I hired Junaid Construction Company for a backyard renovation which included the installation of…read morepavers on a 15x25 space, replacing my old fence with vinyl fencing 30x25, and installing retainer walls on two sides. I signed a contract with the company on April 9th, 2021, and put in a small deposit. The Project Manager informed me that the project would start on May 15th, 2021 and that it would take approximately 3-4 days of work.
I chose Junaid Construction Company because the Project Manager was friendly, quoted me a low price, and even though they did not have many reviews online I saw pictures of their previous work that looked great. I had previously looked around before hiring them and thought I was making an informed decision.
However, my experience with this company was overwhelmingly frustrating. The staff was friendly in the beginning but unfortunately, their craftsmanship, as well as their organization and professional skills, were severely lacking.
Here is a list of issues I ran into with this company:
1) On several occasions the Project Manager failed to bring samples despite previous conversations & pictures informing him of what I wanted (and which he assured me he could provide). When he did bring samples they were incorrect/not in stock.
2) On the first day of the project they showed up bright and early to get started (demolition) which was great, but then left early because they did not have the materials to continue the job.
3) Project Manager asked for a portion of the contract payment in order to obtain fence materials but was unable to do so and lost a day of work since the item was back-ordered.
4) Due to his inability to obtain paver samples on his own, I was forced to visit 2 masonry stores on my own in order to pick alternate pavers colors/shapes. Unfortunately, most pavers were sold out which could have been avoided if the Project Manager had ordered them in advance when I had signed the contract a month previously. I was forced to pick a color, shape, and size that was completely different from what was originally agreed on before hiring them.
5) There was a "miscommunication" regarding building materials for the retainer walls that the fence was being installed on. The Project Manager stated he had informed my husband (who was working remotely at home) of his intentions to install said cinder block wall while he had me out looking at paver samples instead of waiting for my return (less than 30 min trip). Despite asking Project Manger to explain all decisions to me upon my return in order to make a clear decision he failed to mention building materials when I followed up. He showed me incorrect picture samples leading me to believe he was installing a brick wall. The picture shown to me had brick walls while the walls he built for me were cinderblock. I gave him the benefit of the doubt.
6) I informed Project Manger that the crew was rushing and being sloppy with the cement lines/wall. I was told that I had to wait till the end of the project when "it would look much nicer". It did not. The cement job was sloppy and fence panels had gaps. Even some pavers were cut crooked.
7) Lastly, I paid an additional fee for them to set my gazebo legs in cement. I provided them with the manual yet they somehow placed all 6 legs in cement in the incorrect order preventing me from building the gazebo walls. I informed them of the issue and they were willing to redo the work, however, they installed the gazebo incorrectly a second time, which prevented me from building it again.
8) Lastly when I informed Project Manager a 2nd time that the Gazebo legs were installed incorrectly (they were installed far too close to each other which prevent me from installing the gazebo wall and even warped the roof shape) he informed me that I would have to wait for him to fix the issue in between his other jobs. That was frustrating, but I was willing to work around his schedule. That is until he repeatedly failed to show up (no call either) and I repeatedly had to outreach him to get answers.
When I confronted him about his lack of professionalism and the ridiculous amount of time it was taking him to fix his mistake he told me I should be grateful as he was "sacrificing his time w/ his kids" which is completely unprofessional and uncalled for. He never showed up to fix his mistakes and stopped responding to me. It is July 1st and the issue was not fixed. At this point, I am fed up with his excuses.
My mother-in-law, who resides on the second portion of the property, also hired them for a separate project and was also unsatisfied with their work but since I was not present I cannot speak for her.
If you are considering hiring this company know that it will be more of a headache than it is worth and your project will not look like you are envisioning. They will take your money and do a poor job/never finish. I will be filing a complaint with this company and hope no one else has to go through this
