I've eaten at maybe 50 BBQ joints between Dallas, Kansas City and finally Jackson. This place can hold its own. Between Salt Lake City and Jackson Hole this is your best food option. The meat is well smoked, the fries and Mac'n Cheese are really good. I'd say the sauce's are a little weaker than I'd prefer. It's nice having a great place to eat when we're here. Service wasn't bad at all, solid timing. But the food is where they really lost me. Out of the countless barbecue spots I've been to, this one has got to be the worst tasting. This food is a disgrace to bbq. The sweet potato fries are the only thing I'd ever consider getting again. Chicken was tolerable at best, too smoky. But the ribs tasted like it had been under a food lamp for 3 days. Borderline beef jerky. The Mac and cheese was no better than school cafeteria food and I was severely disappointed.The toast was to crispy I had a whole mountain of crumbs on my lap. We came in with a party of 7 on a Saturday for lunch. Our drinks and appetizer order was taken right away. We got our drinks, except 2. Placed food orders. Apps came out, not very good. Finally had to ask for the missing drinks. Other customers came in, ordered, ate and left before our food came out. Nobody offered to refresh our drinks or check on us for at least 30 min. We were brought a small plate of fried pork rinds because of the wait. After 90 min our food finally came. Cold french fries, ribs too well done, smoked Mac and cheese was bland. Food was mediocre. Owner/manager offered us only 10% off the bill. After nearly 2 hours. When we got up to pay I saw another table of gentlemen tell him they weren't staying and to cancel their order. And when I was paying they tried to charge us an 18% large party fee after all of that. Maybe it was just a bad day, I don't know. But none of us will be going back. read more

This place was a surprise gem. The menu was amazing. They make all their items in house including brisket, prime rib, chicken and sauces. It also has a full bar with specialty drinks and a large selection of beers. We were passing through on our way to Jackson Hole and stopped for lunch. I had the brisket quesadilla that had pickled onions, cheese and a delicious white sauce called Alabama white sauce made in house. Awesome barbecue meats and sides. I got the two meat platter of brisket and ribs and my wife got the brisket and chicken, all of which were very tasty. Make sure you get the white sauce, it was delicious. My two sides were baked beans and Mac n cheese while my wife got Mac salad and Cole slaw. All the sides were good too, except the Mac n cheese was a little runny! The staff is super nice and accommodating and the prices are very reasonable for bbq. The ribs tasted great but had very little actual meat on them, otherwise everything else was awesome! Highly recommend for takeout back to your cabin! read more

Prices were very cheap but portions were not that large. I ordered a two meat plate. 2 medium size pork back ribs and maybe 4 oz of brisket. The brisket was sliced and then chopped into bite size pieces. The top piece was dry , but the remaining pieces were very moist w some fat. Very tasty. Pork ribs Were tasty, just not enough meat on them. My wife tried the brisket sandwich which was a better deal. Sauces served on the side were very good. Overall a decent BBQ shop. I am giving 225 BBQ 5 stars because it must be the BEST eatery in the surrounding vicinity. The food was really delicious. Thayne is out in the middle of about nowhere Wyoming, and we stayed there to avoid the $300+ hotel rooms in Jackson. (more about that in another review). You order at the counter and wait for them to call you to come get your food. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which was delicious. The sauce was tangy and spicy and they serve extra on the side. And it was huge! At least for me. I also ordered the side of smoked beans. Stand up amazing yummy. Husband ordered the Cuban sandwich. I tried it and it was really good, but not like a true Miami Cuban -- pulled pork with pickles and etc. But it was delish. He also ordered the smoked mac and cheese side but I think it was made with Velvetta - not great, but if you like that type of mac & cheese it was good (my grandma used to make it that way and I sort of kind of like it sometimes). So we are visiting Wyoming and this joint sounded like a good place to eat. I saw on their yelp page that they have smoked Prime Rib. My dad and I were excited that we can have Prime Rib and ordered the special. It said it was the special of the day. When we got our order it was sandwiches. Looked like Roast Beef sandwiches with au jus dip. I said we ordered Prime Rib and they said it is, they don't serve actual prime rib until the weekend. Well it would have been nice to know that.
