I took my time then I purchased a bag of beans. There was a DJ playing inside. They have DJ every Friday. There are other weekly events too. The place was decently busy. They have some cups for ice water and lots of seating. You can read and chill. The outside patio is for customers who want to eat. So you can't get your coffee and go sit out there. I was a little perturbed by their no ice sign. But again, this is Minnesota so what do you expect. They have local ice cream and pastries for sale inside the shop. It's clean. Prices are decent. It's pretty much the only coffee shop in the area near our hotel and it was an easy walk.

I ended up mixing it up and getting a matcha latte which was flavored perfectly and not overly sweet. The space itself is so bright and open and in the coolest building with multiple other shops. You can enjoy your order at a table inside, walk around the various stores, or take it to go and hop around the area as so many new spots have opened up.

Nothing to do with reputation, popularity or price, but strictly driven on taste and preference. Now, that I have my own job and my own check (20 years as a home maker), I have a little more disposable cash to endulge my personal hobbies. Coffee is one. So much so, I really considered opening a small independent coffee shop. Therefore, it goes without saying, I know about coffee--from soil to hot cup with cream. So when women entrepeneurs were showcased that morning, City Girl Coffee got my attention. Especially when she said beans are roasted and ground the same day. And she talked about the history of the parent company Alakef Coffee; a company started by her father because he wanted a good cup of coffee. Since I was running out of coffee and taking a trip to the Costco for my coffee takes planning and a 20 minute drive, I decided to give a go to Alakef. The worst that would happen is that the coffee was okay and I would freeze it as my emergency stash. The best, I would have a great cup of coffee. So I ordered a bag of French Roast (I like strong, dark coffee) and waited for its arrival. My coffee arrive the next week and I ordered ground because the convienence. When I sipped that first cup, I knew. Fresh roast, smooth taste, no bitter notes and great taste. Gentle but good coffee. Nothing harsh. My subscription for French Roast and Brazil ordered. My husband stopped drinking coffee about 3 years ago joined me in a cup--he takes his black. He vowed to get up in the morning and join me for coffee. Take aways: 1. If you like coffee and want the convience of home delivery give it a try. Subscription would cost you less than take out coffee anyday. 2. Smooth and not bitter coffee.
