Very tired old place, not terribly clean bathroom, dark room with floors that visibly slope, no tissues in the room, bathroom door couldn't open all the way due to the size of the room, carpets and bathroom floor were particularly bad. Was really hoping this would be a charming old place, instead I'd say it's in need of updating. Breakfast was a $10 voucher per person and purchased an entirely adequate meal in their dining facility. Staff was very friendly. read more

We were staying at the Inn and decided to try their dinner, as we had enjoyed breakfast. The Terrace Inn Salad was good, and I loved the cherry vinaigrette. But the planked whitefish was stunning! The piped garlic mashed potatoes formed a frame for the parmesan-covered whitefish, and a nest for the grilled tomato, and it was delicious. The presentation for each dish was amazing, but especially for the fish, which came out with the hot plank on a leather mat. My husband dislikes fish, but I persuaded him to try a bite, and he said if all fish tasted like this he would love it. He ate several more bites as the meal progressed. His bacon wrapped filet with fingering potatoes was delicious, as well, and we passed on dessert--my fish was a huge portion that I couldn't finish even with his help--but the menu descriptions sounded amazing. Every person who served us or interacted with us in any way was friendly, helpful, and happy. An extra star for superb customer relationships. read more

Quaint Inn in a private community in the heart of Petoskey. I found it to be a nice blend between the social interaction of a Bed and Breakfast when hanging out in the parlour by the fireplace and the privacy of a hotel room with a private bath. Food is absolutely delicious! Best meal I've had in my life and I'm not saying that lightly. This is a charming place to stay and is the exact opposite of a high rise hotel in Chicago, so be prepared to relax in Northern Michigan, where it is absolutely gorgeous and the staff work very hard! Five stars all the way and if you see anything less, it's city folk that only know how to cause problems and complain. I would highly recommend you stay and enjoy the food and atmosphere and RELAX! read more

We have stayed at the Terrace Inn a few times and I must say I really enjoy each visit. It has gotten much better than my first time there with an ice cream shop as part of the Inn. Kids would love this place--though you have to be careful of finding the right size room for family. I feel very relaxed at this Inn and walk into Petoskey every day along the Lake. Great location. My only complaint is that the breakfast could use a little variety and more protein options. read more

This Inn (along with the restaurant) is truly as good as it gets. We visit three or four times each year, driving nearly three hours to get there. It's a charming place, the rooms clean and nicely decorated by someone who cares about every detail. The staff is very accommodating, making us feel like our enjoyment and comfort is their number one priority. The food in the restaurant is great; we've never had anything we didn't find very tasty---and good prices. read more

A very delightful inn dating back 100 years. The Terrace Inn just drips with charm. Yo can find it right in the middle of one of the most lovely areas in Petoskey: Bay View. I urge all to vist the Terrace Inn, for dining OR for an overnight stay. You will be glad you did. read more

Saw their feature article and dessert recipe in the Fall issue of Michigan Home and Lifestyle. So, we met our cousins here for the weekend. Forgot about work as soon as I stepped out on the terrace. The Crab Cakes are truly the best on the planet. Service exceptional and the bed in our beautiful room was extremely comfortable. We'll most definitely be back. read more

I grew up in the Petoskey area but had never stayed at the Terrace before. They now have a full bar and a wonderful dining room with enough room to host a small venue concert etc.. Definitely the type of charm I expect from a 1911 house. read more

We have family in the area, and for the past 25 years we'd stay with my parents when we came up. Now that my parents have passed, we've had to find a hotel for our 4x per year family visits. Tried four or five of the usual hotel/motel options, and this last trip discovered the Terrace Inn. I can say with confidence we will never stay anywhere else ever again. It's technically a B&B (wonderful made-to-order breakfast is included) but with more than 30 rooms, it's really a hotel. However, it's the homiest hotel I've ever stayed in. Staff and owners are wonderful, great restaurant, comfortable sitting areas in the lobby with a fireplace and bar service. Great to come back in the evening (we stayed during a snowy weekend) and enjoy a whiskey and water by the fire in huge comfy leather chairs before heading off to bed. And the rates meet or beat the other soulless chain prices every time. What more could you ask for? This is now home away from home when we're up for family get-togethers, and the next best thing now that mom's is no longer an option (yes, staying here is that good). read more

My friend and I stayed at the Terrace Inn last week. It is a delightful place....very peaceful....comfortable room and great service. The food was very good and a very nice and complete buffet breakfast was included in the price of the room. Convenient to all the things I wanted to do....lovely bike path and great shopping. So many signs that this was going to be terrible yet we went anyway. We called to see if they could accommodate 4 adults and 3 kids for an 8 pm reservation. The woman who answered the phone was barely responsive. We showed up at 7:45. Looks of the place- not so great. The front desk woman barely responded as I asked where the restaurant was. One glance in the nearly empty restaurant and I thought we should run but we stayed anyway. We waited a long time for the waiter to show (Chance). Once he did we placed our drink orders, of course they were out of the beer two people ordered. Next when we finally ordered we found out that they were out of some of the entrees that were requested. Some of the food when it arrived was good. The plank whitefish was great and two people who ordered ribs said they were good. Frankly, at over $20 a person, this restaurant is not worth it. No one got a second drink, the food was spotty and over priced. The waiter couldn't handle the three tables that were occupied, and it was a disaster. I will not visit this place again. read more
