We came here over the summer with family and had a great afternoon! The tables were spread out far enough to feel safe due to COVID, but let me tell you every table was full! The wine flight was delicious and we loved the food they had to offer. My only reason it isn't getting 5 stars is because several times I had to ask for water and never received it. I wish they could have just given us a pitcher of water for our table and we could have refilled it. Otherwise it was a great place to breakout Monopoly Deal and enjoy some wine! read more

Not a fan of the wine or the experience. While the weather was beautiful and we were able to sit outside, the experience was lackluster. The person working did not share any information about the wines or make any suggestions. We circled a few choices and of the 5 we only thought one was even drinkable. Seemed like the employees couldn't care less if they had your business. In fact we almost left without paying because no one ever gave us a bill. read more

These wines were great- definitely among the best-tasting in this wine trail! At $10 per person it's still a little pricy compared to what I'm used to paying in the Traverse City area, but that's actually one of the cheaper prices in this area so I guess I can't complain too much. Truly enjoyed our tasting at Walloon Lake Winery. Great dry whites with some "new for us" varietals which are hybrids created for cold Northern climates. Excellent introduction to these from Taylor in the tasting room with newcomer/coworker diligently taking notes on all the questions which we had. The extra treats were meeting Marta, her husband, Tim and their daughter, the owners of the winery. We enjoyed glasses of the dry Riesling on the shaded front porch. Beautiful setting and great service. My husband and I frequently wine taste in CA and OR so I was intrigued by the idea of a Michigan winery. The wines whites were pretty sweet or very tart for my palate. I enjoyed the North Arm red and was very surprised that I really liked the sparking peach wine. Ambience was by far the best out of all the wineries we went to that day! The staff were really Engaging and definitely gave you that" part of the wine family " vibe for sure. Wine was pretty good. My husband and I visit this particular winery whenever we are in the area, and it never disappoints. This visit was different than the ones in the past, as it was during the covid pandemic. Since our last visit they have built a huge outdoor patio and that is where we had our tastings. Tables were spaced well apart from each other and masks were required. We found our table and Marta (Mrs. Owner) took our order. My husband and I split a flight and we chose all sweet wines. All of the wines were good, but the Boathouse was our favorite, once again. Our server (I cannot for the life of me remember her name, but was told that she is the owner's son-in-law's sister......her parents also live about mile from our home.....did you get all that?) was very friendly and helped make our experience a good one. The weather was great, so sitting outside was just fine, and felt much safer than being inside. You can rest assured that this is a good place to visit during this horrible pandemic. read more

Walloon Lake Winery was our 2nd stop on our tour of the Petoskey wine region of Michigan. We were greeted by Matt who explained the difficulties of growing grapes in such a harsh climate. The charge here was $6 for four tastings which I thought was reasonable for the area. Our tastings were of a decent portion so that we could actually get an appreciation for the aroma and flavor of the fruit. Recommended. read more

We were apprehensive to include a red in our tasting as we are white wine lovers. The owner insisted she added this as an extra tasting on us. We will be back before we leave. The wines are pricier if you're looking to buy any. I'm used to wine being around 13/17 dollars a bottle, these were a bit more. But I think the quality is better so that's why they're asking more. We visited the Walloon Lake Winery while staying at a local AirBnB. The owner of the AirBnB left us vouchers for free samples so we decided to give it a try. The weather did not allow for much exploration outside but the tasting room was very nice. The staff were very friendly and engaging and the pours were quite generous for a free tasting. Overall we enjoyed both the wine and the staff and would gladly re-visit again. read more

Almost passed this one by. Glad we made the stop. One of the best wineries in the area. We had a great tasting with our group and made several purchases of wine. The building is very interesting and was made by owners. We have white, red, and sweet fruit wine drinkers in the group and we all found something we enjoyed. I visited the winery with a group of women for my sister's bachelorette party last weekend. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the great views of the vineyard; it was a great place to relax and chat with each other. The wine was amazing and our server, Connor, was great. Not much to look at in the wine tasting room, however the new building that is close to complete looks gorgeous AND no joke, of all the wineries we have been to in the area including much larger more aesthetic wineries, this one had THE BEST wines that we have had. There wasn't a single one that my husband and I didn't like and the service was great. The person serving the wine was also the person making the wine and he knew everything about them. We left happy with two bottles and we will definitely be back the next time we are in the area. Give it a shot , you won't be disappointed. read more
