Walked to this place from our hotel because they serve breakfast all day. Although the breakfast menu is small, they do have a lot of variety in choice, same w the lunch and dinner menus. They do NOT serve omelettes though, so my son was a little bummed out about that. We ended up ordering: * the grilled salmon, which was perfect. Glazed slightly with a balsamic marinade, and served with grilled root veggies. Yum. * the southwest quinoa bowl, which was my favorite. So delicious with heirloom tomatoes, peppers, corn, kale, black quinoa...so GOOD and deliciously fresh! * the cakes, links, and eggs - those panels disappeared fast! Lol So fluffy and delicious. The sausage links were fat and full of flavor! Service was perfect! We sat outside and had the nicest server. They let us take forEVER to order, and then we like to sit around and chat. I ordered 3 Squares through Doordash yesterday, and I was pretty impressed with the food, even with it being delivered! It caught my eye as the reviews on Doordash were all good, and I was in the mood for breakfast! I ordered the Farmers Breakfast, the buttermilk pancakes, side meat (I chose sausage link) and a side of real maple syrup. I was a little bummed that the charge for real maple syrup was $.95 and the side meat was $4.25 for 2 sausage links, but I know some of the cost is because I ordered through Doordash. The farmers breakfast was a huge portion of hasbrowns with carmelized onions, cheddar cheese, scrambled eggs and came with a side of toast that I subbed for an extra pancake as I knew my daughter would want some! For a small fee you could also sub for French toast, fruit, or a breakfast salad which sounded interesting. And then I got the buttermilk pancakes which came with 4 cakes, syrup and whipped butter. They were large pancakes and thick, good flavor and I would definitely get them again! And then I got the side of meat and chose sausages, they were delicious!! I was hesitant to get them because the description said sausage link and I was a little worried it would only come with one, but it came with two and I wish I had taken a photo before diving into them because they were a good size, cooked well with great flavor! Overall, I will eat here again. I noticed the menu is large with a very diverse type of food from all day breakfast, starters like cheese curds or chicken tenders, they have pasta dishes and fish options, as well as daily soups that rotate, salads, burgers and sandwiches and kids meals! The price (other than those pesky Doordash fees) seemed right for the portion size, and next time I might trynto pop into the restaurant to see what the inside looks like, and I will update my review with more photos! read more

Such a great find. My wife had the Quinoa and oatmeal with brown sugar and blueberries! Perfect texture on the quinoa! The blueberries were so fresh. I had the eggs Benedict and hashbrowns. I went out for ladies night and gave this spot a chance. When I walked in it was pretty busy which I was hoping was a good sign. It looks like a normal bar/restaurant but it was clean and well laid out. The server was quick to offer beverages and was great at explaining the menu and gave honest opinions on the food. We shared some Brussel Sprouts (which I'm still not super excited about) but these were tasty and the goat cheese was mild which I liked. I also ordered the southwest quinoa bowl. It looked small but I could barely get through half of it before I was full. It could have used more corn in my opinion, but it was flavorful and the cilantro dressing was not over powering. A friend also shared some of her cheese curds which came with applesauce and a red pepper sambal. A little sweet and spice to dip in. The breading was so good and light. Located at the north end of Main St Maple Grove and just a few steps from my front door is Blue Plate Groups Maple Grove restaurant, 3 Squares. The casual dining restaurant features a small rail bar with plenty of high top seating as well as an opening dining room and south facing patio. I have visited 3 Square a fair amount for brunch, dinner, and happy hour. The fare is what you would expect from an American dining restaurant and Blue Plate. Burgers, wraps, salads, as well as pasta, steak, and seafood dishes. 3 Square, like many of its sister restaurants, also boasts a decent breakfast menu, Freehouse beers, and a nice cocktail program. The service is between good and great. While I cannot speak to the patio or dining room as I tend to sit at the bar, I have had fast, friendly and energetic service as well as slow and somewhat rude service. Honestly, I recommend this place for happy hour. The Freehouse beers are cheap and they run appetizer specials. I've visited for each of my 3 square meals a day and I go back knowing each time that I'll try something different that will be just as good as the last thing I had. You won't forget the steak and pierogies, that's a meal that'll get you through a chilly winter day. The steak is well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The pierogies were savory and smooth. I've been to 3 Squares several times and each time it's been a pleasant dining experience. My favorite thing about this place is their all-day breakfast and incredibly diverse menu. There is a dish for whatever mood you're in. From French toast, to tacos, to meatloaf, the menu offers so much diversity. Haley has been our waitress a couple of times and she was absolutely great. Fantastic customer service with answers for any possible question you may have about the menu. The Food: Deviled Eggs: 5/5. That is all. Nothing more, nothing less. Immediately yes. French Toast: 5/5. They make their French toast with ciabatta bread & while you expect it to be hard when you bite into it, it's incredibly soft. One of the only ways to eat French toast, in my opinion. Shrimp Tacos: 4/5. They did what they were supposed to do, but I wouldn't call them the best or even top 5 tacos I've had. Regardless, they were still good, just not great. Ma's Meatloaf: 4/5. No thing to comment here. It's what you would expect of meatloaf. Would order again. Nothing special. Egg's Benny: 3/5. A very average Eggs Benedict. The eggs were over cooked and hard. I would order this dish again just to see if they were having an off day in the kitchen: Carnitas Tacos: 3/5. While they were okay, they were extremely dry. The meat was definitely over cooked. Breading Pudding for 2: 5/5. If you need to increase your blood sugar, here's the dish for you. I have been to 3 Squares previously but only for lunch so it was a treat to visit them for brunch! I called ahead (8am) for a table "reservation" at 10:30 that morning, which was a Sunday (their busiest morning). They don't take reservations but instead can put you on a reserved list so you have priority seating. I arrived at 10:34 and was told there would be a ten minute wait, and I was lucky to call ahead as the wait line was out the door and everyone else was given a 30 minute wait time. Anyway, I was actually seated almost immediately. Our server was amazing. She was very chipper and in good spirits. My friend ordered a coffee and their Joe's Special. I ordered the Cakes and Eggs n Links with their Oat Pancakes, egg whites and turkey sausage. Even though thee restaurant was packed, the food arrived quickly and was hot off the stove. Everything tasted delicious and I can see why people wait in line! But, I do have two things that were enough to knock it from 5 to 4 stars. 1. With my order, I get a side of eggs. I choose egg whites and was not told that would be an additional $2 on top of my meal (which is a large amount just for eggs, in my opinion), I am of the belief that I should be warned if something will cost extra, especially because I'd have been just as happy with scrambled eggs. 2. My order came with three pancakes (absolutely delicious, by the way) but I was given one small and half-filled container of syrup. Now, yes I do love to absolutely douse my pancakes in syrup, so I may be a little biased, but there is no way that this was enough syrup, and asking for more counts for an extra that I would have to pay for. I found that to be ridiculous and because of it, I only managed to eat two out of the three pancakes (no one sane can eat dry pancake). But, other than that, the food was delicious and I will absolutely be back. read more

I have a few tried and true brunch spots and decided to try something new Sunday. Yes you've guessed it, 3 squares lol. For some reason I was looking for something with parsley and was deciding between hot hash or chilaquiles. So I ended up ordering the chila because of its spice level compared to hot hash. First of, the portion size is equi to 2-3 servings tbh lol I was only able to eat half of my plate. I liked how different the meal was but I'll say it was heavy on the tart side imo. I did save some room for their pancake which was the best I've ever had in my life! L.O. ordered the cakes, eggs and links and he barely wanted to share his pancakes lol. Was so looking forward to visiting this restaurant visited by acquaintances. It was fine to start. We had our waitress come up and start to take our order and my friend asked for a walleye and asked if she could get hashbrowns instead of mashed potatoes. The waitress says we don't make substitutions to meals. Maybe not that term exactly, but something similar. She says I will talk to the cook, after taking just one persons order, proceeds to walk away, not even asking the other three of us what we would like to eat. She never returns. Just keeps visiting other tables. Minutes go by and another waitress takes over and says the other waitress will be going home for the night. Funny thing... she didn't go home, she worked right around us the entire evening. It was so weird. The order was taken and both my friend and her husband did get their hashbrowns and my husband asked for a small alteration. When the food was delivered the man says yes you had many substitutions. Oh my goodness! Do not change anything on the menu! Are you kidding me. We eat out frequently and have never had this happen. Not that great of food and will not return. The people at the Blue Plate Restaurant Company know what they're doing. Today was my first visit to the 3 Squares location and I wasn't disappointed. EXCELLENCE - that's what you get when you combine an American café-style menu with creative recipes, chef grade food execution, quality ingredients, great management, and high standards. I also feel the prices are very reasonable considering what you get for your money. There are so many mediocre (or worse) places in the Twin Cities that could learn a thing or two from these folks. I will have to try again when I actually go and eat here, but delivery in Mother's Day was really just ok. My husbands chicken and waffle type of brunch was really bad. The gravy was like oily water, and the chicken was extremely odd, like little strips but in a triangle shape, Super strange. I got the farmers breakfast, and it was good. It was cold, so it's hard to give a fair judgement of stuff not only on a holiday, but delivery. My son got waffles, really good. We got pancakes to share and it didn't come with butter or syrup. Mehhhh.. slow service & underwhelming food. Prices are slightly higher than expected but what is particularly frustrating is they charge a 3% service fee in addition to gratuity for "employee wellness". I do not agree with this practice. It should not be the consumer's responsibility to supplement employee incomes. That's what tips are for. Restaurants like this are one of the reasons my family has significantly decreased the frequency of dining out. Their food & service quality does not justify their prices and definitely does not justify additional fees. I do not recommend & will not return. read more

We've ordered the salmon scramble, primavera orecchiette, Nashville hot chicken sandwich - to name a few. We've enjoyed each meal, though I don't think any meal has been standout "best of the best" to me. The salmon scramble I had was quite overcooked, so it ended up being very dry, sadly. The drinks here are amazing though. I usually get the Bloody Mary when I'm here for brunch. I've gotten other cocktails for dinner hours and they've been good. read more

These are the Killer Banana Waffles, my order from the morning of our visit. Brûléed bananas, Mini waffles, Praline sauce, Whipped cream, and Pecans. How could this creation not be good?! First time customer here, and WOW! I'm so glad we decided to stop here for dinner. My family and I all got different things, and all were great! I had the Margarita Flatbread, and I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! 10/10, perfect proportions of all the ingredients, tasty and warm. I also stole some of my boyfriends French fries and they were amazing as well! My dad loved his Beet Salad & Lobster Bisque. The restaurant itself had a clean, classy atmosphere. It wasn't too noisy, but it wasn't too quiet where you'd be afraid to talk. The wait time was a little long, but it was dinner on a Friday night, so that's to be expected. The only reason this is a 4 star review and not a 5 is because of the check. We tipped as we usually do for good service, only to look again later that night and realize there was a 4% up-charge labeled for "Employee Wellness". Plenty have restaurants have done that since the pandemic has been hard on the service industry, and we would have happily paid it. The fact that we weren't informed of the charge is what rubbed us the wrong way. Everything is online, so when our waitress was reading out our bill for us, she glossed over the up-charge entirely; no mention of it. Went on Father's Day....yes, expected busy...we get it....waited a hour for the food ....6 people w/reservation....only to have 1 dish...eggs benny come out cold to the touch and the eggs hard. Had it remade....remake was fine. Didn't catch that we were double billed for eggs Benny. Good thing the owner puts his contact info at the bottom of the receipt if you want to share anything with him regarding your experience....sent to him explaining and showed overcharged receipt. Crickets! On the 3rd attempt, "cc" other owner and operations manager.....CRICKETS! Had to walk into restaurant and explain to very understanding on-duty mgr....he quickly processed a refund. Have been a faithful customer at ALL of their restaurants over 20+ yrs.....never again. If this is the attitude with customers, I don't want to imagine what it is with employees. With our family in for a couple of weeks we wanted a place that had home style food in a relaxed atmosphere, 3 Squares delivered for the whole family. 3 squares is part of the blue plate group throughout greater Minneapolis region and is a Maple Grove staple for good food. The vibe is causal with a variety of eating environments inside the restarting and ample outdoor seating on the patio. If it's windy stay inside Maple Grove still isn't grown up enough to provide natural cover from the wind. We arrived in time for happy hour, discount drinks and delicious appetizers. I highly recommend the potstickers, small burger or onion rings as starters all with good sauces. Some food favorites: Meatloaf, Cuban, Tuna Melt, Fish and Chips and the Stroganoff can be personally recommended. Drinks: they have their own beer and and assortment of others on tap as well as some great mixed drinks. You will often see business people of retirees catching a drink and app before they head hone. 3 Squares is a modern restaurant that is located right down Main Street in Maple Grove. My family and I have eaten here many times in person and also have done their carry out. Every single time we have been happy with our experience and left wanted to come back a try it again. Restaurant: When we normally eat here we ask to sit outside and have dined inside once. The patio area here is our favorite because of the fun lights hanging around make your dining experience at night more enjoyabke. The slots in the wood structure above where you eat give you shade and just the right amount of light. The seats and tables are comfy and have always been clean. In the end the patio area for us is just calmer, quieter, and gives you time to just relax and eat your food in the shade as the breeze blows by. The inside of the restaurant is also nice though. The booth was very comfy and we had plenty of room for our family. It wasn't too loud and there were plenty of seats to fill the space. There's cool chain mail over the windows and a fireplace in the back. All in all if you sit either inside or outside there is something to grab your attention and you're in for a good time with either place you choose. The downsides to outside is if it rains it will rain on you. Also the patio area is first come first serve. Food: Here is what makes 3 Squares worth the visit! We have gotten many things off the menu over our visits and I will talk about our favorites that we have. CRISPY CHICKEN TENDERS - These definitely lived up to their name! Super crispy and and packed with flavor. Really nice kick with the crunchy outside and the soft juicy inside. DEVILED EGGS - I am not a huge fan of deviled eggs but these were delightful. Nice mix of spices and with a very soft whipped egg center. There was a lot of flavor packed in them and the bacon on top gave you the crunch that you need! LOBSTER BISQUE - This is on the weekend special of soups and it was one of the better Lobster Bisques I have had. The lobster they had in there was far fresher than what you expect Minnesota to have. Besides it from being delicious there was a ton of it! There were huge chucks of lobster in it and it made it all that more enjoyable. FRENCH TOAST CHICKEN STACK - Ahhhhhh-mazing! By far the best thing on the menu for me and best version of chicken with breakfast I have had in Minnesota. The chicken is crunchy and juicy. The French toast is crisp and soft in the middle. The eggs are always cooked to perfection. The gravy just oozes its way into everything to coat it with a beautiful flavor. I'm getting hungry just thinking of this one!! Overall: 3 Squares is a must do dinning experience if you are in Maple Grove. The food is always delicious and it's very good portions for your money. Nice environment for eating, a little dim but not bothersome. We went for lunch (more like breakfast thanks to the all day breakfast menu)! I had the eggs Benedict with an iced matcha late. Our servicer was nice and checked up on us regularly & the host was very helpful with our reservation & my friend checking in before me. Parking is kind of a nightmare, there is a lot to the side, but that gets full and it's a long cold walk in the winter to the front door. If possible, try to get street parking by the front door off to the side. The patio is also nice in the summer months! read more
