Eden was over an hour late to his appt., which is the reason for three stars instead of four. Given the "ad hoc" nature of their business i would suggest calling an hour or so ahead of time to see what their schedule really looks like. In any case, once he arrived he did a professional job of repairing the ignition of a car that had been stolen. It actually took hours to repair the steering wheel lock and ignition AND hundreds of dollars, but he did it in my driveway, so... What are you going to do? They are not running a charity and the thieves had not been kind to the ignition so as to start the car. I Google cheap locksmith and I got them .....He showed up at a reasonable time. But the whole time he was worrying about me to pay upfront like I'm about to run off somewhere. TLDR: After being told the technician would arrive within 30 minutes and would charge me $130 to $190 max, I waited almost 3 hours and was charged over $200. USE A DIFFERENT LOCKSMITH, you'll end up paying the same amount and the customer service can't possibly be worse. I have worked in customer service for years and am very gracious towards any business, but my experience with this business was one of the worst I have ever witnessed. Forcing me to do one of the least favorite things, write a long/negative review. I called in at a quarter till 5pm, I described my exact situation multiple times and answering all follow up questions. The gentleman on the phone told me that the price would be $130 to $190 max and that the technician would arrive at my house in 30 minutes. Great! 15 minutes later I start waiting outside (technician did not have my number and wanted to make things as easy as possible), after an hour I called to make sure everything was okay. When I called to follow up and make sure everything was fine, the gentleman on the phone told me that the technician was stuck in traffic and that it would be ten additional minutes. 25 minutes later, I call again to ask what has happened. The gentleman on the phone informed me that the tech was on another job but that he was on his way from Garden Grove (I live in Fountain Valley). Didn't give the guy hassle about lying to me on the last call just asked him to be clarify specifically that the tech wasn't still on another job but that it he was literally on his way form Garden Grove at that time. I told him I wasn't trying to be difficult, but I wanted to know if I should still be waiting or not. He confirmed the technician was on his way. The gentleman on the phone was apologetic and offered me 10% off, which was nice of him. Other than clearly not knowing what's going on, which is probably not his fault, the gentleman on the phone who I spoke with after the first time (first time was another gentleman I believe) was a pleasure to deal with. So as of now, really not great. 40 minutes later, this time after confirming who I am and that I am still waiting the same gentleman actually calls the technician. It is then confirmed to me that the tech's job will take another 20 minutes and then he will head over from Garden Grove. At this point I have been sitting outside waiting, and I might as well wait longer and get it done. I ask for them to give the tech my telephone number and request to be called upon arrival, I didn't want to be demanding, but I didn't want to have to keep waiting and watching. I also asked if there was any way I could get a better discount, never asked for that in my life, but at this point I am surprised it wasn't being offered. The gentleman stated he could give me 12%, I immediately accepted his offer. Approximately 30-40 minutes later the technician arrived. I supervise and train customer service for a living, something that is extremely common is for a person to be pleasant with things they deal with all the time, but as soon they aren't just repeating the same information habitually, they show how they genuinely feel. This gentleman was one of those people, polite about the basics, rude about the curve-ball. However, because of this he was overall pleasant, and he did his job correctly. The technician quoted me 250, I asked about the 190, and he assertively stated that for this service it would be 250. I was so over it at this point I just said fine, however I did ask (please note I asked) about the 12% discount. The gentleman aggressively asked me "who told you that?!". First, I asked about it nicely when I could have demanded it as I was already promised it. Second, I just waited 3 hours is it really that shocking that someone would offer me a small discount?? Again, I do this for a living, most customers would demand a lot more compensation or as to speak to the owner, I just wanted to have a peaceful experience and get it over with. I do appreciate that he awkwardly called to confirm the discount, but it's not a great idea to be rude about a discount promised to a customer for obvious reasons. But wait, there's more. The technician had me read the VIN number to him outside with little lighting. I waited with him outside for 25 minutes, while he waited for the codes to make the key. He received a call and it was confirmed that we had provided an incorrect VIN. Once he was inside his van with adequate lighting, he was able to see that what was reported as a 6 not a G. I am not sure why it took 25 minutes for them to realize that no search results were coming up with the VIN, maybe I just don't know how it works, however the technician did take the opportunity to confirm to me it was my fault multiple times (even though I apologized the first time he mentioned it). In conclusion, I paid $35 more than my max estimate (after the discount) and waited over 2 hours more than I was told while dealing with plenty of minutia along the way. read more
