this Denver shop nobody is ever a dick. Just nice people in general. I worked at zumiez for a month of my life and had completely different expectations of what a skateshop is. Zumiez is trash and they are the douchiest company. Walking into 303 Boards is a breath of fresh air. I don't know even buy anything most of the time I literally walk in and just look at stuff and am reminded of what a real skate shop should be like. Just watching kids that are in middle school or even elementary school walk in the employees are great with every customer. I'm not saying that every employee is as heroic as that guy or really good at customer service in general but they enjoyment of their job is there and if you start a conversation with anyone they are more than willing to give advice. They don't bullshit about their stupid brand name upselling like Zumiez does and its a wonderful atmosphere. I have nothing but good things to say about this place and it's one of the last treasures Denver has left. read more
