My friend described the coziness of it as "your grandma's house". We got in line right in time because it filled up right after we ordered. They have tons of coffee and tea options as well as baked goods and hot food of the day items (quiche, frittata, etc). They also do beer and wine and had a solid tap selection. I had the dovetail latte and my friend had an iced vanilla latte and we both loved our coffees. They also have a small craft and trinket section from local sellers which was so cool and made the space feel so homey. It was so good we ended up doing back later that weekend as well. Recommend if you're in the area!

I took my time then I purchased a bag of beans. There was a DJ playing inside. They have DJ every Friday. There are other weekly events too. The place was decently busy. They have some cups for ice water and lots of seating. You can read and chill. The outside patio is for customers who want to eat. So you can't get your coffee and go sit out there. I was a little perturbed by their no ice sign. But again, this is Minnesota so what do you expect. They have local ice cream and pastries for sale inside the shop. It's clean. Prices are decent. It's pretty much the only coffee shop in the area near our hotel and it was an easy walk.

My friend has a white chocolate latte and said it was "meh". We both got a blueberry scone with lemon drizzle but the lemon flavor was non-existent and the drizzle wasn't visible so I feel like maybe it was missing. The scone had good texture but not much flavor. For $13 it seemed a bit steep in price.

And two loaves of bread- the cheese curd and the rosemary onion in the one pound option. (They have a two pound and it's huge!) We enjoyed the bread toasted with butter and for avocado toast during the week. They offered to slice the rosemary onion bread but not the cheese curd- there's something about the cheese curd that they said they don't slice it. I can't remember. But it's fine/ we sliced our own. The pecan rolls and the cinnamon rolls looked amazing but I'm more of a savory gal. The shop was super cute. They have a sourdough class coming up. They have coffees and couches. Bathrooms for customers. Some merchandise for sale. They even have a monthly club where you can pick up or have your items delivered to you! Wow! I wish I lived in the area just for this bakery. I enjoyed reading about the business on their website/ two brothers!

They brought us to a nice two top on the covered part of the outside of the restaurant. Spectacular views of the lake. Service was prompt. I had wine and Jeff had a cocktail. The cocktail menu did not appeal to me; my wine was fantastic. Of course I had to start with the meatballs. They were so good. For dinner I had the salmon fresca- a pasta dish, which is not my typical dish (i usually get beef!) but it sounded so good. I was very pleased with it and my husband loves fish so he was thrilled and shared with me. He also ordered the mahi mahi which comes over risotto and loved it. We were grateful for the complimentary bread and dipping sauce. Yum! They told us their desserts were homemade so we shared the cheesecake. It was better than I expected! I'm not a cheesecake fan, but I had a couple bites! What a wonderful date night for us. Thank you! We took our leftovers to go. I want more of those meatballs! Be sure to order them.

But after a week of drinking his coffee, we are admittedly bias about the guy. To be clear, we've never met the man we are just punch drunk after a week of bliss and this was on DECAF!! I can't wait to see what the regular tastes like! I had a can of his decaf for over a year now but I'm not a decaf drinker, so it just sat in the cupboard until this week. Almanac's Decaf is better than most regular coffees I've had....I may end up reducing my caffeine intake because I prefer the taste over most coffees I've had. I understand taste us subjective, for reference I'm a Nina's and Amore, in St. Paul, as well as a Spyhouse and Five Watt Minneapolis guy, if that helps. Just ordered 2.5lbs of decaf, some regular Honduras, and a sampler pack. I've never 'ordered' coffee online before, but I absolutely have to have more of this decaf, it's that good! If you're looking for an amazing decaf I can definitely recommend Almanac's Decaf....the only negative was not trying it a year ago. Cheers!
