I find that the prices are reasonable and I could ask any questions on the process, making it an ideal spot for first time gone purchasers. You can buy your ammo here as well and do the gun demonstration in person. There's a variety of options for consumers that are more experienced. There is a gun range in Santa Maria that you can use to practice be warned that they are free and so you must purchase that ammo for the practice from the gun club.

They feature the "Best" outdoor hand gun and rifle Range in Santa Barbara County and beyond. The reason I say this is because of the way it is set up and maintained. They also sell ammunition and some popular shooting accessories in their store to members and have a great inventory of different calibers when available. I was surprised to learn they also offer a " in house" firearm rental / daily use option for those interested in trying out something other than what you have to shoot. Ask them for what is available to use and rent out for that day at the range. Best of all, the annual Membership fee offered for (those personnel with Base ID card access) Military and Civilian is still very reasonable and worth the investment. The annual Membership fee always pays for itself in a just a few visits. Set rules and safety guidelines make it a place that you feel safe to take your personally owned firearms to a secure environment not like other very limited shooting ranges that are on public land. The staff at the check-in office are more than friendly and very knowledgeable. It is good to know that the place is run by "professionals" and not those pretending to know it all. You get my point here. Most importantly, I recommend you call their office staff in advance prior to heading out because the increased weekly or monthly Base Rocket Launches do effect their operating hours and days of operation for access. Knowing the Base procedures to get to the Range is important so keeping up with any newest changes will save you allot of time and hassle. A Safety and Security Note: Be reminded that all Base access rules can change frequently without notice in order to support all of the the Base Mission priorities. Before entering the Base, be sure to check all current Federal and California laws concerning the transportation of Guns and ammunition in vehicles. Ensuring that all of your firearms are fully un-loaded / locked in a case or container and all ammunition and your empty "detachable" magazines are safely / locked and stored "separately" from your firearm(s) aboard your vehicle BEFORE heading out and entering the Base entrance. Most importantly: Remember to ALWAYS verbally mention your intended Range visit at the gate and to claim and declare your firearms are SECURE and aboard your vehicle to all Base Security Personnel upon first arrival at the gate. Ensuring, for a smooth and non eventful Range visit and experience. I have been a active member of this Range now for several years. I have had no issues or regrets whatsoever :) . I always have a great time practicing my shooting skills there. I have some really good memories of some Great Shooting events over there. My "5" Star plus rating goes out to them for sure. The team at Cobra Tactical went above and beyond to accommodate my schedule and set up private training for me. Prior to my training session, I sent Naomi a list of ammo and other items that I wanted to purchase for the session. When I arrived, Naomi already had my entire order perfectly organized in a box and ready to go. I was super lucky to have Dave as my instructor. The class session was very informative and focused on topics that actually mattered. The range session was really where Dave really separated himself from the pack. Training sessions that I have previously done with other instructors were very basic and focused on standing still and aiming at a paper target. Dave takes a much more tactical approach. By the end of my training, I felt very comfortable drawing from a holster and shooting while moving, even with distractions. This training was worth every penny. I can't wait to do more training sessions!

I did not only want to check the boxes for CCW requirements but also wanted to get some real-world training. I will definitely go back to Cobra Tactical for additional classes and to renew my CCW.
