Since the place I wanted to eat was only doing carryout on a Saturday , I needed something new in a jam. I happened to find this quaint joint in the Rocks. The action around the restaurant is interesting but the food & service was fabulous. To start the eggplant appetizer with the homemade tomato marinara was amazing. 4 big pieces on a dish just tickling my taste buds. Oil and bread to accompany it with a salad having mixed greens & some head lettuce. For my entree I had chicken Parmigiano and it comes with pasta which was enough for a meal itself. I took plenty of leftovers home for tomorrow's lunch. The pricing is more like 3 stars than 2 but well worth it for the authenticity and portions. Yum

Fantastic food that the pictures speak for themselves! I enjoyed this place and will be back many more times.

1905 is one of those restaurants that offers good food and friendly service. On our recent visit I had the Crab ravioli with some veggies; think it was a daily special. While I enjoyed the ravioli it seemed to just be OK, I guess I was expecting more flavor. The meal came with a tossed salad and some fresh bread. 1905 is small and noisy. There was a table of 12 that was very noisy.

I have been hearing good things about 1905 Eatery so I met a friend there for lunch today. We ordered the appetizer "fried provolone". I am a huge fan of the fried provolone and often order this appetizer when I go out to eat so I expected the typical wheel or stick shape... but folks what I didn't realize is that I was about the eat the best fried provolone in town!! I am so glad I ordered it. It was bursting with flavor ...it was like real homemade fried provolone. Accompanied with a side of their sauce .. our taste buds were singing! We both ordered a house salad with our meals and had the homemade dressing (oil and vinegar or Italian not sure) but it was good. The ingredients in the salad were fresh.   My friend ordered the cap egg and cheese sandwich and told me that it became more delicious with each bite. The sandwich was oozing with fresh ingredients and had a nice aroma.   I had the lasagna and it was good. Plenty of flavor and it wasn't all cheese. The service is a little on the slow side since there is only one waitress working. I wouldn't expect to be in and out. BYOB- fun to bring your own bottle of wine.

Over all pricey for that neighborhood but in line for the food. The service was personable and accommodating. My comments were relayed to the kitchen and acknowledged. Why only 3 stars you may ask well the beans and greens had the bitter taste of using too much of the water used to boil the chard. The tripe was chewy and the lobster ravioli was salty in spots like the cook was saying my tripe is chewy f.u. have extra salt. Next time I will try the muscles maybe.

When I first contacted him he replied almost immediately and set up a time to talk with me about our preferences, dietary restrictions and overall food vibes. He sent me a menu within a day and welcomed feedback. Tonight we sat at the bar where we were able to see into the open kitchen and Chef Anthony walked us through every dish (both ours and those of other diners). Everything was delicious and with the exception of the cannoli shell, made from scratch, in house. Portions were huge for an almost 8 course meal and the pacing was great. The other staff were wonderful and beyond the flavorful food, the pricing is very reasonable. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. He also recently lost his sous chef due to him being in a really unfortunate accident. So if anyone knows someone looking for work... he's hiring.

I'll post a photo of the menu, but here are some of my thoughts: Turkey - so delicious Mashed potatoes - perfection Stuffing - I loved it but the kids didn't. Honestly they probably would have preferred Stove Top though. Green beans - very tasty but not great as a leftover Cranberry chutney - ok, I love the canned stuff but this was truly a hit. Rolls and butter - literally such delicious butter! Apple pies - they were more like empanadas. I was expecting mini round pies. The crust was amazing but the apples were a bit tart. The pickup was easy and seamless. Everything was packed well. Thank you! We can't wait to come in to eat soon.

We arrived at 5:30 and were quoted a 45-minute wait (possibly less). We stood outside for over an hour. During that time, we watched multiple parties who arrived after us get seated ahead of us--including a two-top seated immediately after we were told we were "next." When we questioned it, staff were defensive and claimed some guests "live nearby," put their names in earlier, and leave to wait for a text. That was never explained on the phone or upon arrival. From what we directly observed, the seating process did not appear first-come, first-served. It appeared selective. Transparency matters, and so does basic courtesy when guests ask legitimate questions. Ten minutes after we finally left--after waiting over an hour--we were told our table was ready. By then, the issue was no longer the wait, but the clear lack of organization and professionalism. We will not be returning.

Wheeling seemed to be somewhere in the vicinity of our drive to Morgantown tomorrow so I decided to stay the night. Looking for a place for dinner, I stumbled upon this place on Yelp in wheeling. Little did I know what an iconic place this is. We arrived at 5:15 on a Wednesday evening bc we are getting old. A couple leaving at 5:15 made us see our future. We were fortunately seated immediately. The inside is SO CUTE. I can't get enough of it. It felt like such an authentic Italian experience. Our server was incredible. So nice, personable, helpful. We started with our beverage orders. I went with a little something off their cocktail menu the elderflower martini which, exactly as I expected, was way more like spiked juice than a "martini" but I wouldn't want it any other way. Don't think I wasn't intrigued by the fried cheese but we have been eating a fair amount of that lately so instead of offering an app, I opted for an entree (stuffed rigatoni) and a side of broccoli. GF ordered fettuccine with red clam sauce. She got a house salad and I didn't for some reason. The broccoli was seasoned wonderfully but the texture wasn't as crisp as I would have liked. The rigatoni and the house sauce was ORGASMIC. That sauce is incredible I would gladly buy it by the jar. The rigatoni were al dente pillows of creamy ricotta heaven. Spectacular. GF regarding her red clam sauce pasta, "delicious". We also ordered the tiramisu to go so stay tuned on that.

We arrived and thought maybe we are a little underdressed for this place. So we asked for outside seating. There was a couple with a kiddo out there it was quiet and not as cold as inside. Very nice. Drinks? Asked the waitress "do you have sweet and is it good!?" "Oh yes!" She replied. Me and my grandson agreed on sweetea. She brought it out and it was quite weak and had an odd taste. Yuh, they don't have filtered water. So it's WV chlorinated. We ordered an appetizer and it came quickly. 2 Ribeyes medium and medium rare. And a cod filet. The cod came out 45 min before the steaks. We kept being told by the waitress and owner I'm guessing "just a few more minutes!" An hour after sitting down maybe longer two well don't steaks were sat infront of hubby and grandson. Absolutely not! We were going to suck it up but it wasn't cheap. So the guy said he'd take and replace the steaks. 30 ish min later the steaks came out still overdone. They gave us no discounts brought out an entire other full serving of food. Over 2 1/2 hours total. We were going to serve the overcooked meet to our dogs and they wouldn't even eat the meat or the bone. Apparently this place is popular with the locals but our experience was extremely poor.

3.5 stars. Long, detailed review... Arlecchino Ristorante is a casual-elegant Italian restaurant…read morethat is uniquely inside a one-room schoolhouse that was built in 1907. This restaurant is open for dinner and catering for dining in and takeout. It has many of the same menu items as its excellent sister restaurant Alla Famiglia. Each meal includes bread and oil, optional appetizers (e.g., meatball and mussels diavolo), a first course of salad and pasta, the chosen main course (e.g., chicken marsala, cacciatore, veal chop, and filet mignon), and then if desired dessert. Alcoholic beverages (e.g., cocktails, wines, and beers) are also available. For my husband's and my wedding anniversary, I made a reservation for Arlecchino through OpenTable. We arrived shortly after they opened for the day. Our first impressions: Valet was required for our vehicle. We felt interested in seeing the exterior and remodeled interior of the schoolhouse. Most of the restaurant was empty then, but the seating hostess took us to the worst table--the smallest table inches from the front door. I requested a different table, and she then gave us a much better one. OpenTable had said that the dress code was business casual, but other customers wore casual clothes, and a hostess wore shorts and a baggy sweatshirt hoodie. Our names were written on a chalkboard above the kitchen and on my menu but not my husband's menu. Our waiter provided timely service and spoke courteously with us. (If you are wondering how to pronounce the restaurant's name, he told me something like are-lee-kee-no or our-lee-key-no.) Here are my ratings for what my husband and I ate: Autumn Spritz - 4 stars - This spritz contained apple cider, Marie Brizard Apry, prosecco, and soda, and I liked its flavors. Smoked Provolone - 2 stars - Smoked provolone was topped with black truffles and arugula. Neither my husband nor I liked this appetizer. I took two bites, and he tried to eat half. Casa Salad - 4.5 stars - This salad consisted of mixed greens, roasted peppers, raisins, walnuts, olives, gorgonzola, and slightly too much vinaigrette. Caesar Salad - 4.5 stars - My husband ate this salad, and he said that it was his favorite food in the entire meal. Cavatappi Alla Vodka - 4 stars - My husband ate this pasta, and I took one bite, and I thought that it tasted good. Cacio E Pepe - 4 stars - Months ago at Alla Famiglia, we loved the locatelli romano cheese wheel at the tableside, so we felt excited to try it at Arlecchino. The waiter definitely mixed the linguini, cream, oil, and pepper in the cheese wheel. This cacio e pepe tasted good but not as great as what we remember from Alla Famiglia. Halibut - 3.5 stars - My main course was this special menu item. The halibut tasted bland but was served with black-tiger shrimp, carrots, tomatoes, zucchini, cauliflower, and butternut squash that added some nice flavors. I did not know the price for this fish until I saw the bill, and it was $72. Veal monzu - 4 stars - The veal was nicely breaded and fried and topped with mozzarella, jumbo lump blue crab, pine nuts, and lemon butter. My husband ate it, and my one taste-test bite indicated that it was flavorful. My husband was not interested in trying dessert, so we skipped it. Our total bill was $178 plus tax, tip, and a credit-card surcharge. Comparatively, I think that Alla Famiglia has significantly better food, but Arlecchino is worth a try.
