So Thursday late afternoon , me and my friends after work decided to go here .. upon arrival no one greeted .. unpleasant service .. bartender was rude and not friendly .. engaged with her friends the other end of the bar .. no a/c working .. we ordered a pitcher of beer and 6 taco and a party nacho .. (I'll insert the pic ) Upon order made we were shocked to see the kitchen person calling 3 pcs taco into 6 .. and after argue he still stood his ground that what he is serving is 6 taco . .. it's not about loosing money . It's about customer satisfaction. Which I felt a unwelcome .. in simple words ( please place a tag out side your main door ) that we are racist and we don't welcome other communities. The new owners suck, there is a 30 minute security line to get into a bar that is half full, always playing whack music, they somehow run out of their signature cowboy vodka before the Saturday Mule Days Parade even starts. I love this place but it is deviously mismanaged. read more

This bar is TITS! My sister and I pulled into town a few minutes past noon (visiting for Mule days) and were specifically looking for a dive bar--they're our vibe. We strolled into Rusty's (we really have an eye for great bars) and were welcomed by a group of elderly men and a woman all grabbing drinks after a day of fishing (so cool). Despite our SoCal looking vibes, the bartender and folks inside were very nice. Cold drinks were served, conversations were shared, and shots were consumed. What more could you ask for? The staff was friendly and very welcoming. The service was excellent and you can tell that the staff wants you to come back. This place has a full bar, TV's, and games. They have an electronic dart board, shuffle board, pool table, and a foose ball table. They offer free WiFi and a touch tunes app for controlling the juke box. I'll be back! My husband and i walked into this saloon at 8pm on monday (MLK day) The championship game for college football game v was on the tv at this saloon. We approached the bar and waited to be greeted, but nothing!!! My husband went to the bathroom and i stood at the bar waiting for someone to ask what we would like to drink? NOTH I NG. there was a young girl on her computer at the end ofb the bar, and i assumed she was the bartender. I sat at the bar still waiting to get asked about a drink and looked over at that girl on her computer and still nothing. She was conversing with a customer sitting along the bar by her. Once my husband came out of the bathroom he looked at me wondering why i hadn't ordered a drink. Finslly my husband looked at the girl on the computer and asked if he could have a drink? she got off her chair and took our order. He asked for a coors Light and i ordered a titos vodka cran. My drink was literally just plain cranberry juice. Not one splash of vodka at all. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!!! THIS LITTLE 22 YEAR OLD BARTENDER WAS THE WORST! when another customer approached to order a drink he actually apologized for interrupting her study time because she was on the other side on her computer. Loved this place. This was a great place to go after a day of fishing or just being outdoors. Been going for a long time. I know it sold a while back and the place has changed. Seems more expensive now. The part that will probably keep us from going back is that they're pretty rude to travelers. Not sure if it was the owner but from what he said I don't think he likes anyone in there that's not a local, which in a small town like that I doubt there's enough local business to keep that place open. read more

So we were wandering around in Bishop, we stopped in at a local watering hole. Abury was awesome! She was super friendly and was willing to take the the time to find us the shirts we wanted. She was very attentive to the patrons sitting g at the bar and engaged everyone in conversation. The bar has shuffleboard, pool, darts, and a Touch Tunes jukebox. The vibe here is what all saloons should have, friendly. Thanks for the cold beer on a toasty day. If we find ourselves back here in Bishop, we will definitely be back. This is the most unfriendly place in Bishop. We were hanging out in town after visiting the Bristlecones for our anniversary. We had previously stopped at the distillery and brewery, both of which were fantastic. We casually walked into this bar and the female bartender took one look at me (I had not even spoke one word yet) and said "We won't serve her!" to my husband. This was so strange for so many reasons: 1. I was standing there existing. I walked into the bar of my own accord and was by no means being wild or sloppy or showing that I had even had drinks in me already. 2. She didn't even wait for me to speak. The ironic thing is, I HATE being drunk (buzzed is fine) and was going to give myself a break and just get a water or soda. 3. She didn't even have the decency to speak to me. She addressed my husband as if I wasn't even in the room. 4. My husband had drank 2x as much as I had and was just as, if not more, inebriated. Yet she had no quams serving him despite our behavior being on the exact same level. I have never ever in my entire life been cut off. I had 3 drinks over about 2-3 hours so far and was by NO MEANS way too drunk. I rarely drink because I normally don't even care to. It was really disgusting to be made to feel like some out of control sloppy drunk the 1 day that I was trying to let myself be loose for our anniversary. We then proceeded to play pool in a completely normal fashion and even had what I assume is the owner or another worker come up to us chatting about our dog. We had a coherent and normal conversation and he was nice. I kept wondering if the lady saw how wrong she was and felt foolish because she really should have! She did not apologize even after seeing us be there playing games like normal humans and not falling all over the place as she apparently assumed I would be doing. Point is, I don't know who she thinks she is and why she is so high and mighty when the entirety of her job is to get people drunk. She also had no basis to deny me a drink because she didn't even ask if we were driving (which we weren't we were walking around town being totally responsible). Seems like she had some weird internal misogyny where she felt like putting another woman down for absolutely no reason. read more

I guess this joint seems to fit the little cowpoke town of Bishop. It's been here for like 100 years or something. My friend came here in 1976 and it hasn't changed much 45 years. Seems like it used to be more of a locals place but just for the historic value, you get more tourists here. A fun little dive bar in Downtown Bishop. They have a decent bar with a few good craft beers . They also have food (it's a different business ) that has its own counter for food sales but you can eat at the bar. I had the classic burger and so did my buddy. Delicious. The place is clean although they need to check the bathroom more often as there were no paper towels or even a hand blower to dry hands off. Plenty of parking in the lot in the back near the back entrance of the bar. They have a DJ that comes in some nights. Bartender lady was quite a character. Most of the patrons were from out of town so plenty of good energy and excitement. If you check in via Yelp they give you a free Jell-O shot. read more

Seriously sad to write this review as I grew up here but.... I Brought my friends here as I grew up here and wanted them to experience local Bishop flare/history during mule days. The older male bartender treated us like absolute dirt and even cussed at me- all because I wanted a cowboy bloody Mary, which was on the menu...This isn't how you treat your fellow townspeople who are trying to support your business.... I will not be coming back as it was truly a disappointing experience when I was trying to support a local business and give you guys a good name for visitors. Sadly, my friends who aren't from here will not be coming back because of the experience either as they too thought it was truly disrespectful and not friendly at all. This is a dive bar that one should not miss when in Bishop. The bartender was friendly and attentive to our drinks. Drinks were reasonable priced The bar is dark but it appeared to be well maintained and clean. They have a full size shuffle board along with Touch Tunes jukebox. Thankfully, Randy (the town's local patron) granted us his last two seats at the bar next to him. He is in love with love and my fiancé was distracting him away towards the end of the night. I didn't really notice because Ashlee and I were in full conversation about tattoos and single mom life. About the saloon, it popped up as the top 3 spots on the Yelp research. The locals here are so chill and great to talk with. The drinks are in endless supply and thankful that we stumbled back to our hotel. The streets of Bishop are safe and thankful that the po-po didn't buzz kill our night. The saloon: great price as long as you don't buy everyone a drink and the drink selection is great. This bar has a full liquor license, which can be hard to find in Bishop. The bar is a total dive and the regular crowd tends to be older cowboys and what not, but don't be intimidated. They are a friendly bunch. The bartenders are really nice and will try their best to make any drink you want. We got some Irish car bombs, which came from canned Guinness poured into a plastic cup with the Baileys and Jameson in a huge shot glass on the side. Not ideal, but they tried! Their margaritas are pretty good. The bartenders aim to please. The staff starts handing out wristbands around 9pm. Not sure why. There are two pool tables and a dart board. Apparently, from 4-6pm they offer $1.75 Rolling Rock drafts and free pool and darts. The best part about Rusty's - unexpected free wifi! Not sure if it was intentional but I'll take it! read more

Your typical locals bar and a little divey. Attributes that I like in a bar. I went to Rusty's last year and am just now getting around to rating it. I was in town for one night and decided to have a couple of beers. I was there on a Wednesday afternoon. It was pretty quiet but there were a few regulars at the bar. Service and conversation was good and prices were cheap. They have a pool table and shuffleboard but nobody was playing. I will go back if I pass through Bishop again. read more

Tonight some dude had been starring at me sitting at the bar. So I looked over and he asks my name, then goes onto saying I'm haole. I'm all that's cool. He says his names Marco he's been living up here at Bishop for 19 years. He goes onto saying you islanders love to fight. Then asked me if the girl next to me was mine? I'm all nah, then introduced them. Later when me and the chic next to me talked. He rudely interrupted and said I won't bother you no more. I'm all dude we're cool. Just ducked in for a quick drink while going through Bishop. Neither my friend or I had ever been here but we liked the Rustyc (haha) look of the place, outside and in. They're in the midst of an expansion and remodel and it's quite roomy inside, with pool tables, foosball table, darts and a life-sized Captain Morgan statue! In the front older part of the bar you'll see deer heads galore on the walls as well as a giant hornet's nest (empty, presumably) hanging over the bar! Reasonable drink prices and friendly bartender and locals made for a pleasant stop. Apparently their "Redneck Nites" on Saturdays are quite popular. If you're in the mood for a casual relaxed bar, Rusty's fits the bill. read more

Rusty's is a great way to experience Bishop. A small town bar with interesting people. The beer is good and the price was very affordable. NICE place! But there is a big problem with the police. You can really see them at all parts of Bishop. You have speed traps as you enter the town from LA or Mammoth. They job is to keep visitors out of Bishop and leave as big of a BAD impression on all visitors to just keep driving. I did not get a ticket nor was I stopped but the lineup of losers along the side of the road that got nailed, said it all. These people will not be coming back to Bishop any time soon. Add to this, the harassment at night from the police as you WALK about town, adds to this overly aggressive police department anti-visitor approach to guests. Leaving Rusty's, a group of us walked to Denny's up the street to get some late night food and back to the motel . Several cops followed us slowly from their cars as we walked the several blocks to Denny's. They were also stopping anyone that was driving on the road too. What a shakedown! About 10 minutes after we got to Denny's, which already had a lot of late night diners in it, the police decided to come in and "walk" the tables to make sure their presence known. AMAZING!! My friends and I will probably stop in Long Pine next time and try to bypass as much of Bishop as we can. read more
