I also had an encounter with one of the guest, where they were kind of acting a little weird. I mad a sign to him and he walked my mom and I to my elevator. He was amazing!!! Front desk was so helpful very informative. We also bought something that we needed a small screw driver to open and they actually had one! Wow talk about customer service being on point!!! I was especially impressed with how clean the property was and every staff member was ever friendly. Of course I especially look at the room and it was PERFECT!!!!!! Fantastic location! When we asked for an ice bucket, an incredible Lulu droid delivered it to us! I was totally not expecting it and we immediately fell in love with her!!! The hotel deserves 5 stars just for that wonderful surprise alone!!! The staff were polite and friendly. They were never too busy to answer questions and were always willing to help us with anything we needed. They get an A+! The room itself was spacious and comfortable. The bed and pillows were among the best I ever slept on. I truly appreciated the little kettle, microwave and mini fridge in the room. So convenient and easy to use. I like taking my own food to hotels, so this was excellent for me. I also enjoyed the breakfast they serve (I recommend pre purchasing the vouchers). One morning I got the pancakes and the next morning I got the French toast, both were delicious! But I do regret not trying some of the food they offer over room service. It looked incredible. My only complaints (which are minimal) are: 1) I thought the parking lot was too dark at night and I was afraid to get stuff out of the car, it was safe, but I would have appreciated more light, 2) there were no drawers to unpack our clothes into (I just hanged my shirts and pants in the closet and left my underwear in suitcase) and 3) the lock on the restroom door didn't work and just kept spinning, also the door had an opaque window on it. I would have preferred a solid door with a lock that worked. Nothing too major, I still had a great time at the Lulu and will definitely be returning for my Disney trips, even if it's just for one night. The location is super convenient and the hotel and staff are great!

Having been a member here for almost 20 years, I am a classic example of someone who refers to the…read moreclub as "home away from home." At one point in my life this was where I lived for a little over a year. And yes the club has rooms for lease on long term basis. It's easy to run into many famous icons that also called this place a home from time to time. If you read Warren Buffet's book, this was where Buffet met Munger and it definitely changed his life. Founded in 1888, the founders of city of Los Angeles created this club for their social network and permanent gathering. So details in services and presentation are always important here. To sum it up, it's difficult to even find employees at the club that work here for less than 10 years. The average time each employee spends here has to be over 30 years. What makes it incredible is that they tend to remember most members' names. If you have a chance to be invited to the club, it's essential to get a tour and experience the history here.

The reception dinner held on the outside patio that overlooks the city's skyline was impeccable. What an absolute treat! Service was beyond and everyone working the event was so on par, happy and very professional! If you have a rare and exceptional opportunity to stay at the Cal Club, don't even hesitate! It's 5 plus stars all around!

This was my first time staying at one of the three Disney hotels and while there are sooooo many…read morepositives there were a couple small annoyances that I think are worth mentioning as well. First the positive, the hotel itself has such a fun feel to it. The staff is really welcoming and you see little details of Pixar through every turn. The coffee shop was perfect for my mornings as I tend to get up before the rest of the family and love a nice coffee to warm me up. The convenience of walking to Downtown Disney was great! We loved spending our spare moments wondering around and I found so many more food options in this area. Food at hotel restaurant was kind of "meh" so having DD so close really helped. We also loved the monorail stop being so close but it seemed to often be closed which kind of made that perk not as accessible. Also loved how we could cut through the California Grand Hotel to get to California Adventure Park. -Now let's talk about the elevators which, in my opinion, weren't that bad at all! I had read so many reviews that I was legitimately scared! If used correctly the system works great. You simply push the button of the floor you want and wait by the elevator it tells you. Then hop on and enjoy the ride. The issue comes when people get tired of waiting so the continuously push their floor. This cause other elevators to also be programmed to that floor which can cause a lot of unwanted and pointless stops. I can see another flaw being if you have a wheelchair or stroller and are trying to go down to the lobby. If the elevator has too many people on it you will not be able to fit and would then have to wait and try your like again. -Ok, on your the small annoyances. The first one is the pool. While the side was great and the splash pad is nice for younger kids, the actual pool is just so small! Very surprising in sure a large and higher end hotel. Another thing is they don't offer poolside service. Not a big deal but would be a nice touch. Second is the rooms only have a shower so no bath tubs. For me this wasn't a big deal but I can see this being hard for families with young kids. Lastly, there is no room service at this hotel. After a long day at Disney we were enjoying a relaxing time I. The hotel and room service would have been really amazing. Again, I was surprised with a hotel that is a bit more higher end not offering any room service. -Overall I'd say this was a good place to stay. I would book again when they have a good deal going (we were able to stay for $1600 after tax and fees for 4 nights). I don't think I'd pay their normal rates as the small annoyances just don't make things worth that high price tag. Bonus Pro Tip- The small balconies over by the stairwells are a great place to catch the Disneyland fire show. So if you don't want to o go down to the pool deck just walk down your hallway and enjoy the show.

We booked for a wedding on a very short timeline for a smallish group, and top to bottom, we had an amazing experience. They made planning so easy, from our amazing point of contact/coordinator Emily answering every silly question I had, to the digital planning offerings so we could make our own floor plans for the team. The owner Summer was also highly responsive when we needed to touch base. Day of, everything was so streamlined that we hardly had to lift a finger beyond getting our decorations out of the building. The staff was on top of every element and they were all so sweet. On top of that, EVERY SINGLE one of our guests commented on how gorgeous the venue is, with some family members excited to find a place for their own events. We booked a buffet style dinner and added the lighting package, the coordinator upgrade, cake cutting, coffee service, soft drinks, and signature cocktails for a cash bar. First of all, the food is phenomenal. It's easy to dismiss any sort of banquet service, especially a buffet style, as something somewhat less than a gourmet meal, but not here. Not by a long shot. EVERYTHING is good, from the meats and sides down to the bread (at one point in the evening one of our guests had a plate of about 10 rolls, which was completely understandable.) My husband is a snob about meat, especially steak, and basically cried at our tasting with how incredible it was. We got great feedback from our guests both the day of and afterward about how great the meal was. The other really standout add on was the cocktails. It's another thing that every single guest (who imbibed) commented on, telling us not just how good they were but also how they loved trying "the groom" vs "the bride" drinks. The Charleston takes its alcohol seriously as a craft, with these drinks being the most truly *crafted* cocktails I've had in a while. It added an amazing element for our guests that they really noticed. From the "executing our vision" end of planning, the coordinator upgrade was *invaluable.* Emily handled all of our decor setup and strike, including packing things. I overplanned tablescapes, decor, and timelines, which made her job easy, but she's such a pro that she's usually the one to handle such things. (As an aside, she took my concept and ran with it in ways I didn't think of, and I was so thrilled with her execution. Emily, I adore you and your creative brilliance.) The other item we are so glad we added for our vision of the day was the lighting package. It was the thing that took a gorgeous ballroom reception into what felt like a bespoke event, from our spotlighted entrance to the lighting on the floor for our first dance. There IS an add on package that covered both of these line items and more, but because we wanted to choose some of our own vendors, we opted for only the individual items. I love who we hired, but for simplicity's sake, the larger package would probably be much easier for a couple looking for a "set it and forget it" style of wedding planning. We loved our experience with The Charleston and I'd book our special day there a million times over. The building is gorgeous and with a rich history, but beyond that, it's so welcoming--not just the people but the vibe there. For us, there was never any other venue for our wedding than The Charleston, and I'll tell everyone who will listen how much we loved it. I know yall read these reviews, so to the team directly: thank you for everything. It was the day we both always wanted, and you all made it special. We are infinitely grateful.

****Paranormal Tour Review Only****…read more My niece is very into spooky things so she wanted to check out the Paranormal Tour at the Queen Mary for her birthday and it was quite the experience. If you are not a hotel guest, and are only going for a tour, dining, or for the day, you have to park at the Pike Parking Garage, which at 65 Cedar Ave., Long Beach. The nice thing is that they have shuttles that will take you to the Queen Mary for free. We weren't sure where they picked us up, but there is a small parking office on the first floor of the structure, and they will direct you. This was my first time at the Queen Mary, and there is such a nice view of the downtown Long Beach, especially at nice. It's gorgeous for photos. Walking around the boat was such a cool experience too. We had to ask staff to help us find the meeting point for the tour, but they were prompt at 9 pm. The tour guide gives great instructions before hand and provides some insights for what the tour will look like. There is a lot of walking and stairs that you'll have to climb, but it's manageable. It may not be a good tour if you have mobility issues because some spaces are quite tight. She did a great job giving us warnings here and there where we could have the option to opt out of a particular area because of the change in operators or visibility. There are waiting areas before these spots, so if you're uncomfortable, there is an option to sit out for some rooms. There was definitely a creepy vibe in some spots, and the tour guide gave us some good history and background of the different areas of the boat. We did experience some spooky things. Lights flickered in some areas and there was one room where the file cabinet suddenly shut on its own with no one near it. It's a great tour, especially as we are approaching October. I definitely recommend and I will be back to check out the boat during the day.

Gabe, Lindsey, and Cami are so kind, helpful, organized, communicative, and on top of everything. We knew we were in good hands and, sure enough, the entire day ran seamlessly. One thing we especially loved was how well they accommodated our non-traditional timeline. The majority of our friends are dancers, so we made several timeline changes to maximize dancing and the overall party vibes. We had our 90 guests arrive directly into cocktail hour and kept everyone inside to explore the venue with drinks and small bites before opening the rooftop and having guests find their seats at their dinner tables. Since our ceremony was only about 15 minutes, we opted out of doing a room flip! We had our brief ceremony on the dance floor in front of the fountain, then released everyone to the dinner buffet while our immediate family joined us back inside for portraits. Afterward, we took our bride-and-groom portraits on the upper rooftop deck before returning to finish dinner. We had a couple of short toasts and then went straight into dancing. About an hour later, we opened up dessert inside in front of the gorgeous painting, then continued dancing until midnight. The Oviatt team helped make our day run so beautifully, and they worked seamlessly with our day-of coordinator and other vendors. We also chose one of their preferred caterers, California Cookout, which made coordination even easier. Having such a capable team gave us so much peace of mind and allowed us to actually relax and enjoy our wedding. The combination of a one-of-a-kind venue and a staff who truly cared about guests' experience allowed us to have a wedding that felt completely like us, and we would recommend The Oviatt in a heartbeat.

The space created an amazing atmosphere, and we are very grateful to have celebrated our wedding there. The only reason for not giving a full 5 stars was the level of communication and coordination throughout the process. Since a coordinator is included in the package price, we expected a bit more guidance and assistance during key moments of the wedding day. For example, things like organizing the processional for walking down the aisle and preparing the cake for cutting ended up being handled by family members or the bride and groom. It definitely was not something that ruined our experience, but it is something we feel future couples should be aware of when planning. We also noticed that during the last few hours of the reception, one of the staff members remained near the dance floor watching guests for an extended period of time, which felt a little uncomfortable. We completely understand the need to monitor timing and cleanup, especially since we were told the venue closed at 11 PM, but by that point all guests aside from the wedding party had already left. Despite those things, we still had a wonderful experience overall and would recommend this venue to couples looking for a truly stunning place to celebrate.
