She scoped out multiple locations in Petoskey, at different points in the day to determine where and when each picture would turn out the best. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and eye for the perfect shot make her the perfect wedding photographer. We could not be happier and would absolutely use her again! Beware of the price!!!!!!!…read more I contacted Ethnic Garden Catering to prepare food for a bridal party of 10 women as they were having their hair and nails done. When we spoke on the phone, I was impressed with Peggy's ideas for a simple grazing meal of lettuce wraps, Caprese skewers, fruit and dip, brie in bite sized phylo cups, open faced pork tenderloin sliders, and shortbread cookies. I asked her the price and she said, "It will be about $100 or so, plus $25 per hour service fee." I thought the final bill would be about $200, or $20 per person, which seemed about right for a light grazing meal. The food was all delicious - no doubt. Peggy set up and cleaned up and was with us for about two hours. Imagine my surprise when Peggy handed me a bill for $1185.00. That's right - - - one thousand one hundred and eight five dollars for a light snack for 10 girls. I thought she made a mistake and asked her about it. She said the cost was $100 PER PERSON. I am very certain she never said this on the phone, and I would never have used her if I knew that were the price. My mistake was not insisting on getting her bid in writing. While the food was tasty, the whole experience was ruined because of he unreasonable price.

When my sister (her mom) hired Chef George and His Team at Abundance Catering, she said they were "The Best Caterers in Leelanau County." I was still doubtful. But that's because I'm a doubtful kind of guy. My doubts were erased on the day of the wedding. Abundance was amazing: professional, calm, clean, clear. The food was absolutely incredible. When we asked for applause for the chef, the audience shouted "YUM!" (That seriously happened.) The Pineapple Bacon Appetizer is so good I want to have sex with it - or in it - or both. The food was pure and specific - so healthy. The vegetarian option was REALLY good and I am not a big fan of veggie options, being a meat kind of guy. And yeah - the barbecue was incredible. If you go on The Knot, you will find lots of grand reviews. I will review there, too. Most say the following: "Best wedding food I've ever had." This sounds like hyperbole - it's not. It's seriously the best wedding food I've ever had. These are really good people - professionals that take pride in what they do. I would hire them in an instant - and plan to for my upcoming 60th birthday celebration. Huge kudos. Hire them immediately.

I really wanted to like this hotel. The room itself was very nice, and we specifically chose this…read moreproperty because it presented itself as a boutique hotel experience. Unfortunately, what happened during our stay--and the way it was handled afterward--completely changed my opinion. Our room had a significant fruit fly problem. This wasn't one or two flies that we happened to notice. They were throughout the room, landing around our belongings and water bottles, and when we woke up in the morning there were so many that they were around our faces. I took pictures because I couldn't believe the number of them in a hotel room. We had been traveling through Michigan for the week and stayed at multiple other properties without experiencing anything remotely similar. We also travel to Northern Michigan regularly, so when management explained that there is a short period each year when fruit flies can be particularly prevalent in the area, I understood the explanation--but it didn't explain why this was the only hotel room where we encountered them at this level. I brought the issue to management's attention and gave the hotel an opportunity to make it right. I was initially offered a 15% refund. I explained why I didn't believe that was an appropriate resolution, and management took my concerns back to the owners for further review. I was ultimately told that the owners had decided the 15% refund would remain their final resolution and that nothing additional would be offered. I declined the 15%. I've worked in hospitality for 25 years, and what disappoints me most isn't simply that the room had a problem. Problems happen in hotels, restaurants, and every other hospitality business. What defines a hospitality organization is how it responds when something goes wrong. For a property positioning itself as a boutique hotel, I expected considerably more care in both the condition of the room and the response afterward. Being awakened with fruit flies around us is not an experience I consider acceptable, regardless of the season. I'll include my photos with this review so people can see what we experienced and make their own judgment. I don't enjoy leaving reviews like this, and I gave the property an opportunity to address the situation privately before posting publicly. Unfortunately, after the owners determined that 15% was their final resolution, I felt it was important to share an honest account of our experience. The room had a lot of potential. The hospitality surrounding the problem did not.

IF YOU ARE NOT A MEMBER FIND ANOTHER COURSE…read more First off, the course is underwhelming when comparing it to any Boyne owned courses. Second, the staff is unbelievably rude to non members. They don't want non members to golf there, they just want your money. We were golfing a 9 hole scramble with a group of 4 and a group of 3. The course staff told us to tee off the back 9, but be aware of some twosomes coming up behind us (obviously not a problem). They did not catch us until the 8th hole, and we let them pass. The course martial came out on a golf cart after the 8th hole and told us that we were "making this very difficult for him" and that "he will be having to deal with calls from members complaining about this". We competed 9 holes in 2 hours so by no means were we going slow. We get back to the clubhouse and the golf manager came out to tell us that we are not welcome back. They want one time golf fees from non members, but do not want us to actually golf there. The reality is they can't stay open if they don't keep it open to non members, but will complain about them instead the entire time they are golfing. We won't be back. If you are looking for a good place to golf, I recommend going to Crooked Tree, or another Boyne owned course. The courses are better and the staff is much friendlier.
