    Thai tea

I don't know if it's the concept or the execution that I'm not a huge fan of. I can with my friends so we ordered three total. Fortunately we weren't in a hurry or behind anyone else. It's a lot of razzle dazzle which makes for a really inefficient process. I will admit that my 3D perception is not the best. However when you compare the volume of the start and the finish it looks like they are just incorporating a lot of air in the ice cream. Pretty unanerican but it leads to very even flavor distribution. I guess the notes of the ice cream while visually attractive get turned down. I contemplated getting a bubble tea but after watching them make the ice cream I kind of am glad I didn't. I'd still be there. It is a coarse comparison but it reminds me of a certain frozen earthen surface franchise. I choose the aforementioned. The cost is a bit heavy too. I get that I'm paying for the razzle dazzle but I'll keep the extra buck to potentially have the bell rung. Glad I tried probably would not try again on my dime. Good service and showmanship though.

I thought this was a typical ice cream store - but nooo! It was great seeing your ice cream made for you. They pour the ice cream liquid base on a very cold surface. They push it around until it freezes. Then magically, they scrape it into rolls and neatly put it in a cup. I think the rolling adds to the unique texture and flavor. Unlimited topping - must try the toasted marshmallow! The banana cream pie ice cream is so good! There is a wait time for custom made ice cream and expect long experience if more than 4-5 people in front of you. But we walked right in with no wait.

This is an amazing rolled ice cream experience identical to other Vietnamese rolled ice cream traditional places. It's not meant to be fast, it's hand rolled, made fresh in front of you. You can't rush it so if you don't have time just go to a grocery store and pick up your standard ice cream tub. This is only for the Vietnamese ice cream lover. They threw in Bobba as options, but just go with the rose explosion with strawberries.

Came with three toppings and syrup of their choice! They toast marshmallows too?

Great place to take the fam and have a cool dessert. It's unique and new. I've taken the family to places like this in So Cal, and it's nice to find one closer to home without driving out to the east side.

Lots of good flavor options for rolled ice cream. You get to choose your toppings, as well. I got the Honey Bee which is lavender ice cream with honey. I couldn't decide on a topping so the guy at the counter suggested coconut flakes and a chocolate wafer. Great suggestions! The ice cream and the popping soda that my husband got were both delicious. Overall, I really enjoyed it! Can't wait to go back.

Lots of delicious flavors. You choose either regular size or kids. The regular size comes with 3 topping and 1 sauce which is nice. It wasnt that busy inside and there were 2 employees making the ice cream. It took about 10min to get out ice cream. I can only imagine how long the wait will be once it gets hotter. They only have 3 ice cream stations. Won't stop us from going though. Oh, and they also have milk teas! Ok. That's it.

Lots of different flavors. Some of the toppings were very stale. Other than the toppings, service and the ice cream was great.

We were seated quickly -- it was a nice day, so we sat in their lovely outdoor dining area. They brought us room temperature waters (not a fan), and took our drink orders rather quickly. Service was good throughout our visit. I ordered the IPA Bacon Cheeseburger, which came (over)loaded with lots of fresh vegetables, a large burger patty, and the IPA mustard sauce. I don't want to complain about a burger being piled high with bacon, pickles, and fresh onions, lettuce, & tomatoes; but it was difficult to eat. While the Challah bun was delicious, it was woefully undersized for the task of holding it all together. I enjoyed it, but felt the IPA sauce was lost in the midst of everything else, and I also thought the burger patty was under-seasoned. I ordered fries as a side, and unfortunately they were the "battered" variety, which I just don't enjoy. Restaurants -- please, just serve normal French fries, without any batter on them! We knew from past experience that baked goods and desserts are really what La Provence is good at, so we ordered Tiramisu for dessert. Their very non-traditional take on this Italian classic would probably some people uneasy, but it was delicious. It had a dense chocolate cake base, with a thick layer of mascarpone mousse on top of that, then a topping of thin, crunchy, chocolate hazelnut ganache. Not too sweet, with a variety of textures to enjoy. We would definitely come back again, but I'd get something other than burger and fries.

The plain croissant was unfortunately a miss for me--but the bacon & egg papillon was OMG delicious... so much so that I ended up buying three. No regrets!!! The Versaille, Tiramisu, and Marionberry cheesecake were all delish and absolutely worth trying. We also tried the beignet rocher, marionberry cheese croissant, everything-but-the-bagel croissant, peach papillon, and the kouign amann apple--so many fun options, and overall a great stop if you love pastries and want variety. Service was a little hit-or-miss. The first time I visited, the server seemed a bit grumpy - especially while I was placing a larger order, but on my return visit, a different server was noticeably friendlier... maybe because my order was a little smaller

To be honest, when our plans to go bowling and have lunch at Big Al's today fell through because…read morethey didn't open till 3, but we still wanted to eat (and hadn't had breakfast yet at 1:30), I tried every option I could think of to not go to Bannings. When we moved to Oregon, it was under construction but we kept hearing how good it was - in fact, all the local FB pages would gush about it when a newcomer would ask about the best restaurant. And once it finally opened, we tried it, but it was kind of like Marie calendars and Shari's, but local. Ok, but not what we had expected for all the hype. So, after trying a handful of options it seemed Bannings was the only place we could still get breakfast so I begrudgingly agreed. Well, I was mistaken! I got the breakfast enchiladas and a strawberry orange mimosa. Now, the mimosa - I'll get that out of the way first. It was weird - it looked curdled. It just had mashed strawberry at the bottom and it actually was quite good. I'd do a normal mimosa in the future, but good. But the enchiladas - delicious. Like, I'll come back again and again for those. And they didn't charge me extra for the avocado, which I think is righteous because I asked for no hash browns. But not all places would do that, they'd nickel and dime even if you passed on one side for another. Additionally; my husband likes a savory breakfast and a sweet one too - so he often gets two breakfasts and though he may not eat all of both he gets that savory and sweet. Well, the omelettes come with 3 pancakes. Perfection. And, I took 3 bites of them - I usually might try 1 or not at all - they are very very good. Last - it did not break the bank. I've about ruled out breakfast out because of how crazy expensive the places that should be reasonable are. This was reasonable - PLEASE DONT CHANGE!! All in all 5 stars, will be back for breakfast; and hey - when I'm wrong I can admit I was wrong! Give them a try if you haven't!

The last couple times I've visited Portland, my local friend has dragged me along here, and it has been quite satisfying each time. Nothing terribly fancy or nuanced about this joint. Just good food in a family-style diner kind of atmosphere. The Belgian Waffle is always a good choice, in my book. But they have plenty of breakfast scrambles and platters, too. And the burgers here are pretty darn good. But if you are at all in the mood, definitely try their pies. You see them right by the door, tempting you as soon as you walk in. And while my friend can vouch how their Pumpkin Pie is legendary (especially around the autumn holidays), I can say with certainty you want to try their Key Lime Pie! Prices are pretty decent for the portions you get. And service is generally very friendly and prompt, though they can get a little backed up on weekend mornings. Parking is also typically easy. And if the weather is nice, I would recommend taking a seat out on the patio. So yeah, nothing fancy, which is sometimes what you really need. This has become one of our most frequented breakfast stops when visiting PDX, and I can definitely forsee returning.
