Dan and Goodland Guns is my go to gun store in Goleta. The store is a hidden gem (emphasis on hidden) in Old Town Goleta and is a great place to ask questions and get good information on anything firearms related. Dan is always friendly and open to discuss anything you have in mind and is VERY knowledgeable about current California law and what your options are. Every purchase I've made has been done with efficiency and professionalism. I can't imagine going to any other gun store in town if I need anything firearm related. Thought I'd give them a shot at my business. Being gouged 25% fee on ammo shipped to Goodland Guns as a local FFL is ridiculous. This fee is in addition to the CA excise tax. The only effort they had to make for this transaction is handing me my parcel and running my info through the DROS website. If you're having ammo shipped to your local FFL I would recommend going elsewhere in town where the fee is usually a $15-20 flat fee. They charged me $171.25 for having $658 of ammo delivered to their store for pick-up which is obscene. This fee is not listed anywhere on their website. I will not be a returning customer. read more

AVOID!! GOODLAND GUNS LIES ABOUT THEIR PRICING AND PRICE GOUGES. Goodland guns listed their FFL transfer fee as $100 on their website (which is already very high for a transfer fee) but when I confirmed with them what their fee was, they told me it was $200. I asked why it said $100 on their website, and they said that "all prices are subject to change" I quickly changed my order to a different FFL in town that has lower prices, and doesnt price gouge & lie during a pandemic. Stay away from Goodland Guns. They'll surely be out of business soon, but until then, stay away. read more

I rarely leave poor reviews - but I feel people should know my experience. After reading the positive reviews and seeing stickers all over I figured it was a good spot to clean my SA-08 and re-assemble. Standard job. Should be done in an hour or two. Dropped my disassembled shotgun off almost a month ago. First they said finished that week. No phone call, called in and they said next week. Next week no phone call and no one answered the phone. Had to take a business trip and figured no damn way it wouldn't be finished after another two weeks (1 months elapsed). I received no phone calls, and emailed a few times. No response. Picked up my shotgun, and it was exactly as I'd left it. There were a lot of excuses and no answers. The least they could do is call you, or if they can't get it done not accept the work. Sorry Goodland Guns, but you have some work to do. read more

I just did a FFL through Goodland Guns. I could not have been more happier. They were efficient (I believe I dealt with the owner as well as one of his workers. Both were great by the way). They were knowledgeable as I asked them a number of questions they had the answer to. I think the FFL price was very fair. I spoke to a few shops and Goodland Guns was right on target with their fee. I think the thing that impressed me was how the owner conducted his business. He went the extra mile on things that other shops would care less about. For instance, he laminated my firearm safety certificate. WHO THE HELL DOES THAT? Someone who cares about quality and customer service thats who. I've taken the test at other locations and they just handed me the certificate and after a few months in my wallet it disintegrated. It appeared to me that he cared about his customers understanding of the process and of the firearm being purchased. It was the little things that he did that I noticed which really impressed me. I have to say that I will be shopping at Goodland Guns from now on and don't think I will be straying away from them. They gained my trust and confidence which is a hard thing to do. If you were to ask me, my recommendation would be to give them a shot and have them earn your loyalty as a customer. I am pretty confident that you will return as I will be doing. I've been a patron of Goodland Guns for several years and have honestly never witnessed any bad behavior there. In fact, one of the reasons I began shopping at Goodland Guns, and still shop there, is because I witnessed racism, poor customer service, and catty behavior in other firearm stores around town. Goodland Guns has assisted me in purchasing new firearms, Internet purchases, FFL transfers, and selling multiple used firearms on consignment. I've never had a single problem. A couple years back I brought in a bolt action rifle for some work. Had light pruner strikes. The guy said it was fixed. I paid 40$ and left. Still broken. A buddy took a glock in to have sights installed and after 40$ they were nowhere near on target. I've attempted to purchase some stuff online to ship to them and last time I was there Dan mentioned his online fee was going up because everyone had to raise their prices. I left and ordered with no internet fee through a local ffl on the list. This place is unprofessional as hell. I've been been in a few times and straight up ignored. I figured this was the way most guns stores until I moved down south. I understand gun culture in SB is lacking and these guys are one of your only options but they're terrible. Spend the extra gas money and drive 45 min to an hour north and south and you'll have better lgs's to work with. read more

I visited Goodlands Gunshop in Goleta, CA earlier this week. It was my first time there, and will probably be my last. First off, when I walked in, I was the only customer there. Two employee were visible in the very small shop. Neither greeted me ... no "Hello", no "Good Morning", no "How can I help you?" no "Can I help you find something?", no "What brings you here?" ....no nothing. One guy, on the left, facing away from me, appearing to be stocking some shelves, never did turn to look at me. The other fellow, behind the main counter, barely looked up from his vape gear and what all else he had in his hand only to eyeball me and quickly look back down again. I broke the ice by saying, "Hello, do you have any BLANK BLANK BLANK available?". I was answered with a "No" but nothing else. I could have lived with that and would have spent a few more minutes seeing what they did have, but I didn't because of what I heard. During this whole time, modern "music" was playing, nearly loud enough to disrupt a conversation. That was bad enough, but after hearing "nigger" 7 times along with several misogynistic terms for "loose" women and the sexual acts they were to perform, I called it a day. This is no way to operate a business .... ANY business. So you don't believe in customer service ... I get it ... build it and they will come. But at least have the decency to turn the volume down when the public walk into your business intent on buying something if you have it in stock. If I could give zero stars I would. I came into the shop on a Saturday to look at complete AR Lowers as my son informed me that they had three on display the week before. This is my first time into the shop. There was no greeting at all. Two guys were sharing small talk and one guy behind the counter was busy with his smart phone. There were two Spikes Complete lowers on display. I inquired about the lack of California compliant hardware on either lower. I asked how can he sell them that way. His reply is that he can sell them that way regardless as it is the purchasers responsibility to add the compliant hardware AFTER THE PURCHASE HAS BEEN MADE. Perhaps he knows something I don't but it doesn't matter. He allowed that I can purchase my lowers somewhere else. Maybe this is why the business has been so good at GoodLand Guns that they've had to take up residence behind the street front store they used to occupy in favor of a broom closet out back. read more
