I try to support small businesses and local businesses as much as possible. They tend to have the type of products you want to talk about the most. This place was just like that. We were passing through Bishop and decided to stop for dinner. This is a small town but it has lots to chose from. We decided to give 1903 Taphouse a try as the menu looked interesting. When you first walk in, it looks like you walked into a neighborhood bar and there is also a room on the side for larger parties. The person who worked there was super friendly and helpful, made us feel like we were in his house instead of a restaurant. At his recommendation for customer favorites, my wife chose the Spicy Line and Main and I had the smoked brisket sandwich. Both came out in about 5 minutes. My sandwich was very tasty and had lots of flavor. The Spicy Line and Main was just that, a hot dog with the right amount of spice to make it taste good. This seemed to be a very popular local hang out as most people who walked in were greeted by everyone else there. Definitely will be eating here again the next time we are passing through. read more

1903 Taphouse is just opening and already doing great. Their food is solid. We would definitely re-order the wings, tacos, and curly fries. The curly fries were killer. House cut, thick, well breaded and super tasty. Must order. The wings are also great. Not breaded, but well seasoned. Flavorful, juicy, and meaty. The mahi tacos have a great crema, julienned apple slaw, and cojita cheese that blends into savory bites of goodness. Bottom line is that 1903 is a locally owned business investing in themselves and the community to survive during a time when others are just rolling over. Their service was prompt and attentive and their food was good. The beer, or course, was plentiful and various. They've also got a full bar if you're in the mood for any other drinks. My husband and I were looking for a quick place to eat as we made our way back home from vacation- we stopped here and it was exactly what we were wanting- quick, easy, & delicious! The servers were super kind and friendly which made for a welcoming entrance and overall experience. I ordered the grilled cheese on sourdough with vegetable soup and WOW- it was way more delicious than I expected! It was just perfect for the stormy weather and comfort food. The soup was super hot (just the way I like it) and the grilled cheese was unmatched! Soooo bomb! My husband ordered the Brisket sandwich and he said it was super delicious! He's a big BBQ guy so for him to think so highly of any meat is always a great sign!! He said he would absolutely go back when we pass through again. Stopped here on our way to Gardnerville, NV for a family gathering. Our waitresses were very friendly, warm and welcoming. I ordered the grilled cheese which was a local favorite. A mix of cheddar and Jack cheese melted between two (very) buttery slices of grilled sourdough. Can't go wrong with that combo. Tasted the Distant beer which they had on tap. It was so refreshing! Unfortunately it's only sold locally in the Mammoth area, so if you're ever in town make sure to try Distant beer. Also tried the Coco Rico canned hard kombucha, also a tasty choice. Anytime I'm driving up the 395 through Bishop I'll be stopping at the 1903 Taphouse. read more

I would absolutely recommend this place for great food and drinks. It's also family friendly with a few video games and a pool table. The staff are extremely welcoming and I love the owner Theresa! Hidden gem ! On our way back home from Tahoe we stopped at this cool tap house with free arcade games, gourmet hotdogs, and the coolest owner I've ever met! The food here is super affordable and everything taste so comfortingly home made. The friendliness of the owner is what is gunna keep us coming back! Ignore all posted menus older than 1 year. It's under different management and the current menu is more limited. We had the brisket sandwich on a pretzel bun with Mac and cheese. We stopped by twice, once on the way to Mammoth Mt and again on the way back down. When we walked in the first time, the smell of freshly baked bread filled our noses and we knew this is the spot for lunch. We got the chilli dog and grilled cheese with brisket which were amazing. Melissa was our waitress and she was hilarious. We told her how much we loved the food and the chef, Theresa came out to greet us. We told them we'd be back in a few days. Good to our word, we came back and had the grilled cheese with brisket again and veggie soup and Chicago dog. Amazing. We gave Theresa a big hug and told her we'd see her next year. The menus in the pictures with the sliders, tacos, lobster roll, sandwiches is not the current menu. The correct/current menu is the one shown with an assortment of hot dogs, brisket, salads, etc. Sadly, their website isn't updated either. We tried this place based on the old menu and almost left when we realized they didn't have the variety we were hoping for. I'm so glad we stayed!! (Our cold beers were delivered faster than we could get out the door.) The service was excellent -- very welcoming and friendly. The warm brisket sandwich on a fresh bun was delicious. Their salads looked to be good sized, fresh and delicious as well. Prices weren't bad for the quality and portion (actually cheap compared to OC prices.) Many years ago this place was an old dark bar and that's not at all the case anymore! VERY clean, welcoming and even a family friendly dining area. We will definitely be back. read more

Stopped here to eat on our road trip and was surprisingly impressed for a tap house. The dogs were amazing! I created my own and loved every flavor of the dog. Food is awesome here...However, ordering process is unclear. Be careful when ordering the Build Your Own dog. Inquired about number of toppings allowed and there was no clear answer. No mention of it on the menu. While ordering, the server kept saying 'anything else?' Referring to the toppings. So the bill comes and there's an added fee of $1.25 for avocado. And, there's another fee for "On a Bun" for $0.50. Come on guys, you got a good thing going here. Great food, great ambiance. Don't ruin it with deceptive business practices. Probably worthy of a solid 5 stars if it weren't for the undocumented fees. read more
