1Watson is the new hotspot in San Antonio and the bartender, Andrew, made some great Old Fashioned. He tried to make sure everyone at the bar top was having a great time. The atmosphere was relaxed inside and the crowd was dressed in their best attire. It's a nice upscale lounge where you can get cocktails made just right. Outside on the rooftop was a tad bit cold but luckily the lounge had plenty of seating areas near their elongated fireplace. I highly recommend making a reservation before you go or else you may be waiting awhile just to get in the exclusive elevator that takes you to the rooftop. read more

He looks around looking for a table like restaurants do that don't take reservations. I told him that we'd like to sit outside and we're perfectly happy waiting since our conversation was TEAin'. After 30 minutes we are finally seated. The view is on point with the exception of everyone trying to get around you to take that perfect instagram pic. Reviewing it and then the retake different pose, review retake. You guys know the deal. Eye roll. BUT so far not bad. We order a drink (horrible choices) unless you're one of those hoodrats that thinks casa migos is top shelf or that the taller and more colorful the bottle the better it tastes. Barf emoji (We ARE downtown) anyway... we order, appetizer was corn on the cob with mayo and tajin elaborately called eloté Some sprouts. If I'm being honest I thought of churches chicken. But what ever. Our server really tried, she was sweet, had a decent conversation on her, but it is as organized as that top drawer in your kitchen. Ok we move on...Can't ruin my day. Start eating and the food is not good. It's decorative like nice picture but not good. I immediately thought nah not worth the diarrhea that makes you tippy toe. My wife had the chicken and waffles. You know when chicken is cooked and it makes a strange rubber texture? Yeah. It was that. I'd imagine it's what chewing on a condom feels like. To start they had a literal DJ which played music that was so loud we couldn't hear each other, and he was rude to us, one of the only tables there. Second our waitress seemed to just disappear for no reason and we wouldn't see her for what seemed like half an hour only for her to seem rushed. We didn't get food on the table until 12:30pm and when they brought it up half of our party had their dishes. This top floor restaurant/bar with a view is tucked away in a side entrance with one way in. So if you are not paying attention you will walk right by the hostess and elevator to get there. The bottom floor hostess and top floor hostess don't seem to be in sync. She called upstairs to someone to let them know I was there for my reservation, but when we arrived there only to be greeted all over again and asked what my name was? Confused? Yeah. Me too. We were the only ones in the elevator by the way. When we sat down, we were greeted by our very pleasant and attentive server Mariana!! She answered all our questions and to my delight brought a surprise refreshing drink!! My wife and I shared a salad which was pretty tasty Menu was limited though for that particular time of the day. Ambiance was very subtle and just somewhere to relax and enjoy the view. Not outside though because it was just too hot!! We had a very bad experience at the Watson. We had a friend coming from California to invite him to the riverwalk and we wanted to invite him to know the beautiful San Antonio. We ordered drinks and my husband reported that someone threw up in the bathroom and the security guard came to us to let us know that we needed to leave the place because he "thought" my husband was the one who threw up. Small but the food is great so definitely recommend if you want to come have some small bites or just hang out and have some drinks with some friends or coworkers they have a great drink menu and cocktails. The service was pretty quick and the servers were very nice. Definitely recommend and would be a place I would come back to with friends and invite them out. Beautiful rooftop bar located in the heart of downtown. I highly suggest reservations because according to the hostess they book up quick and only open half of their dining area to open seating. My friends hosted a galentines dinner here & we just loved the vibe, scenery, and drinks especially! (I didn't order any speciality drinks, just cider because the drinks were just wayyy too much to justify. Friends who ordered them agreed). The food was good but sadly wasn't great (especially for the price). If you're thinking of getting the street corn skillet, just skip it trust me. It's not anything close to a dip. Just loose corn with a bit of toppings which is impossible to dip any chips into. The brisket tacos were delicious but if there was just 1 more in the order it'd make the price a bit more worth it! 4 stars for view and ambience only at this point. Very cool rooftop bar. Need reservations or you can sit at the bar but there won't be any seats. For the record, there were open tables everywhere, but they were "reserved". We did not get served while we were there, so can't comment on food or drink cost/quality. Service sucked, but we didn't have a seat. You could stand around the perimeter of the patio, which has a great view, but we prefer seating. Gross alert! We sat at the bar and watched ALL the bartenders dip their bare hands into ALL the condiment containers to make their drinks.
